Troy 2004 Directors Cut 720p HDDVD x264-SiNNERS

Hmm, SiNNERS come with a directors cut of Troy this time. I haven’t seen this movie for myself but I heard some people talk about it (mbliss984 :P ) and they weren’t too positive about it. I think you guys just have to see for yourself if you think the plot sounds cool (tough it’s HUGE: almost 8GB).

It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnom to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy. The whole movie shows their battle struggles, and the foreshadowing of fate in this remake by Wolfgang Petersen of Homer’s “The Iliad.”

    Mmmmmm, Brad Pitt in HD.

    Anyone know if this directors cut version improves on the original? This one seems to be about 40 minutes longer than the original.

    This is all I could find on IMDB about the directors cut version:

    Director’s Cut runs 198 minutes and features more sex and violence.

  14. cirithungol
    October 9th, 2007 | 22:15

    This version is a massive improvement over the theatrical cut. Much more violence in the battle scenes, and much more fleshed out storylines and characters (quite literally in some cases… grrr naked Diane Kruger :D )

    The extra scenes does improve the film, but the changed the fight scene and it totally ruins the movie…

    The best scene in the movie gets the worst treatment ever. The changed the music and it doesn’t connect with the scene at all. It makes the scene have no impact whatsoever, and it makes all the other extra scenes worthless.

    One of the worst DC’s ever just because of one scene. Could have been good, but when they make some scenes better and others worse, they still just end up at good…

  17. Brad Pitt
    October 9th, 2007 | 22:22

    I hope you will all enjoy this beautiful HD version of my film.
    I had a great time making the movie, and I want to thank everyone for getting the word out on this director’s cut which features 40 more minutes of intense action and story. Enjoy!

    October 9th, 2007 | 22:23

    Yeah #15 doesn’t censorship suck? Hypocrisy at its finest.

    Anyway i will be getting this, for some reason though i dont think the Trojans win in the end…. i could be wrong though LOL. Original release was decent enough, ancient Greek warfare is always an easy sell.

    haha, thanks for the heads up mr. Pitt!

    But seriously, couldn´t they release it as 4GB? Is there really that much of a difference between this and 8GB? At least for those of us watching on a small screnn, as for me I am going to watch this on my MBP, 1440X900.

    @Enola

    For another take on the music, here is a passage from dvd talk review:

    As you can imagine, slapping an extra 30+ minutes into the film cries out for seamless alterations with the musical accompaniment. Thankfully, a new score has been formulated for this director’s cut. One of my problems with the flow of the theatrical edition was the brusque yet gratingly bland music accompanying a lot of the scenes, especially with the key one-on-one battle in the film. It’s incredible how the demeanor of a film can shift purely due to a change in music. This cut boasts a strong complimentary effect with its proportionate score, especially when it stretches a once obnoxiously loud film into a leaner, more beautiful work.

    Dude, this is HD quality, it has to be this around this size to actuallly get HD quality out of it! If you make it smaller, like 4GB, you might as well just download the DVDRip.

    October 9th, 2007 | 23:00

    @22 lee welton

    The strange thing is that the music sounds the same, pretty bad, but the scene I was talking about has the same length as the one in the TC, so there should be no reason to change it.
    The music they changed it with is not new, but stolen from “The Planet of the Apes Remake”. It is the main theme from “pota”, and it doesn’t work at all. No connection with the scene.
    Had it been new music it might have worked, but it seems like they just used “temp” score and it sucks bad.

    Sorry but 8GB is very little ..come on we live in a digital world now you can get 50mbit (Verizon FIOS) in the USA. This took me less than 30 minutes to download from NG. If you want QUALITY get the HD , if you just want to watch the movie get the DVDRip in XVID.

    Watched yesterday non-hd version! One day to early, damned! I remember back watching it in 2004, I thought this movie will suck and then by the half of it, it was already one of my favorites. Directors cut is much better- 3 hours totally worth of your time. Remember “300″? You kind of liked it? Well, Troy is incomparably better. For those who like suck kind of movies and HD releases I suggest torrenting series “Rome” (2 seasons mini).

    Speed isn’t really the issue, download limits are the problem. I live in Flanders and over here all internet providers have pretty tight data transfer limits. Some ISPs only give their customers 15GB per month, others 35GB and some of the smaller ISPs 50GB.

    Won’t your ISP allow you to buy more GB per month? Or you could sign up for a second account to get more GB/month?

    Are you on a very limited/low price plan that includes only limited amounts of data? In the US, Comcast cable has started limiting some areas to 70GB/month, maybe you could switch to them?

  70. Thomas
    October 10th, 2007 | 14:35

    @62

    No, I’m not on a low-cost Internet plan. There’s very limited competition in the broadband Internet market in my country and that leads to absurd things like 10Mbps or 20Mbps Internet connections that only have 15GB or in my case 35GB download limits.

    It’s possible to buy more gigabytes but that costs 1EUR per GB.

    Media Player Classic using the Cole2K codec pack. I don’t know if the subtitles are encoded into the video or not.
