Does it have the feature of offline messaging of live messenger ?
Then it would be worth a try

tried Miranda, will stick with Trillian due to the ability to create MetaContacts (several nicknames for one person).

Miranda has a plugin, but the plugin actually creates groups which destroys interoperability with other messengers (e.g. meebo). So as I reverted back to Trillian I had one million groups with different usernames as names.

question: Live messenger, you mean Microsoft`s? I wasn’t aware it supported this feature… It supports offline messenges with ICQ.

    Chatting online is so lame.
Its for losers who have no friends other than people they havent even met!

  8. November 15th, 2007 | 12:45

this is a nice application but i still think Miranda is way better - and free.

I bought trillian a while back, used it for a few years, and gave it up. To big of a resource hog, too much extra stuff i didn’t need, and the Audio/Video conversation simply DID NOT WORK. I was very annoyed at having paid for something that just didn’t work.

I gave up on ever having audio/video in a multi-im app. So I tried Miranda, GAIM, and a few others…all nothing special.

I stumbled across Pidgin, and i’ve been using it ever since, simple easy, free, i like it FAR better than miranda, http://www.pidgin.im/

i do not think this proggy is worth mentioning.
as others here have mentioned…miranda does the job.
instead of pushing cracked software that is bad
i would have preferred to see a downloadlink to miranda or alike.
Would miranda be sexier if i’d put the installer on rapidshare? ;)

trillian is bloated, too much fancy useless features. i tried pidgid, i might use it for other oses but not on windows (miranda is the choice).

miranda is perfect if your a minimalist, who use a messenger purely for chatting not voice/video. very low on resources, lots plugins, etc.

I use windows messenger (I hate it) but I like being able to see if I have new emails in my Hotmail account. Can any of these other ones link to my e-mail?

    @13 Bilbo’s comment:

I agree, I tried Trillian and had the same issue: video conversation/webcam did not work, as it gave the girl I was trying to cam with this error: (loosely) won’t work because the user does not have a supported version of windows live messenger. That’s a pissoff, it gives THEM the error, they ask you about it, and you get to proceed to install Windows Live Messenger Bloatware. Does pidgin work well with cams and such? last I checked it was fairly limited in it’s features, although did perform well.

Trillian is such a CPU hog…I’m going back to Miranda-IM. Don’t get me wrong it’s very nice, just wish it weren’t such a CPU hog…
