TV Show & Film News

Here is my first News post. I will try and keep you in touch with the latest movies and TV show news. I won’t fill the news with celebrity gossip and crap but interesting news about the latest stuff. So enjoy.

Seth Rogen is Paul

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and director Greg Mottola have picked a solid comedy support team to their alien road trip comedy Paul. Top of the list is Seth Rogen, who will voice the titular character, an alien that two sci-fi fanatics (Pegg and Frost) encounter on a trip to Area 51. While Paul will largely be CG, Rogen’s voice means he should also be suitably chucklesome. Also joining the roster is a healthy crop of current comedy talent – Bill Hader (who worked with Rogen and Mottola on Superbad), Jason Bateman, Kristin… (Continue/Source)

Fox to remake Alien?

We’ll serve one this up straight: a reliable source has tipped off Bloody Disgusting that Twentieth Century Fox is remaking Alien. Some days, we just wish the world would end to spare us further suffering. The tipster appears to be reliable, after previously leaking news that Robert Rodriguez would be producing a Predator reboot way back in January this year. According to him/her, Michael Costigan, Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are on board to produce. They have even tapped commercial/music video director Carl Rinsch to direct. Rinsch… (Continue/Source)

DreamWorks Animation has eight movies planned

In one of those big, grandstanding events designed to please the moneymen, DreamWorks Animation boss Jeffrey Katzenberg has announced eight films that the company is working on. Some we already knew about – Viking fantasy comedy How To Train Your Dragon arrives next spring, while Shrek Forever After (formerly Shrek Goes Forth) is planned for May across the pond. But it looks like 2010 will be a crowded 12 months, since the DreamWorks team seems convinced that audiences will lap up three films from the company. So November… (Continue/Source)

Toy Story 3 Teaser Hits The Net

In the most exciting toy-based event since we got our Ninja Turtle action figures back in 1990, a new teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 has been posted online. It’s a decade since the first sequel, Toy Story 2, hit screens and since then Pixar has been bought by Disney, and churned out some of the best films of the naughties. All the Pixar buzz so far this year has rested on the shoulders of the sure-to-be-outstanding Up, which is released in October. But with debut of this teaser, tongues will surely be wagging in anticipation of… (Continue/Source)

Jay Leno Ends Tonight Show Run by Repopulating the Earth

“Goodnight, everybody,” Jay Leno began when it appeared doubtful that the rabid standing ovation would ever cease. After more than a minute of hoots and applause, the audience finally quieted down so that Leno, after 17 years behind the wheel of the late-night staple, could welcome the crowd to “the exciting season finale of the Tonight Show.” “I want to thank all the people that made it possible—Michael Jackson, Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton.” But as the Leno faithful know, it was the easygoing charm and spot-on delivery of the prominent-chinned, uniquely coiffed comedian who kept millions (Continue/Source)

great post… i didn't know about any of this.

Sorry to the other poster who is obviously a dork…I actually have a job, don't live with mom and dad and can't sit around and check E news. So this post is a hell of a lot better than your 'been posted already but we are vein' "music picks" which I think are just a way to take up a spot to bring you closer to your ads.

Anyway, does anyone else feel like Seth Rogen is being stuffed down out throats? Same with Christan Bale. I don't see what the big deal is.

This is the problem with sites like rlslog… You do one thing good (well, kind of good), but then try to branch out and do other stuff (news, for example…), however, you are still focused on the one thing you did well, so all of your branching out projects just end up sucking because you aren't putting the time you need into them.

Plenty of other websites do this much better and much faster with more frequent updates, just stick to what you are good at, and don't try new things. I don't want this junk cluttering my RSS.

So, we have Martin cross-posting stuff from ZitZot (yes, we get it, you have a new Tech News blog – if we wanted to read ZitZot posts, we'd GO TO ZITZOT), now we have Vantec posting movie news – does it not occur to the editors that we come to Releaselog because we want a Log of the latest scene Releases?

Is there at least a way to filter this crap out?

  13. ImRightYourWrong
    May 30th, 2009 | 08:20

    PS: @5
Assuming that wasn't sarcasm, the problem isn't that you aren't interested in things like this, the problem is that this news is already 2-3 days old. RLSLOG is ok at posting scene releases because they are often listed less than an hour or two after pre. I'm sorry, but for INTERNET news, 2-3 day old news is simply worthless.

If you are interested in this kind of stuff, just check TV news websites, there are 5 trillion of them. If rlslog's RSS for news was separate from the main RSS, then maybe I wouldn't care AS much… although I still think its a dumb idea to post paragraph summaries of 2-day-old news and pass it off as content.

I fcking hate TimeWarner, they fcking dropped HDNET AND HDNET MOVIES today, I was going to watch Dream 9 Olympia and when I put it on that channel it says it is no longer available. Heck this was planned for months by them and I never heard anything about it. They added these stup!d channels instead, Smithsonian HD and MavTV HD. Well I am finally going to cancel my sevices after 10 years with them. Time Warner can go to H3ll and Suck it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

save your bashing for fox, they are doing it yet again. as if X4 and T4 weren't enough.

PLS stop the medicore spinoffs overdone with CGI lacking any solid story. I hope who ever is making this decisions and hires rediculous bad directors to do the job is going to be eaten by the one and only alien (dead long ago I am afraid).

@ I don't mind some media news like this. Not so bothered about Jay Leno and their ilk but news that Fox is going to screwup yet another classic movie is welcome. I don't spend my days reading news on the web, the only site I check daily, religiously is RlsLog. Key items of news like this I do appreciate it so keep it up and ignore the minority of whingers.

Seth Rogan, you're done. You've brought nothing to the genre of comedy, and your movies are as forgettable as your characters. You will not be remembered, RIP.

Hollywood, get a clue we're dying for something "clever".

Thanks for posting these. I saw the show, but it's good to have a place where we can get a copy without having to putz around with the VCR. By the way, there'll NEVER be another Johnny. Leno was good, but Johnny was king. And as for that dufas Conan, well…I guess I'll be heading to bed after the news now
