Trapt – Only Through the Pain (2008)

Hard rockers Trapt, in another August 5th release, are releasing their latest album Only Through the Pain.  Their last two albums, fueled by monster singles like “Headstrong”, “Still Frame”, and “Echo”, have raised their previous efforts to platinum and gold.  Can they expect similar success for this release?  Time will tell.  In the mean time, we have it for you now, courtesy of VAG.

On their third studio album platinum rockers Trapt have not only returned to form but shattered expectations of what a rock disc can be. With Only Through The Pain, the Northern California-reared, L.A. based band returned to Co-Producer Gggarth Richardson’s Vancouver studio to rekindle the magic that helped propel its 2002 eponymous debut past two million in sales. The end result is a disc that’s as heartfelt and ingenious as it is diverse and seamlessly rewarding. From the riff-roaring, high energy anthem ‘Wasteland’ to the deeply moving finale ‘The Last Tear’, the eleven-song follow up to Trapt’s 2005’s gold-certified Someone In Control again finds front man, guitarist and principal songwriter Chris Taylor Brown going deep.

At #2 you aren’t very smart are you?

Those singles have hit #1 on billboard as have both of their previous albums. They are a ultra mega popular band, and a pretty good one too.

The last of the nu-metal ‘our band name is a word but speld rong’ bands.

May they all work at Guitar Centers across America for the rest of their days.

I won’t lie, I enjoyed Trapt’s previous CD’s, but this one is just plain horrible. This is not rock. Waste of time on their part.

Trapt is pretty decent. thanks for the heads up.

To everyone else bad mouthing them… I’m sure your music taste is “the right taste” – and is backed by your Phd in music. Maybe your personal experience in a famous rock band helps as well.

As for “our band name is a word but speld rong”… you are on “rlslog” so how does it actually matter..? Clearly they have marketed themselves successfully regardless of the spelling. So take a seat, ass clown.

How about posting about appreciation that about free stuff being shared. If you have nothing better to do than being immature and flame crap to make yourself sound “cooler”, then go play on some xbox forums.
Otherwise, I personally appreciate this post, thanks!

thanks. I prefer to listen to this album than any rnb or hiphop and goth metal songs.

The album cover reminds me of that South Park episode where Cartman starts a Christian rock band. They’re all looking away from the camera to seem cool.

“As for “our band name is a word but speld rong”… you are on “rlslog” so how does it actually matter..? Clearly they have marketed themselves successfully regardless of the spelling. So take a seat, ass clown.”

Yes, you pwned me good. I should like any band’s ability to market themselves in spite of their idiotic desire to spell their name wrong… wtf? MARKETING? Is that the best thing you can say about this bad? They market themselves well? So did Aaron Carter. Did you like him too?

And I don’t quite get the “you’re here at ‘rlslog’” part of your feeble rant. Because they don’t spell out the full ‘releaselog’? I’m pretty sure RLS is standard abbreviation among the scene community, so it’s not like they did it for d*ck-all any-old-reason like TrapT.

Haha, it’s funny you bring up my credentials also, because, while not famous, I have toured with 2 bands, one playing guitar and one guitar/backup vocals. Nothing serious but then again, I guess we didn’t ‘market ourselves well’ or, better yet, actually care about becoming famous. And then, if you want to get into it, I was assistant editor for a Midwest music magazine for 1 year. Again, I’m not bragging, the magazine was pretty small, only maybe 20,000 circulation, but if you want to act like you’re some music genius, don’t assume other people are just ‘ass-clown’ idiots.

    End.

that picture of them looking away isn’t the album art… the one with the girl in the underwear and TRAPT written on it is the cover. The picture of themselves is just an old promo shot.

The only album I liked of these guys was the first one, the 2nd one sucked, and I’m not gonna bother with this one. Just my opinion, if anyone here likes this band, good for you ;)

Finally, a decent band. Looks like the rap fans are hypocrites coming here and bad-mouthing this band after they complained about me saying I don’t like rap. Take your wannabe selves and get over it.

“TiredofRap” get over YOURSELF. you sound like the typical emo moron that would listen to this trash. Expect a punch in the face on 08-08-08 (national emo kid beatdown day)

….you’ve got to me kidding me…”through the pain” ???? Its just shows you that pop culture will do whatever it needs to get pu$$y (including defaming/defacing yourself and joining a inbred emo band and having stupid girlish haircuts while wearing “pre-ripped” or “pre-worn” jeans [bought for $100+] and singing about breakups and your ‘inner rage’. Give it up- just another tactic to get p00n. If you need to sellout to get laid, and can’t get it with creating your OWN originality- you sirs, are d0uchebags.

oh yeah and “tiredofrap” you obviously haven’t heard good hip-hop. If your idea of “rap” is Chingy, Lil’ john, and idiots like that- then YES- “rap” sucks. But check groups like The A-alikes, and dead prez, the coup, Paris, the conscious daughters, etc…just to name a COUPLE. Saying all rap sucks just makes you look ignorant….

I loved trapts first two cd’s I could work out to the music it was pretty awesome but this new cd is like all for girls. they have a couple hard songs and the rest is just soft crap about chicks. People can only hear so many love songs before they just get tired of it. I got the cd. Listened sold it back. what a let down.

I liked Trapt’s first album a lot, even though they’re not really my style. The earnestness of the lyrics really won me over. Their second album, however, was a major disappointment. I guess I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt in regards to this record – but not enough to purchase it before listening.
