Trillian Pro v3 1 6 0-TE

Few days ago group Twisted EndZ shortly TE, released a new version of well know multi IM client. So what’s all about with that Trillian? Why it’s so special? Well, it allows you to chat with your buddies over the net without worries what client they have. For example, you have MSN, and your friend ICQ. In that case usually you’ll need to install a ICQ client too. Really? No! Just install Trillian, few clicks to set up it, and there you go!

Trillian™ is a fully featured, stand-alone, skinnable chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC. It provides capabilities not possible with original network clients, while supporting standard features such as audio chat, file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, multiple simultaneous connections to the same network, server-side contact importing, typing notification, direct connection (AIM), proxy support, encrypted messaging (AIM/ICQ), SMS support, and privacy settings.

Without stealing your home page and with no other included software, pop-ups, or spyware, Trillian provides unique functionality such as contact message history, a powerful skinning language, tabbed messaging, global status changes (set all networks away at once), Instant Lookup (automatic Wikipedia integration), contact alerts, an advanced automation system to trigger events based on anything happening in the client, docking, hundreds of emoticons, emotisounds, shell extensions for file transfers, and systray notifications.

Still my very favorite messenger. Tried GAIM – ugly and not that nicely skinnable.

Trillian will come in a fresh and new version soon: http://www.trillianastra.com/

Trillian used to be a resource hog. Has that changed? Doesn’t really matter seeing as I only have 2 people I talk to online with any regularity anymore, and they’re both on Yahoo messenger, but I’m just curious.

Forget shitty adbloated MSN Messenger, forget costly Trillian, forget old ugly GAIM. Just use Pidgin, great new version, it’s also free. http://pidgin.im/pidgin/home/

Try Miranda… lighter than Trillian, more customisable than Pidgin / GAIM, is Open Source and has skins / customisation up the wazoo.

I second the the try miranda message – it’s free, portable, small, customizable. I did try trillian years ago but believe miranda to be infinitely better.

Trillian is reliable & allows all the major IM to be used together. Also has good plugins (weather, performance, email …) but this is only a security/maintenance release. They haven’t updated it in years & their new product has had a gestation of several years …. & not ready yet.

Trillian is a bitch to set up no matter how many times I’ve done it in the past. Pidgin is the one I’ve stuck with so far, Miranda I haven’t tried. Trillian is at least good in that it has audio and video support. I’m not sure of anything else in particular it does better than Pidgin.

Pidgin = GAIM, so I’m glad people FAVOR Pidgin… well of course -it’s the new version.

Trillian Resource Hog? Well more than miranda for sure, but 17MB Ram ain’t that much on my machine ;)

trillian is bloated, it tries to be fancy to cater to idiots. for pure im’ing (no audio/video nonsense) on multiple networks, use miranda its is much better http://www.miranda-im.org/

I dont know about miranda or trillian, i have used gaim for a long time and this new pidgin looks pretty neat.

What is the talk about pidgin not being able to be customized ? Its GTK+ based, and you can change the whole look by selecting the GKT+ themes

Does anyone know a similar program for Pocket PC or a good PPC warez site?

I prefer miranda too. Small, nice and tons of plugins, skins, everything. I tried trillian earlier but it ate my ram (i have a weaker machine so its important for me. The lacks of miranda: no video support.

Trillian looks good but it takes an age to load up at startup.

Almost as bad as Steam when I had HL2.

Miranda all the way. No video support? It’s not a mediaplayer…

    Miranda is the dog’s bollox.
Smaller, faster, easy to use instant messenger with support for multiple protocols…oh, and it’s free.
