    With GOMPLAYER it automaticly adds the other part of the movie to the playlist. So it can sometimes be hard to tell when the movies actually join :D .

    I use gomplayer for all my movies… Good player. Get it. I recommend!

    Dan, theres only 1 half of Grindhouse available, “Death Proof” i think Zerone means the second release “Planet Terror” from it. Im hangin for that too, thought it was way better than “Death Proof”. Kurt Russell sucked ass, Bruce Willis kicked ass.

    I wish I had the nerve to be as ignorant, but has it ever occured to you that some people dont have 150GB download quota’s on a phat cable pipe in Sweden to download a ****-load of 1.4GB movies. Some of us prefer the smaller 700MB versions.

    Other than that, I don’t happen to own a DivX dvd player (which means I convert them to .vob format before burning to a DVD) and trust me, its a hell of a lot easier working with only 1 avi file rather than two. Great deductions folks. Next time use your heads before calling others noobs.

    Anyway, good movie, I’ll give it a miss until a smaller version appears.

    AXXO releases suck, why do a reencode of a xvid encoded movie? Can’t you create a 700mb version straight from dvd? Multipass XViD? reencoding just means extra quality loss.

    I guess the HD version will come soon, the dvd and hd-dvd are both in stores 16 oct, only encoding the hd version obviously takes a little longer.

    This release is definitely not a R1 retail dvdrip. Just look at this screenshot:http://i19.tinypic.com/4u918yg.jpg. It lacks sharpness, and it lacks colours. My guess its either a good TC or a bad R3 dvd rip (expect a proper soon).

    Thanks mate, I already use ConvertXtoDVD but didn’t know it could join two together like that. Will there be pauses or any sort of gaps when its finally burnt to DVD, or is it a seamless transition from the 1st AVI to the 2nd AVI ?

    Unfortunately theres also the bandwidth issue for me. I only get 14GB a month to work with ;)

    DVD9 is not a region, it only says something about the size of the dvd. DVD5= 4,37gB, DVD9=7,82 gB. R1 means its an region 1 (real retail dvd, best quality), R3 is region 3 (Asia, bad quality but these R3′s usually come out before R1).

    Watched it and it is a dvdrip, but they have rushed the xvid encoding, (it is only 1 pass) to beat other groups.
    A english sheep shagger in work shouted out when this was released and he looked like a right twat, another reason they should ban inbreeding in england.

    I agree with bajs, don’t matter what region, the quality is the same. The only difference you should be worry about is the video signal, PAL or NTSC.

    No R3 usually has a worse quality, and lately the quality is significant lower than R1. The reason for the quality difference is that in asia a lot of illegal dvd’s are sold, and by lowering the quality they hope that those dvd’s will not be sold in the western part of the world.

    The difference isn’t that big but R1 are always better qualitywise than R3. Why do you think that every R3 DVDR release is followed by a R1 DVDR release, and that R3′s labeled as R1 are nuked by the scene? They have a reason for doing so.

    The difference in quality probably isn’t seen by the most of you, but people that see the difference in quality with a transcoded DVD9->DVD5 and a 8 pass CCE DVD9->DVD5 will know what i mean.

    Ofcourse there always are exeptions, and sometimes a R3 release has the same quality as a R1, but most of the time it isn’t as good as a R1.

    Why do they keep encoding in 2 CDs with a definition of only 640×272? In 2 CDs, we can easily make it 720×306 (highest playable definition on DVD/Divx players) for a 2h20 movie. Movies would look better. When I do a Xvid DVDrip myself, I always do it with this maximum definition of 720 in 1400 Mo or 1/3 of a DVD capacity (2100 Mo for a 3h movie and more) and it looks better than 640.

    Plus, here I’m concerned about the pixellisation in the background. Look at the green wall behind Jon Voight in the sample. Doesn’t look that good.

    one day you might make alittle sense the scene nukes R3s Labeled as R1 simply because of that reason its misslabeled you put a dot in the wrong place on the name tag the scene nukes it, also the comment about the quality of R3 to R1 ok asia got the issue of piracy so you think they would drop the quality on there retail dvds ? why would they drop the quality that would have the oppisite affect to what they are against (Piracy) if the quality is shit on the dvd then people would just dl what they want of the net and have the same results (shit quality)

    i dont see why everyone complains about finally getting a transformers movie that is actually watchable. for months all ive seen in forums etc. “wheres transformers blahblahblah” and now here it is and all i hear is “no way its a dvdrip, im waiting blahblahblah” get over it. why would there even be an r5 at this point? maybe its not the best quality dvdrip ever, but it works for me.

