Transformers HD DVD 1080p AVC/MPEG-4 DD-CtrlHD

And yes, there it is: Transformers HDDVD! This is the 1080p version (MPEG-4) so it’s not really what some of you guys wanted but here’s a start (oh, and it has lots of subtitles!). It’s released by some group called CtrlHD, wich I never heard of. I don’t think this movie really needs an intro, so just grab this one guys :D Oh and please, take a look at that size :)

A long time ago, far away on the planet of Cybertron, a war was being waged between the noble Autobots (led by the wise Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons (commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control over the Allspark, a mystical talisman that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He eventually tracked it to the planet of Earth (circa 1850), but his reckless desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold forced him into a paralyzed state. His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to engrave a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captain’s glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captain’s ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captain’s glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth – in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all “specimens of this alien race,” and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of Hoover Dam, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens…

Thanks for posting and for the samples Bram. But I know my computer would crash if I even tried 1080p. The best my computer can do is 720p. Also I think its cool for you to post non scene if it is a good quality. I personally like DragonRipper624 even though they are recoded scene releases. I would like to see how shiny Optimus Prime is. Also is Megan Fox really sexy or is it also special effects by Michael Bay ?

As said.. 26gb is crazy. Need like 30-50mbit/s downloadspeed if it should go alittle smooth.

Its crazy that they ripped it in hd-dvd and not bluray(maybe doesnt exist on BR).
What I find is that HD-dvd(emptys) costs about 5times more then bluray-emptys. Both 25gbs.
So download this movie, burn on a hd-dvd and u will make maybe €15 on it. :-P (of course u dont have to burn your movies)
Nah, give us BR-rlses that is cheaper to buy.

It’s either a very noisy release (might be source) or the samples are just bad. Doesn’t look that good. I mean, look at the jacket in sample #3. Or the noise in sample #4. Can’t be too long until a proper x264 version will be released.

Ill wait for the x256 or what ever the right codec is.

    October 27th, 2007 | 11:05

It’s not worth the download! The picture is to grainy… that’s what you get when film is enlarged. A 720p would probably be the best choice for ppl that want to view it on HD displays.

For PC go with UnSeeN… it has the best picture quality!

You kids really are stupid… This release appears (still need to download to make sure it’s legit) to be an actual HD-DVD release. Meaning these are the actual files as located on the HD-DVD disc. They’ve just been decrypted. There’s been NO CONVERTING done at all. This is how the movie looks on the HD-DVD. Screenshots dont do this justice.

You will need a really fast PC and a HD-DVD software player to play these. Or the appropiate demuxers and decoders. Unless you have a HD-DVD burner…

  24. October 27th, 2007 | 11:26

What’s the point of 1080p if you don’t have a good connection or a powerful PC? Waiting for 720p.

Amazing movie. Gotta have the HD in your collection.

    Uhh, description is wrong?

The allspark is a “talisman” granting “unlimited power”? Isn’t it a “huge cube” granting the power to “create life”? And i don’t think megatron sent out a signal to the decepticons, didn’t they learn about the glasses the same way the autobots did, through ebay?

plz guyz, if u r going to do an HDRIP of this
    make it either 1 x dvd5 or 2 x dvd5 (that will be perfect)
don’t make silly 1 x dvd9, as there r hardly anybody who can burn it to a dvd (as double layer dvds r quite expensive)

  52. EddieLa
    October 27th, 2007 | 14:12

    @50. Johnny

If you’re gonna be a video snob, at least be an educated video snob. The grain is part of the film… it’s how the FILM was SHOT. Even if this was released on BluRay, it’ll still have the film grain. I doubt the scenes with the CGI robots have much grain, as expected. So keep waiting for your magical Bluray version, maybe they’ll re-shoot the entire film to your standards and maybe then you’ll be happy.

    October 27th, 2007 | 16:31

Who cares if it’s not a scene release or not, related to movies you usually get better quality from NONE scene releases vs Scene releases, they got to moronic rules, like 700MB for an 1,5 hour movie… LOL, I say 1,4GB minimum for anything of that lenght to be good quality, it’s just utterly mega compressed end blurred out looks always garbage from ANY scene release.

  77. ryley
    October 27th, 2007 | 16:48

Anyone who follows hd/br non-scene full disc rips should know ctrlhd. Their rips are often, not always, used as a source for 720p/1080p x264 encodes. So they are good at what they do.

If I wanted something high quality to watch, I’d rent it or buy it but until then I am quite content to download a regular 700meg movie w/ adequate sound. Anything more than that is overkill and people who are more willing to spend hours pulling a 26gig file down instead of the above really need to re-examine their lifestyle.

