Update Windows and Nero

It’s always good to refresh your Windows on your H.D.D. by formatting it. For you who planning to do this the next weeks, there is a new update of Windows Xp. ETH0 group comes every month with a Windows copy with all latest updates included.

Microsoft.Windows.XP.Pro.N.Corporate.SP2 Integrated Jan.2007 MULTI.IMAGE-ETH0
NFOTorrent

The worlds most known CD/DVD burn software updated again. I have always been using Nero without any problem. The latest versions of Nero also support Blu-Ray and HD-DVD burning. Damn, I have burned more than 5000 discs, for sure!

Ahead.Nero.Premium.Edition.v7.7.5.1.Incl.Keymaker-ACME
NFOTorrent

Once again a group failed to bring us good files, so to get the update quite and easily, just download the demo version of Nero at the website of Ahead. Try to download the torrent but just the “ac-ne1a.zip” file that includes the keygen.

Nero is garbage now, I personally use Alcohol 120

  2. January 20th, 2007 | 00:30

can u use alcohol 120 to compile a audio cd from mp3s?

  3. January 20th, 2007 | 00:31

nero ain’t garbage… what are you smoking? alcohol 120 is only good for emulating iso’s, but then again… there’s always daemon tools.

Ashampoo Burning Studio is a less bloated Nero Alternative.

I like nero *and* alchohol: they both do very well for certain things. Alc for virtual drives and emulation burning, nero ultra for making music and compilation dvd’s. Also really like ConvertXtoDVD for one-click DVD from AVI burning.

Formatting is never good in my book, its admitting defeat. A problem on XP can always be solved no matter how difficult, plus it’s fun to try!

Windows XP Version N says that it is shipped without Windows Media Player in order to be compatible with European law. Are you able to install Media Player after you install windows?

Formatting a hard disk with Microsoft Windows on it is never “admitting defeat”, what with all the security holes, worms, trojans, spyware and viruses that can potentially infest it.
Oh, I hear you say, I use Spybot S&D + Regcleaner + XXX utility software so I’m not affected. You are.
Everytime something is installed under Windows your system slows down that little bit extra, inevitably due to those programs adding themselves discreetly to your running processes list. Even something as small as CloneCD resides in your memory all the time..
And those MS Updates? Windows Update also has a negative impact on speed.
Uninstalling stuff dosn’t remove everything the installer threw onto your PC all the time. Registry entries get mixed up. Hard disks get fragmented. Temp files get left behind. “Useful settings” are left to rot away. Even you as a user leave files behind that you don’t need anymore, like that odd PDF that may sometime come in useful or that mp3 album I don’t want to delete but never listen to.

No, if you want to keep your PC running at its best, reformatting Windows every once in a while is always the only option. Believe me, I work as a service desk analyst and about 30-35% of the calls I recieve are performance related issues.

The last thing you are doing is admitting defeat by reformatting.

Fundamentally though, I agree with your principle point. You should not have to reformat a computer system in order to maintain optimal performace.
This is the sad position Microsoft’s market monopoly puts the end consumer in.
If you want a stable system that does not require reformatting, how about using Linux to meet your IT requirements?

    Any takers?
    Thought not.

Uhg.. nero. Alcohol for images and Feurio for music. Feurio is great if you often burn audio cds.

Formatting can be avoided by using Ghost. Every time I am about to install updates from MS I make sure I have a fresh copy of drive C:. Oh, and by using Windows 2000 I solve lots of XP related problems. :)

probably a better idea is just to take the key, and to dl the file by http from official nero site |>

I wasn’t terribly fond of Etho’s last release of XP Corp….but there’s some really good (and stable) custom XP Pro bundles on Demonoid that work very well. And they pass WGA no prob. Particularly one by a guy named jdrom17 that come bundled with uTorrent right off the bat.

As for the periodic reinstallation of XP, I’ve never done that yet with this system, and it’s still solid and not “bogged down”. I don’t know what junk some of you seem to install to get performance problems with it, but that sounds more like something of Windows 9x than XP to me. After 4 years of usage, my XP shutdown speed is approximately 10 seconds, just as an example. And I of course don’t keep adding apps I don’t need to run in the background; that’s just idiotic.

And if you have e.g. a driver mess up your OS, just do a system restore to a day back or so. Try it out; it’s among the most underestimated features of XP. Over the years I’ve used it about 4-5 times on mine and other computers, and it’s worked every time.

“The last thing you are doing is admitting defeat by reformatting.”

If reformatting and reinstalling / reconfiguring all your apps would take you a longer time than fixing your performance issues on an existing install, it may not be admitting defeat, but it sure is a less optimal solution. I also happen to work on the IT department of a medium sized company, and we rarely reinstall Windows to solve their problems, but actually *gasp* fix them. And lo and behold, their performance don’t go to hell. People on IT support should just do what they’re hired for — fix things.

Few days ago I had a booterror, it just froze down. I thought that it might have gone to windows so I pressed ALT+F4 and pressed ‘R’ because I thought that would reboot things. Though, instead, it went right on to windows, I was kinda happy, decided to backup all my files and then re-installed teh win. I also thought of putting uBuntu onit, and so I did, though I wouldnt recommend it to anyone ever. Anyways, XP Pro which I had laying around in my own language worked perfectly, had some problems with updates an ol, five minutes of browsing I found some real solid WGA and activation shizzle and havent had a problem ever since. Getting all things set thereafter was real easy, all my programs are online at my own site, so I wouldnt have to look around, just copy pasting some backed up files to their new space. And voila, as if nothing ever happened. My problem got fixed, its running smoother than ever, what else could I want? Rather spend about 3 hours doing that than working on solving it which could take a day of pain and aggrevation. I recommend periodically (every 6 – 12 months) reinstallation of windows (with formatting) because its not much of a deal to do and yet you gain so much back of doing it. :D

btw, the Nero 7.x Keygen by Acme; ac-ne1a.zip, works like a charm, no virusses whatsoever (thats pretty trusty coming offa me)

that keygen was trojan :/ “ac-ne1a.zip”

if that person got a trojan, either you haven’t got good enough protection or omgg is putting out mis-info.

either way I wont be downloading it that’s for sure.

Time to back up I think, if your going to download for yourself to see make sure you back up before you open it.

    @Markieman234:

There’s no need for a format if you know what you’re doing. Yes, I do agree that a format would be the best (read: optimal) solution, but experienced users know how maintain their systems.

The key to everything is proper partitioning (with the right cluster sizes and on NTFS/EFS), along with proper user accounts and group policy management. That along with a few third party utilities, and you’re good to go without the need for a format for years. I’ve been a sysadmin since 1989, so I know what exactly goes on behind the scenes. I have windows running and tweaked exactly the way I want it to, and I don’t even use an antivirus/spyware software. Windows XP has everything you need. Its all about proper administration. Don’t blame MS for all the spyware and holes and stuff, instead, blame MS for not emphasizing the importance of Limited User Accounts, blame MS for making users an Admin by default, blame MS for allowing blank passwords, blame MS for allowing FAT, blame MS for not providing simple commands like SU and SUDO..

However, with Vista, MS hopes to set a few things right with UAC.. I still say they need to change the setup so people setup their OS the right way. I always liked how all Linux distros emphasied the importance of /root.

Does anyone know if these are the cracked ones or not? I own the legit serial key, and hence am looking for a release that DOES ask for Activation, as I don’t like to download all the updates every time I reinstate my PC…