    Why anyone would go with a 640×272 res encode in the age of 720p and 1080p I’ll never know. Unless you have the viewing area really rather small for this, it looks terrible.

    On the plus side, the audio quality in this is an absolutely enormous leap up from that of the old TS, but it seems silly to partner the 5.1 audio with this low a resolution.

    While ultimately a higher res encode with standard 2 channel audio would’ve probably been a better way to go, you still have to tip your hat to FLAiTE for this admittedly awesome rip.

    - Michael Mann : The Last of the Mohicans, The Insider, Heat, Miami Vice, etc…
    - Michael Bay : The Rock, Bad Boys 1+2, Armageddon, etc…

    I agree with respect to the rez. I think the scene needs to reexamine their rules and start encoding using all possible resolution a dvd player can handle. But I also would like groups to start ripping bonus features too, especially alternate endings and for comedys, bonus/deleted scenes.

    I think you are getting R3 confused with the russian R5 DVDs.
    I have seen seen R1 and R3 DVDs of films like the incredibles and trust me both are exactly the same in terms of picture quality. in fact the R3 release had 5 audio languages which is quite a lot.

    Russian R5 DVDs are dirt cheap original DVDs released by studios only in russia.it only has russian audio and the picture quality is not that great as its not optimised for DVDs.
    Although many more countries other than russia fall in region 5 but those region 5 DVDs should not be confused with Russian R5s as these come out a lot later and have as good a quality as R1 and do have english audio.

    Not only do we get the scenes from around the middle of the movie that were missing from the 20th TS release, but the additional scenes that show during the end credits are also included.

    Hold on, dude. You’re not exactly with me. When I said “720″, I didn’t mean “720p”. You can’t have 720p out of a DVD. I meant 720 as the horizontal definition, not vertical. Region 1 DVDs have a definition of anamorphic 720×480 (ntsc). And DVD players are limited with DVD definition anyway. Thats why when I do it myself, I do it with maximum 720 pixels horizontal definition, and it looks better than 640 even with the same of size of 1400 Mo.

    Sorry I made a mistake between the two directors Micheal Bay has a worst track of films then Micheal Mann. At lest Micheal Mann done films like Last of the Mohicans if BEBARs film list is rights. I see Micheal Bay has a history of making big dumb action movies Bad Boys 1+2, Armageddon are not exactly steller movies.

    to paul: i was just thinking to myself outloud really, its just that i like to read comments and it seems like half the people that leave them do nothing but complain. i really have no clue how most of this movie jargon works, i just know when it comes out i d/l it and make me a movie. as long as it looks good enough to watch and hear on my tv then it beats 8.50 for a movie ticket and 20+ for a dvd with “special features”. i just figured, for as long as umpteen million ppl were waiting on this and here it is, there sure are a lot of ppl complaining about what it’s not or what it could be or what it should have been done like.

    Even better: using VirtualDubMod, open CD1 then go to “File” and “Append segment” and select CD2. Save a direct stream copy of the video and giddyup, you got your 2 parts glued together. Burn it on a DVD instead of 2 CDs and that’s it.

    If this release is nuked or possibly a different source is used, then there might be a new scene Rip and I’m sure Rlslog will give any new release it’s own post.

    As for this Rip being only one pass – where’s the proof. No, I don’t mean opinion, conjecture and idle speculation, but proof. For a start, the Scene Codec rules state that 2 pass encoding is a requirement and there is currently no Nuke on this release. Also I doubt an established, well respected group like FLAiTE would risk getting the piss taken out of them for an encode pass.

    Rip is fine, if your not happy wait for that egomaniac twat(who’s name I will not mention) to do his shit, although I’m sure it will be from this source, until Blockbuster gets a copy. ;)

    Take a look at all dvdrips FLAiTE has released. They’re not famous for making crisp video… Compare their releases to Diamond’s or Vomit’s or… any other qualitygroup’s.

    I’m not saying FLAiTE do bad releases, but i guess they could improve their encoding skills a bit.