Groups should be releasing 700meg movies and stop with the damn 800-900meg rips which are USELESS. 2 Disc releases are a PITA because who wants to get up in the middle of a flick to ‘insert disc 2′ which harkens back to the pre-dvd9 days of 2 DVD movies.

    Nuke THAT!

    Mpeg4/AVC is h.264.

For those people who don’t understand technical stuff…

    I’ll say it again,

    AVC is 264!

Don’t let the mpeg4 part confuse your little brains.

Mpeg4 part 10 is also called AVC which is usually mislabeled as h.264.

    Got it?

Who the hell would take a 264 hd-dvd, then compress it to xvid(mpeg4) and end up with a 26GB file?

Think before you open your orifices!

dude your be better off buying DVD’s and record the dam movie, and wtf do really wanna download 25 GB , man you are crazy
WTF with a decent broadband connection this will take at lest couple of day’s of download and after it’s finished downloading you will watch a movie of 1h 50m movie. you gotta be kidding me.
    i like the 700MB movies, i download them in 2h 30m and watch them.Average movie 1h 30m so almost 1:2 ratio.
so i guess I’m a bit smarter than you :P

if you got a real broadband connection it will take about 30-35 hours to get it, remmber broadband is 2,5Mbit anything less then this is not broadband even if your ISP insist it is.

Some get pissy when files don’t fit onto a single CD. Others want larger files, more files, less files, fit onto a disc, etc.

People need to realize that their way of watching movies is not the way EVERYONE watches them. If the scene releases in one format, half the people are gonna get pissed. Single CD sized files are nice, but quality is lacking for a lot of movies, especially long ones. Two disk releases are better, but like somebody said, changing disks is annoying.
For those who don’t burn to disk, the idea of squeezing movies into a specific size seems stupid. A file size should be determined by movie length and compression quality.

Personally I use a server with about a Terabyte of storage and use my network to stream them around the house. Modded x-boxs are amazing for this, XBMC is a dream. Burning disks seems archaic to me.

So, what I’m trying to say, to all the people who just post flame-bait or rip on s specific release, SHUT UP UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A VALID ARGUMENT.

Maybe most of the flame-baits above, think this 26 GB is a lot to DL, but that’s nothing compared to 110 GB worth when downloading a TV series, such as for example, SG1 all ten seasons rolled into one torrent.

A couple of years ago, the best personal computer at that time was a 486 DX with just a 540MB hard drive. Anyone back then downloading a 650MB video size CD was thought to be considered just crazy, like the above flame-baits thinking for a 26 GB video.

Hitachi is already coming out with 4 TB hard drives, perhaps for the consumers in 2008? The point is, as more individuals use the Internet, their bandwidth will become the issue as how long it takes to download or upload.

With better algorithms will come smaller sized videos, but at the performance requirements of faster processing. So stop complaining, start innovating solutions please.

MPAA … your size comparisons are noted but 26gigs for almost 2.5 hours of movie vs 110gigs 10×20x45mins of Episodes of SG1 is NOT a very good comparison.

26 gigs for 1 movie is plain stupid. What next 10 gig tv episodes???

List of ‘tards not spending $15-25 on a dvd and instead wasting their time downloading 26gigs for one movie and being a cheap b@st@rd.

@108… first, a series is more than 2h of playtime… well, I couldn’t expect a more fuc|ked up comparison than from a mafioso like you!
… and second, a couple of years ago means 2 years!… so 2 years ago we only had 540 MB HDD… let me guess, all this fast-passed evolution of technology fried your brain?

@94, razor, man… I hope you finish that soon… cause these fools really think that having 1080p is better! (at wasting bandwidth)

    And yeah… a few guys above pointed out that a AVC/MPEG-4 is a.k.a. H.264.

What you see after the name… the x264 tag
… that’s the encoder used to recompress the movies. It’s not a codec and it’s not a different format. THIS IS LIKE x264!

    x264 is a software : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X264

  143. Emm
    October 28th, 2007 | 14:12

Death, no one said it’s converted… but just because it’s a direct stream rip doesn’t mean it won’t need the same codecs as the converted x264 releases.

Caesar, if you have a good dual core cpu try the CoreAVC codec.
If it’s to exhausting… you might want to try PowerDVD 7 with PureVideo support installed which will take advantage of you GFX card. Don’t know the results though. If you google for: purevideo 1.02-223 rapidshare
… you’ll find it. Also make sure u have the latest ForceWare drivers. First try the PowerDVD+PureVideo solution, and if it doesn’t work try Media Player Classic + CoreAVC +/- AC3Filter.
