Microsoft.Windows.XP.Pro.N.Corporate.SP2 Integrated Jan.2007 MULTI.IMAGE-ETH0

Does anyone know if these are the cracked ones or not? I own the legit serial key, and hence am looking for a release that DOES ask for Activation, as I don't like to download all the updates every time I reinstate my PC...

@Markieman234:

There's no need for a format if you know what you're doing. Yes, I do agree that a format would be the best (read: optimal) solution, but experienced users know how maintain their systems.

The key to everything is proper partitioning (with the right cluster sizes and on NTFS/EFS), along with proper user accounts and group policy management. That along with a few third party utilities, and you're good to go without the need for a format for years. I've been a sysadmin since 1989, so I know what exactly goes on behind the scenes. I have windows running and tweaked exactly the way I want it to, and I don't even use an antivirus/spyware software. Windows XP has everything you need. Its all about proper administration. Don't blame MS for all the spyware and holes and stuff, instead, blame MS for not emphasizing the importance of Limited User Accounts, blame MS for making users an Admin by default, blame MS for allowing blank passwords, blame MS for allowing FAT, blame MS for not providing simple commands like SU and SUDO..

However, with Vista, MS hopes to set a few things right with UAC.. I still say they need to change the setup so people setup their OS the right way. I always liked how all Linux distros emphasied the importance of /root.

wickido -

I'm assuming that your incorrect, if

omgg
January 20th, 2007 | 17:23
that keygen was trojan :/ “ac-ne1a.zip”

if that person got a trojan, either you haven't got good enough protection or omgg is putting out mis-info.

either way I wont be downloading it that's for sure.

Time to back up I think, if your going to download for yourself to see make sure you back up before you open it.

Few days ago I had a booterror, it just froze down. I thought that it might have gone to windows so I pressed ALT+F4 and pressed 'R' because I thought that would reboot things. Though, instead, it went right on to windows, I was kinda happy, decided to backup all my files and then re-installed teh win. I also thought of putting uBuntu onit, and so I did, though I wouldnt recommend it to anyone ever. Anyways, XP Pro which I had laying around in my own language worked perfectly, had some problems with updates an ol, five minutes of browsing I found some real solid WGA and activation shizzle and havent had a problem ever since. Getting all things set thereafter was real easy, all my programs are online at my own site, so I wouldnt have to look around, just copy pasting some backed up files to their new space. And voila, as if nothing ever happened. My problem got fixed, its running smoother than ever, what else could I want? Rather spend about 3 hours doing that than working on solving it which could take a day of pain and aggrevation. I recommend periodically (every 6 - 12 months) reinstallation of windows (with formatting) because its not much of a deal to do and yet you gain so much back of doing it. :D

"The last thing you are doing is admitting defeat by reformatting."

If reformatting and reinstalling / reconfiguring all your apps would take you a longer time than fixing your performance issues on an existing install, it may not be admitting defeat, but it sure is a less optimal solution. I also happen to work on the IT department of a medium sized company, and we rarely reinstall Windows to solve their problems, but actually *gasp* fix them. And lo and behold, their performance don't go to hell. People on IT support should just do what they're hired for -- fix things.

As for the periodic reinstallation of XP, I've never done that yet with this system, and it's still solid and not "bogged down". I don't know what junk some of you seem to install to get performance problems with it, but that sounds more like something of Windows 9x than XP to me. After 4 years of usage, my XP shutdown speed is approximately 10 seconds, just as an example. And I of course don't keep adding apps I don't need to run in the background; that's just idiotic.

And if you have e.g. a driver mess up your OS, just do a system restore to a day back or so. Try it out; it's among the most underestimated features of XP. Over the years I've used it about 4-5 times on mine and other computers, and it's worked every time.