    FLAITE are the ones who released Spider-Man 3, which is nearly the same running time and the exact same specifications of audio (ac3 5.1 448 kbps) and video definition (640×272) and yet it looked better than this Transformer. So one might wonder what happened here.

    I’m at the part where Bumblebee pees on that goverment agent… that was funny! :) )

    The thing about 2-pass enc. can’t be prooven, but since we are talking about FLAiTE, GET REAL!!! It’s 2-pass.

    The “pixelation” that everybody is mentioning is in fact known a tiling… since those blocks are called tiles, just this fact prooves what n00bs are bitchin’ on RLSLOG!

    As for the comparison with Spiderman 3… that movie didn’t even had as much action / scene movement as this movie does… besides, in SP3 there are a lot of scenes with sand, so a lot of blured images which == smaller imagesize which in term == over better image quality for the rest of the scenes, where as in Transformers there are a lot of action scenes with complex shapes so they do take their toll on the over quality!

    It could be a r5 release, i dont know about the release dates in the states but in the uk the dvd release id december 3rd…..i just may not be that fussy but to be honest i cant always tell the difference between the quality of an r5 of dvdrip, maybe i have just had reallt good r5 releases (well except bean that was awful quality for an r5)

    Transformers looks fine to me though as far as dvdrips go, just download and enjoy and stop picking holes in the quality!

    If you want to collect… wait for a better realease… although I don’t know how much you’ll wait!

Why don’t you take the medicine your shrink prescribed you to calm you down before using your keyboard, huh? Funny you mention sand from Spider-Man 3. Clouds of sand or smoke are exactly what’s problematic to encode and Spider-Man 3 from FLAITE looked pretty good anyway. Look at the sample here from Transformers. Just a calm briefing, not a big action sequence and it doesn’t look that good. Hideous pixellized green wall in the background. If only I had access to the DVD9, I’d do it myself using DVDdecrypter and AutoGordianKnot in 720×304 and ac3 5.1 and I’m confident the result would be better. I would even do it in 1/3 DVD to gain a few extra MOs on compression. That’s what I did with Star Wars 2 and 3, running time also about 2h20, big action sequences, explosions, cloods of smokes, rainstorm, etc. and when I see the result, I don’t complain; it looks pretty close to DVD quality.

    a big thanks for the download, i’ve been wanting to see this (torrent averaged 30kbps) but this really is blocky, and not just the action sequences.

    i could understand if it was a 700mb, but a 2cd should be much better than this, especially a dvdrip (its a bit dark, i think its an r5).

    I notice it says 515 kps for the bit rate above on the release info but Gspot shows 909 after merging the 2 files using virtualdub on my computer. 909 seems more likely for 2 hours & 20 minutes or so. The sample does show 525 in gspot however. So I’m wondering if the sample is actually lower quality than the movie file.

    I think it looks not too bad & will watch it tonight but I agree with others it could have been better especially in a 3 CD or something.

    Of course the video quality is low. It’s pure math. The movie is 2hr20mns long and the audio is 448 kbps 6-channel. That’s nice for the sound enthusiasts who have home cinema equipment, but that leaves less space for video. The more you put into fancy sound, the less you can put into the video. Since this is an action flick, you need at least 1000 kbps of video at the very minimum. You can’t have video at that rate AND fit the fancy AC3 6-channel sound onto just 2 CD’s. FLAiT should have used their brains and made do with 192 kbps stereo or spread the whole thing over 3 CD’s. In any case, who gives a f*** about 6-channel sound on a movie like this which is purely for VISUAL satisfaction.

    Looks to me that the rip was too small for a 3 cd rip .
    So they re-encoded the first 80 min at a lower kbs to fit 2 cds.

Can you see what’s this Wikipedia statement is all about in this release that could lead you to think (“Are you able to think?” should be my 1st question by the way. No fucking way! Even DVDs don’t have enough definition to perfectly render those details. Wikipedia most probably talked about the making of the movie with computer generated images during the (post)production process, not the way it’ll look when encoding the DVD.     If you watch the last second on disk 2 after the credits, you see a blib of what looks like credits for the french actors who did the dub. This is certainly a watchable release but I look forward to a retail R1 release with an improved picture quality.

    @beber, sorry idiot! XviD was a parallel project at the Project Mayo site and I knew of it when DivX 3 got popular. If you take a div3 encoded video and try to play it with the latest XviD decoder it won’t work. So XviD is not based on DivX Networks’s work.

