Two Worlds-Razor1911

The oldest and one of the most respected PC groups in the scene, Razor1911 might not be releasing as much as they did in the past but today they bring us the fantasy role-playing game Two Worlds. Again this game looks to be in the same vain as Oblivion and the like. The game offers both Singleplayer and multiplayer, however the settings and characters are kept separate and not shared between modes. Game looks pretty good, check out the screenshots below if you need some convincing. The release comes fully cracked, on two DVD’s.However only the first DVD is required for English install. The second DVD contains the French and German languages and lots of “extras”.

The story of Two Worlds begins in an age torn by war. The Orcs have advanced to the south bank of the river Gon and are threatening the Kingdom of Cathalon. While this is happening, the hero, a wandering bounty hunter, is searching for some clue as to the whereabouts of his sister, whom he hasn’t seen since her settlement was attacked three years ago. He unexpectedly receives vital information from a mysterious stranger - and immediately joins a Dark Brotherhood (or so it seems). Now the time has come for him to try understanding the game’s powerful forces - and to learn how to use them! This is the only way the hero can survive - and get the answers to the questions that are burning in his soul - Who is behind this secretive kidnapping? Will he ever see his sister again? Where is the Tomb of Aziraal - and what role does the mysterious, yet helpful stranger have to play?

The most visible aspect of the Two Worlds gameplay is the freedom to change the world and shape the story within it. Other important features are unlimited character development and exciting, spectacular combat. The player is encouraged to experiment with the world, test the results of good and evil deeds and find the most satisfying way to deal with challenges. The gameplay has been designed to evoke the long-term outcomes that are important to the player and offer them the power to change their state. The rush of adrenaline accompanying frequent combat situations will ensure short-term, powerful motivation to continue the current session of play.

The game offers a unique opportunity to influence the game world - unseen, to this scale, in other Role Playing games. Freedom of choice (like freedom to join or betray various organizations) and the importance of every decision are the core mechanisms to evoke the sense of meaningful play.

Depending on the way that a problem is solved, the player gains or loses their reputation in certain organizations, various options are being closed or opened, quests are offered and new locations are unlocked. For example, a player must decide whether to help a city hold off the invasion of orcs or to secretly open the gates and let the invaders in. The latter decision will result in an onslaught and the take over of the city by the barbaric hordes. The next time the player visits this location, it will be populated and managed by orcs, unless the human army arrives and tries to liberate the city. The world lives its own life, but the player has the power to change it. The challenge lies in finding the right “strings” and skillfully “pulling” them.

Features:

  • Offering a freedom of choice unseen in other Role Playing Games. The world literally comes to life as it immediately reacts to the player’s actions and changes accordingly -offering new and exciting challenges.
  • Strong, non-linear storyline. Players can shape their own story by choosing the path of conducting the main conflict and resolving meaningful side-quests.
  • Spectacular and dynamically choreographed fights. The combat system combines intuitive steering, tactical challenges and movie-like visual experiences.
  • Free and unlimited character development. Players can experiment with different careers and even reverse their former choices with the help of “career changers”.
  • Animals to be ridden on. Players can travel and fight on various animals from horses to tamed lizards and beasts.
  • A choice of traps and snares are at the Player’s disposal making the gameplay both rich and flexible.
  • Huge variety of items to be found. Randomly generated pieces of equipment, thematic sets and combined items offer the space to experiment and satisfy the need to collect.
  • Wide range of beautifully rendered terrains: from high mountains to seashores and deep caves with all of the locations featuring ultra sharp texturing and stunning design.
  • Hyper-realistic tree physics and sophisticated weather system make the world come to life as has never been seen before.
  • Advanced Artificial Intelligence that manages group behaviour of large virtual communities.
  • Up to 8 players in the multiplayer mode.
  • Symphonic music to make the experience more emotional and memorable.
  • Extensive usage of Pixel Shader 2.0 and 3.0, HDR, multiple materials and unique shadow engine to ensure the best visuals possible.
  • Support of Multi CPUs and Multicore CPUs, SLI and CrossFire Technology

Minimum system requirements:

  • 2GHz CPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • Windows Vista / XP
  • Graphics card with Shader 2.0 or higher
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • DVD-ROM Drive
  • Keyboard and mouse

I’m wondering about performance. How will this game play on high-end non-dual-core systems?

  11. May 11th, 2007 | 02:42

eeeh is it just me or what… Razor1911 ceased to exist some years back now. The current “Razor1911″ isn’t the same one, so this talking about it being an oldskool group is kinda wrong.

