Unofficial Service Pack for Vista leaked to web
Two substantial collections of Windows Vista hotfixes leaked to the Internet after being offered to Windows Server 2008 beta testers this weekend, leading some users to speculate that the pair are actually the foundation of the future Service Pack 1 (SP1) release for the OS. Labeled “Vista Performance and Reliability Pack” and “Vista Compatibility and Reliability Pack,” the two updates feature a long list of non-security-related bug fixes, including those that improve Vista’s resumption after sleep or hibernation, boost the speed of copying or moving large directories, prevent some memory corruption problems, bolster the reliability of systems upgraded from XP to Vista and increase compatibility with video drivers.

Some Vista users commenting on several of the blogs and forums covering the hotfixes — a message thread on nVNews appeared to have been the first — theorized that the packs would be the core of SP1, the service pack Microsoft has been both reluctant to talk about and eager to downplay. Some of the fixes called out in the release notes seem to point in that direction, since they describe issues and patches already posted to the Microsoft support site. The item pegged as “resolves an issue where a computer can lose its default Gateway address when resuming from sleep mode,” for example, is likely the same as an April 24 Vista fix. As of Monday afternoon, the fix packs were still accessible on at least one non-Microsoft download site. The performance pack update weighed in at 10GB, while the compatibility pack was considerably smaller, at around 2GB. Wow, that must be a lot of bugs!

10GB, that’s around the figure the english have of sheep porn collections on their trips to Yorkshire.
yeah its working
less time to copy large amount of files, that stupud calculating time is now noticible faster and i see lower cpu usage around 3-5% less than before
at this time i have running firefox, avast, jabber and standard vista proceses crap + drivers and side bar when i stop typing and leave mouse cpu usage is 0-1% nice (before was 5-7%)

Vista sucks. A lot. Only fucking morons use it.
Hey, he messed up the units its MB not GB, and it works well for me so far been using it since Monday night.
Recommended but not for the faint of heart.
@Sam
i want to be a moron like billgates…… spending millions each years for good donations and still beeing one of the richest guys on earth ….
so why dont you shut your piehole, cause no one did ask you to say vista users are morons…. go buy 4 GB ram and a quadcore and you will love vista …. o ya and DX10 which xp never will have
it’s like the never ending … Win98 vs WinXP … too big , too eye candy … ressource hungry.. remember in 2001 ??? loll
10gb and 2Gb I was about to say wow, if I ever get Vista I think I might need a new hard drive kinda runnin low. but i heards its a typo and its 10mb and 2mb
Installed that 2 upates above vista is working bad… If this is Vista SP1 inded released to increase performances and free some resoures then BiLL Gat3s and St3v3 Balm3r it can kiss my ass !
Vista people are the same stupid fucks with i-phone…
Well, it’s just a tiny trojan hidden in a huge package.
Have fun!
…oh, and I totally agree with Sam and FishScalez…
Vista people are the same stupid fucks with i-phone…???
Well that’s about a stupid statement… Microsoft’s flagship and Apple’s hype, talk about a clash.
Those with shitty comps need to stop bashing Vista and its users.
I got a PII chip computer with Windows 95 is that shitty…
But on a serious note… can some one e-mail me how to install this SP (thanks in advance) davross23@aol.com
it still doesnt fix the most basic problem…
… its still vista.
so a service pack on vista is like a polished turd.
i got 2 gigs of ram and dule core processors and vista runs as grand as xp for calling it a resorce hog if your so tech smart you should know how to clear out 90% of those exstras so it’s not so bloated. don’t bash it couse you can’t master it =)
I was also once a Vista hater, until I upgraded my PC. Just like XP’s debut, there’s always room for improvement. There’s also a bit of a learning curve, which can be traumatic for those who don’t like change, but once you make the switch, its really hard to downgrade back to XP. I love using Vista!
…Hi, I’m anonymoose, you might remember me from such posts as…
I just tried both Service Packs from the Guru3D.com link and I got an error which I believe pertains to Windows Update. That service is disabled and would be even if this copy (Vista Enterprise 32Bit VLM – EcHoS) wasn’t pirate booty.
So yeah, I’ll DISCONNECT from the inter-tubes, turn-on appropriate services from services.msc and update.
I would never buy an i-FuckAnythingShiny.
I just created service pack 2 for Vista, its around 700mb, fist you format hard drive then install XP and wait for vista service pack 10, then Vista might be good enough to use. This might be hard for people who like to show off to their friends because they have the latest computer and would hate to downgrade because society and their friends might look down on them.
Ummm … I dont even know if the update did anything but it ran ok for me .
Btw, I been using Vista for almost 2 months now and great O_O … not that there isnt any problem, but I still got problem on XP so wat da heck lolz . I wont downgrade unless something critical happen like a dying-to-use program cant run … but most can “turn that damn run under XP” and you are fine . ^^ Just like XP “run program under 2000″ unless somebody dont even use that o_O .

