    So glad the 720p version came out first. Xvid should be completely done away with when it comes to scene releases. All modern PC's are capable of playing 720p mkv's with no problem.

    gomplayer will work, but it uses most processing. On the CC Cleaner website – you should have that free utility – there is a free video converter ("Any Video Converter"), which will convert anything. even PAL to NTSC.

    Wrong. This site is good for keeping up to date with scene releases, but instead of wasting my time navigating through virus-laden multiple links from random trolls and waiting 15 minutes or more in between downloads, I just grab the nzb and download from usenet more conveniently and much faster. This site is just more convenient as a homepage and finding out whats been released.

    If you actually used an nzb hosting website, you would know that there are trusted nzb posters who NEVER post viruses. I don't download Xvid releases anyway, which is what the virus was in. The 720p version that I already downloaded and watched was virus free since I only download from those trusted posters that I mentioned.

    re: usenet

    The problem is that you can put anything in your header info in most readers (kinda like here, heh?), and unless you're checking the full headers, most people just see the 'From' field and assume it's the same uploader. In this case 'teh' is a long time uploader, and thus a target for spammers, cashwhores, and virus pimps to do a bait-and-switch with.

    Always check the full headers and know the signature ID's for regulars you download from, folks.

    There seem to be a lot more phishers and crap around here than usual these past few months (sigh) – shame on them. They need to find a way to keep everyone clean(er) around here – email confirmations, registering, recommendation buttons for good posters, the whole bit.

    @ #15 – J, I hate people like you seriously like everyone can afford a 'modern' computer. When you say modern; i have to assume anything that is less than 4 years old. In perticular those that have multiple proccessors, and is not first dual core generation tech like HTT.

    Because i have a computer that is almost 6 years old with HTT, and no matter what i do i can't play these 720p HD mvk files. My computer craps out on me every single time, i've tried everything to get them to work.

    From upgrading my gfx card and overlocking it, lowering the settings on my OS for preformance; adding extra HDD space as well as RAM, to downloading every media player known to man including the two most widely recommended VLC and MPC-HC.

    Not to mention the codecs THE FREAKING CODECS!; coreAVC is recognized as being the world's fastest H.264 software video decoder. Well not for me!, the only time i've ever had success is if i burned it onto a DVD. But i only do that when i'm collecting, still though even then i would prefer DVDRip's over these .mvk tvrips.

    I feel your pain but I have a 5 year old single core P4 with HT (hyper threading, if that's what you were referring to HTT as) to go along with my i7 custom built gaming rig that I put together. I've never used CoreAVC, but my old P4 641 HT (not OC'd) plays 720p files just fine with KMPlayer. I'm guessing your cpu is just not powerful enough? What's the exact cpu you're using?

  68. J
    July 20th, 2009 | 05:37

    @86, dubs

    Your ps3 WILL play mkvs if you download this nifty little program called tsmuxer and mux it into an m2ts file. It will in fact play them brilliantly. Research my friend, research.

    And for people having issues with MKV files……USE KMPLAYER, NOT VLC! VLC is not that great at playing MKV's.

    @91 – I like DivX because they will play on my standalone DVP-5982 DivX DVD player connected to my 53" HDTV in my living room.
    I would love the watch 720p or 1080p, but the quality difference doesn't justify (for me) the 3x to 10x increase in download size or the HTPC (or other alternative) that I have to buy.

    @ J – That's the impression i got about my PC when i downloaded an HQ file for the first time. My specs; IP4 3GHz processor, with a FSB speed of 800MHz, 1MB L2 Cache.

    Why aren't there more posts like #99, considering if it's the real; haven't downloaded it myself. Not to long ago i downloaded an episodes that was clearly a re-encode of a 720p .mvk file. It was significantly smaller vis a vis post #99, it was in avi format, and played great on my PC. No differently than a Xvid or DivX encode.

    If you would have read my previous post, you'd see that you CAN play mkv files in the ps3 using the program tsmuxer and muxing the mkv into an m2ts file. It only takes a few minutes and I used to do it all the time before I got my WD HD Media player. I guess in your case ignorance is bliss.

    @93, Stu

    Nzbmatrix is very immune from viruses if you stick to trusted posters only and aren't a complete idiot. Of course a quality anti-virus would help too. One that actually detects the virus before you extract the exe and double click it, lol. I've been downloading from there for 3 years now and never once had an infection on my pc. Just have to use a little common sense. I guess it does all boil down to the intelligence (or lack therof) of the user though.