  12. May 11th, 2007 | 02:53

it isn’t on usenet yet is it?? (saw someone mention giganews)

Never heard of this game before but it looks interesting. Problem is there are 0 seeds at the moment. There was 1 seeder a few hours ago but they seem to have dissapeared. I just hope that the person who uploaded this to the pirate bay isn’t going to dissapear and make everyone waste a few gig of downloads.

    @nfo:
“This game include french, german and english language, only dvd1 is needed
for the english install. Dvd2 also contains lots of extras!”

So you don’t have to dl all the 7gb if you only want English..

  25. bballer
    May 11th, 2007 | 11:15

I’m only downloading DVD1. It’s only a few gigs. Fortunately I don’t have bandwith limitations. I can download as much as a want without paying an extra cent. I feel sorry for the people who do and download this and then find out it sucks.

If anyone is having the problem with the crash do this.

Open any of the cutscenes up in the \VIDEO folder of installed game. I believe this allows windows media player to get the right codecs to play the game. I tried what the .nfo file said and it still crashed.

Razor1911 was a legend, I remember playing games they put out back in like 1995, far far longer then almost any other group out there.

what’s so “extra” in that “extra” dvd. except the languages ofcorse

  40. Kalma
    May 12th, 2007 | 12:45

Downloaded both dvds, then noticed only dvd1 needed for english language. Didnt ask any cd keys either. Game runs smooth on my dual-core system but horse gets stuck and inventory could use some improvement, it is a mess. Extras has some wallpapers, mp3 and wav music, pinball trial game etc.
All in all, im gonna play this, hopefully network play works too. I’d like to test it before i buy it.

  41. Terranova
    May 12th, 2007 | 12:58

Well.. works fine for me. There are few little bugs and i’m not sure about “much better than oblivion optimalization” theory, but still it’s a interesting game..

However people with Radeon9xxx series graphic cards need 2 wait for a 1.2 crack, that patch is something that you-MUST-get before playing.

One more thing - after the installation go to the game folder and check if ya can open any of the videos. If something is wrong use windows mediaplayer and let him download/install needed codecs.

    Have fun ;)

    May 12th, 2007 | 15:52

Played an hour or so, controls are horrid. Seems like it was designed for a console, but as far as I can tell, you can’t use a game controller w/ it.

As was mentioned, interface is pretty bad. Combat is nowhere near as good as they hyped it up to be (imo).

If you aren’t getting good speeds, just drop it, is my advice.

  43. nightstorm
    May 12th, 2007 | 16:13

Yes, this is a console game played on PC. It is absolutely terrible. The graphics can not even begin to compare with Oblivion, by a long shot. Not to speak of gameplay.

If you’re a console freak, and not to picky then this might be the game for you. For those looking for another Oblivion, this is a waste of bandwidth.

    May 13th, 2007 | 04:01

the graphics are very crappy if you want it to run smoothly unless you have the most up to date supercomputer. I’m really disappointed when I thought this was going to be even close to Oblivion, its not even close on any scale. Seems like the people that made this put no effort on anything besides the supercomputer graphics that most no one will have..

  49. Korbo
    May 13th, 2007 | 08:15

    Guys common.
I was not looking for another Oblivion, but for a good game.
And I found it : this one’s great fun, gameplay more fable-like than Oblivion-like, you can combine weapons / plants / whatever you pick up to boost yourself. It’s a great game so far.
Forget graphics, Diablo 2 rocked with ugly 2D 800×600 graphics, and this one’s much more beautiful than Diablo 2 :-)…
    Runs smoothly with :
    Me : Core2Duo E4400 @ 2.7GhZ + 2 GB + X1950Pro 512 MB
    Wife : A64 3000+ @ Stock + 1GB + 7800GS 256 MB

    Enjoy !

This game is quite good, oblivion did not feel as seamless as this world does. Oblivion had load times going into any building which fucking killed the whole game for me. This game is seamless (except for going underground) from end to end and it really works to good effect. I have been playing for about 6 hours now and the quests are much better at pulling you into the world than most RPG’s however as noted the voice acting is awful. The interface and skill system leaves some to be desired also but in reality this is one of the best RPGs to come out in a long time. It just has that same addicting quality that diablo had way back when, hard to put a finger on it, it just works.

    Your welcome, enjoy it.