@Vista Bashers
Fucktard: Invariably, discovery of fucktardedness is preceded by denial, often verbally, especially in the form of “There’s no way anyone could be that stupid.” Fucktards do not just defy common sense, they are pathologically incapable of recognizing the obvious, and are space-and-time bendingly stupid, More Basically said for the Fucktart in U: its the peak level of ultimate stupidity gone horribly fucking bad.
Seriously now, this is basically the same shit that was going on when XP came out, only the percentage of people that think they have a clue have grown beyond proportion. The fact that you can install a driver doesn’t make you a fucking computer guru. Most of you wouldn’t know a trend or a software lifecycle if you were hit by one in the face. Despite your comments (such as: “Vista sucks” and “fist you format hard drive then install XP and wait for vista service pack 10″) being tech-saavy, professional, and containing critical review bought with years of practical experience and extensive research, they do leave something to be desired (e.g intelligence, meaning, coherency, and the use of the English language). In light of this, do us all a favor and have a nice big steaming mug of shut the fuck up.
@Capt. Jack
PWNED!
Why the hell would you install a beta service pack? If it runs shit afterwards dont be suprised if your pc is fucked and quit blaming it on microsoft.
@35 coz its not beta sp1 only two updates, whose increasing performance of OS and it was said that there sould be core of incoming sp1
Just gimme your pc lol dude
ok, so I notice a perfomance gain in transfer file instead of going at 500k, it actually got at 15mb for me now lolz o_O . I wonder wassup with the bottleneck
.
@ Capt. Jack I’m sorry mate, I didn’t you where such an expert on everything including the English language. I have no doubt that Vista will become a great OS (as good as a Microsoft product can be), but the fact is it is designed for upmarket PCs to make them look all pretty. I said it when windows 95 came out, Bill Gates is the greatest marketing genius of our time, he knew people wanted shiny elaborate products so thats what we got, but efficiency and reliability was sacrificed in tern. Vista is still early days and honestly it really doesn’t bring anything new us except a hell of a lot of nagging and watching every move we make, they couldn’t even finish the WINFS. I could not wait to jump from windows 98 to 2000 because they offered something. There is no doubt I will upgrade to Vista one day but who knows Linux has a lot to offer as well just a slight learning curve. tell me Capt. Jack do you have an shiny new IPhone.
@Lynx:
Let’s start off by saying that I am somewhat of an expert. I Won’t, and don’t feel the need to, be flapping credentials, but let’s just say that at some point of my life I was an instructor on PC Hardware and Modern OS. Enough of that.
You were right about vista being desinged for strong hardware, but you missed the point. The hardware requirments, especially the 1GB+ RAM, is a result of a highly aggressive SuperFetch memory management, and not for any Eye Candy(which is, by the way, offloaded to the GPU – actually saving you processing power and memory). You can argue the benefits and drawbacks of this or that memory management, but only the design folks at Microsoft have the information on why it’s like that. Bottom line though, is that Vista really shines at the 2GB+ area, and that’s where PC hardware is headed anyway.
Your claim about Vista being eye candy only is so off base, it ain’t even funny. Vista brings to the table a brand new kernel, designed to scale with current and upcoming technologies and serve as a basis for future Microsoft OS’s. The task of designing a new kernel is terribly difficult as it is, but microsoft also has to log around a two ton weight called “Backwards Compatability”. This is probably the biggest cause to the delays of Vista and, judging by my experience with Vista, was done exceptionally well!
There’s no doubt that Vista still has some quirks, glitches and implementation issues, but most are in the bearable area and minor annoyances. Looking at most issues I encounter with Vista, i’d say that alot of the problems come from 3rd party drivers, which are of low quality and late to the table. Companies like Creative and Nvidia, 6 monthes after release, are still working on offering full functionality. It’s fucking sad, but they abuse their market dominance and take their sweet time.
Closing notes:
Didn’t get the iPhone reference. It was probably supposed to be something about the iPhone being only eye candy as well, but… meh. (btw, i hear the multi-touch is a pleasure of thing, but fuck me if i spend 600$ for a phone).
Do me a favor friend, and try working on vista on an above avrage PC, with a decent GPU and 2GB RAM, and I promise you you’ll feel the difference. It’s fluid, snappy and a pleasure to work with on everyday tasks.
how about we just wait for the real SP1 ?
Iphone thing. lol. i heard a chinese company just pawned apple by releasing a exactly the same Iphone imitation, which is sold for like 50% lower than apple prices.
lol. more info here if you wanna read a review about it. I found it pretty interesting.

Well said Capt.Jack. You probably won’t read this, nor will i likely see any reply if you do, but i have to publically agree with every word and add my own…
On a reasonable system (i’m running an AMD 3000+, 1.5gb mem, Nvidia 7600gt 256mb with IDE harddrives !) Vista runs just fine. I know i’m not running a cutting edge machine, but so far i haven’t found a great reason to upgrade. When i moved up to Vista i did have to upgrade my 5700fx video card but all else has stayed the same. Any flaws i’ve faced are now fixed. Any tweaks i’ve needed to do have been done. Un-needed services disabled, UAC gone, Windows Mail speeded up etc etc. Sidebar and Aero are off. Get under the hood and alter Vista from its “i will hold your hands” default settings and it works beautifully. I reboot less often. I can recover more fully, more often from crashes (which are software caused, not OS) and by adopting early i am learning the ins and outs of the OS. Something i need to know for my I.T. based job.
There are 10 types of people that understand binary. Those that do and those that don’t.
Theres also 10 types of people when it comes to OS’s. Those that have a clue and those that don’t. The ones saying “Vista suxx0r5 OMG Lolz !!11!” are primarily the clueless 1x year olds. It gets so hard to ignore them when they are so prevalent… sigh.
hey…captn fuktard ie:Capt. Jack…where ya @…summer of 2007? Analysts from Gartner said earlier this week that Windows is collapsing under its own weight. Talk in the blogosphere keeps pointing to a Windows 7 release date earlier than 2010. Is Vista already a lame duck?
HEH! QUACK QUACK.