    Yes, it’s been released by mvs, but I’m no confident about its quality : 2h20, 3 audio tracks in Dolby 5.1 (most likely each at 448 kbps or if lucky only the english one at 448 kbps), english, french and spanish subtitles. All this in one layer (DVD5). If on top of that they kept menus and anti-piracy warnings, that’ll look like crap.

    but i managed to get both files on a regular old 4.7gb blank dvd -r.
    picture quality and audio quality is the same way it was before i burned it.

    btw….now matter how clear the picture quality is….it wont help the fact that transformers hwas made with shitty camera work.

    when u got alot of metal….fast movies scenes…and shitty/shaky camera work…….not even a blue ray version would help you.
    with that being said…..this copy is great enough.

    Forget aXXo’s release. It’s 900MB total. The video runs at 759 kbps and the sound is 112 kbps stero. Plus, he screwed up the video resolution – 664×268 instead of the correct 640×272. Pathetic job.
    Like I said before… 2hrs 20mns is the length of the flick; if you want AC-3 6-channel sound at 448 kbps AND you want good video, then you’ve not choice but 3-CD. The chances of a scene group doing that for us are close to zero. So your options are:
    - wait for a 4.4GB HD rip
    - wait for the DVD to release and encode it yourself to whatever settings you prefer.

    To compare them… save the png’s, open them with an image viewer that supports multiple instances. I used Windows Picture and Fax Viewer by opening one image, pressing of the print button and opening another image… this way it will open a second instance of itself.

    Results:
    1. FLAiTE: image quality is good (the best out of all of them), the sound quality is… original
    2. NhaNc3: image quality is good, the sound quality is the good too, but needs more software support and without the right one the results may be different
    3. leetay: image quality is fair, sound also
    4. aXXo: image quality is low, to blurry, and the sound quality is low too

    Notes:
    1. To get a better upsampling, use MPC and at the Output section in the Options windows select WMR9 (renderless) if you have a DirectX 9 capable gfx card and select the “Resizer” to Bicubic A = -0.75 (you might want to try out the other options too).
    2. To get rid of the block / times / pixelations, use either:
    - FFDShow and play with the options
    - XviD direct show codec and at its properties page select at Postprocessing the Deblocking check boxes
    - DivX 6, select from the system tray the settings page and set postprocessing to custom… then move the Deblocking slider to maximum

    The thing is, you can’t rewrite history, and so, historical facts can’t be changed. Time travel remains impossible in real life. It’s still only a science-fiction subject.
    Those are the ones who invented it. Those French film makers are the ones who influenced and inspired these others film makers and no-one can change it. Even Spielberg is a huge fan of François Truffaut (gave him a role in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and gave a role to Nathalie Baye, one of Truffaut’s actress and one of the best ones ever, in “Catch me if you can”) and so was influenced and inspired by him.     Great movie, and thanks for keeping this site alive.. Its freaking awesome! Got a question, on most DVD RIPS I download, the quality looks better on my standard TV than it does on my 42″ LCD HDTV when connecting through a DVD player. I use HDMI cables for my DVD-HDTV and component cables for my DVD-SDTV, I am pretty much forced to watch the movie on my laptop using a DVI/HDMI cable to my HDTV, which is by far the best picture of the 3 methods, but I dont like hooking my laptop up just to watch a movie everytime. Any information on this would be great.

    Video wise from the sample, HB’s release is not a big improvement over FLAiTE’s… while the resolution is bigger at 720×304, fl being at 640×272, when stretched the edges of the shapes are a bit blurry.

    Audio wise… I found a problem… the sound is to low. Anyway, with AC3Filter I applied a gain, actually the maximum gain possible and it was alright after that.

    Go with the FLAiTE’s version… it’s still the best at the moment.

    dl the sample and see that it’s almost the same picture quality as FLAiTE’s… bigger resolution but a bit blurred!

    I was looking and I then I saw this. The screencaps looks decent, like you’d expect from a proper DVDRIP.

    Transformers.2007.DVDRip.XviD-UnSeeN – on TPB right now. Yet to be confirmed whether it’s a go or not though.

    downloaded the UnSeeN rip from RS, burned it with Nero on DVD-RW disc then watched on a standalone dvd/divx player…