  73. maldo
    May 14th, 2007 | 17:48

    Some other observations:

The loot system is top notch, if you run across a guy in fancy armor and a nice glowy longsword in the woods and you kill him he leaves all of those things behind for you to take. This causes you to sometimes see a guy with a weapon you want and it makes you stop in your tracks and go “woah! I am gonna take that from that guy”. This system should be the new standard for all RPG’s to come. Also mentioned above by Korbo, you can combine items in your inventory to make more powerful(and more valuable) versions of the same item. The weapon/armor models and textures are also one of the high notes of the game, top notch (if not a bit oblivion “inspired”)

Combat is pretty much click, click, click & attack, but it retains a enjoyable aspect much like diablo except in 3D. There are things you can do such as time an enemys attack and jump back (Q key) out of the way before it hits you. You can also see ranged bow armed enemies start to draw back and take aim at you, this is a good time to sidestep and get around to the side of them or else you will have an arrow sticking out of you. All in all the combat works better than oblivion for me, this may differ in your opinion but to me its a no brainer. If this game had included a deeper, more fleshed out character creation system and skill tree it seriously could have been the game of the year hands down, as it stands now it is just really good for any fan of the action/rpg genre.

    regards

Nice view maldo, also to add the horses are way cool, i have seen alot of ppl have problems with this but imo its done way better here than other games and you can fight from your horse. I like this game alot and plan on getting it when its avail. better than Oblivion very scary no scaleing enemys you can trully roleplay in this game.Only wish there were more or better custom choices for face and some of the lip synch if off. otherwise a top notch rpg. Up there with the best rpgs I have played, Dungeon Master by FTL, Eye of the Beholder by SSI,Wizadry by Sirtech and SunDog by FTL.

  75. maldo
    May 14th, 2007 | 20:12

I also like the horses. Some people have complained about the control of them but I think it is kind of innovative. The horse rides somewhat realistic as in you get it going and then pull the reins to direct it one way or another. You have to plan where you are going to go though as the horse has momentum and does not just stop and start on a dime. I have not had a chance to ride very much though as I left my horse in the woods and cannot seem to find him again (lol). I am hoping to come across another one someday though. (any ideas on how to find my horse again?)

I think the best thing about this game and something I have not even touched on yet is the way the story line for the game is highly complex and the way your chracter interacts with the events that transpire in the world really feels important. I could go on for hours about how the main storyline has branced off into 20 smaller (but just as meaningful) story arcs. I find myself already planing a second play through of this game to try things differently and I have not even scratched the surface of the first play through yet. This is odd for me considering I rarely play single player games more then the initial time.

I only wish online play would work, I hear it will have the same world but with a large number of real people in it working for or against your goals and aims. FYI: even with the new 1.20 keygen used it still will not work online (and it told my Ip was banned) so save yourself the effort and do not even try it. Only option would be hamachi and without a lan option that I saw hamachi will be a no go.

Stagz, i burned the dvd with the following trick.
Because i know, i’ll never use the french installation, i simply deleted the french directory from the Install dir.
This saved me about 400 megs of data and i could burn the whole thing…

posa you don’t need to change the filetype. this can be uncompressed using winrar by opening the .001 file.

Can any1 get regular doors to unlock using lockpicking? When I try to break in to a house at night using sneak and lockpicking my char just stands and does nothing. + whenever I try to pick a chest and take sometking from it a notice appears that my crime has been observed and all the guards r after me even though there was no1 in the room and all the lights were turned off. Is it just me, or does sneak system in this game sux?

I have not done much sneaking, I am playing more as a warrior type this first play through. However I did pump some skill into lock picking (because of the nice items you can get out of the harder chests in the game). The only house I stole anything out of was the rebel leader guy up in the mountains. I got pissed at all the work I was doing for those assholes and decided to up my “pay” a little by stealing from them. =P Anyhow, when i robbed them and went outside the first time the guards were waiting for me so I just ran off into the woods and came back a little later and everything seemed fine. Not quite sure how the theft aspect totally works in this game, many of us are just kinda learning as we go along with this one, as there is no gamefaq guide or anything. I kinda think thats a good thing as knowing every little trick in this game would ruin it a but on this first play through.

The problem is that I always play this way. Every game that allowed me to play as a silent thief/assassin. So this kind of telepathic behaviour is the biggest buggy bug-eyed bug I’ve ever seen. Speeking of assassins, the silent kill dosnt work too. When I sneak behind an npc and execute the sneak kill command the char does only the animation and nothing happens. The npc just notices me and back to normal fighting. Works on horses though. ;)

I finally got this game working. But I cant get any sound while playing, only in the movies (just like posa). And that kinda sucks.
Anyone know of a fix for this problem?

For everyone who can speak German I ve found a review:
To summ up it says that the game’s programmers just coded a low-quality-software that abuses customers as betatesters.
I may hurt a rule by posting a non-english article, but it ll be too much work for me to translate it and if you dont wont to read it, you dont have to ;p
