TRADINGSTANDARDS: Epic Fail

First of all, let me establish one thing. I appreciate the work that all scene groups do. Even the groups that are less experienced than others; even those that get every second release nuked. If a group does their best to adhere to scene rules and keeps putting out releases, then to me they deserve respect, whether they get nuked or not. Its when a group knowingly breaks a major scene rule and still puts out the release that a line has to be drawn. Of course many groups these days are suspected of doing this, but some just don’t cover their tracks too well.

Its the case of TRADINGSTANDARDS vs. PLUBE. Plube? Is that a scene group? No. Its a one time p2p release “group” made up of one person. This person also happens to be the Admin of Plube.com and one of my moderators on the RLSLOG Forums. About two days ago, he made a DVDRip of a film called Mutant Chronicles, which had been anticipated by some people on our forums. Proof to this can be found HERE. The source was a DVDR from a torrent tracker (Mutant Chronicles 2008 Pal DVDRo-BcF). Then today, TRADINGSTANDARD happened.

They pred “their” release of the exact same film earlier this morning (Central European Time). First reaction was naturally some suspicion, but nothing more. Then their rls got nuked for DUPE of plubes release, which was pretty funny. But then a closer look at the TRADINGSTANDARDS rls gave the greatest laugh of all:

[click on image for full size in new tab]

Obviously, TRADINGSTANDARDS didn’t even bother to cover the most simple of tracks.

I’m sure a lot of you will say, “who cares, we’re all stealing anyways”, but those who say that don’t truly have an idea of the effort and risk many scene groups go through to put out releases (even though they’re not meant for you). Groups like TRADINGSTANDARDS make a mockery of that effort.

RLSLOG don’t like Tradingstandards, Tradingstandards are bad, bad people, we get it.

So the question remains: Why keep posting Tradingstandards releases? surely the best way to hurt them is to not publicise “their” releases at all.

I think that I speak for the majority of visitors to rlslog. Really, we don’t care who rips the stuff. As mentioned before, most of the scene groups do it for other sceners and not for us mere mortals. We’re happy to get anything so long as its quality.

We all benefit from scene releases, but, only some of us appreciate the beauty of the race, the thrill to get the PROPER. Every scene groups knows that, and that is why they do it. They are the elite, but to be elite you have to stick to the scene rules. There’s no coming back from RippingStandars.

Why doesn’t this site get off its high horse. I used to be a daily visitor to this site. But within the last 3 months the editorials have gotten preachy, the ads are horribly annoying even more so than before, there’s alot of bad mouthing by the people we are trusting to be impartial and help represent the scene, and it is slow. I have 3 other sites that have “official releases” listed an hour or more before this site. And now you are “calling out” a group for stealing from one person. I don’t care! Lots of your readers don’t care! Leave it in the FORUMS. If this is just going to be a site for personal attacks laced between horrible releases it will not be missed.

(even though they’re not meant for you)”

Hmmm… Excuse me, who are they meant to then? For the
archival purposes of someone who worries that these epic
masterpieces get lost in the mist of time? A videolibrarian
that has an immense collection of movies to keep for the
    enlightenment of future generations?

    No.

This is all for bragging rights people, to show who has
    the biggest “e-straw”.

And scene rules suck hard and deep with all the sanctimonious

I will admit I don’t care about every post that shows up here but I just move on, the people that get their info about scene rls here should not come on bashing the mods/admin of this site period. Everyone here from Mods to Admin you have my up-most RESPECT good job keep them coming. Ignore all the idiots

  69. Bumfluff
    July 11th, 2008 | 16:57

rlslog isnt connected to the scene, they whore off its back like any p2p release group. Not that theres anything wrong with that but why pretend to be ’scene’ only? Why advertise the source thiefs at the expense of the original rippers?

Why dont you do your own thing and promote quality rather than ’scene’ releases only since you are not ’scene’. Its pathetic boys, youve merely created abstract rules to restrict yourselves within and pretend to be scenesters. If you post non-scene do you get rapped or nuked? No you dont, so stop being scene-ass-lickers and fulfill your potential.

Find the best releases all over the nets, promote x264 and original anamorphic encodes whether scene or not. At least dont promote a stolen dupe just cause it was officially pred while the original wasnt. Wheres your honour?

If releases are only for the scene then who is classified as scene? and if it was so important to stop leakage just take the leakers out of the group. If I am a member of a private Torrent site am I scene or a BT Junkie with no idea, or is it some private FTP or IRC network?

  73. PrS!
    July 11th, 2008 | 17:05

People shouldn’t hate on the scene rules.

Yea it is a bit foolish to ‘nuke’ a release because of a misspelled name or inappropriate archive structure…
But if it wasn’t for these rules we would end with a lot of garbage amateur releases with all sorts of sizes, formats, etc..typically found on p2p (no offense).

A standard and routine needs to be made and polished for something to continue it’s success. Life’s much easier when you follow guidelines or in this case “rules”.

Oh wait, they do the leaks deliberately and them pretend they knew nothing about the leaks. Jesus Christ on a bike, the majority of us don’t give a f**k about Sceners. we just want a constant supply of new releases and so far the scene is doing that. other than that they’re not worth a w**k or a minute of my time.

    ReeGed….

see what i don’t get is that if scene releases are for sceners only why make a website that informs the general public of said releases and is a forum for torrent links and direct download of scene releases.

If you think that scene releases are for scene only then you should have no part of this website and the way people find out if something been released is in a pre channel.

I think the thing to remember is that 90% of people downloading things are people who either can’t afford/don’t want to spend the money on the things they are downloading. They’re not interested with the ins and outs of how it all works, who’s involved in a nuke war, who’s nuked this or stolen that- as long as they get what they’re after, that’s all they care about. To be honest, I prefer those people to the ones who constantly complain about the stuff they’re not paying for, or whining that it’s not out quickly enough, or whatever.

Issues like this only matter to people within the scene, and people who know nothing but think they do because they read up about stuff like this.

I wanted to chime in about RLSLOG’s place:

I appreciate what they do with regard to R5s, DVDrips and apps and such, but I hate when they post cams and TS’s. I agree with a previous poster who said that RLSLOG should promote the best of the web and no junk. Who cares about scene? It should be “RLSLOG: The best of the Web.”

Don’t be so stupid, you steal movies, I steal movies. So nobody cares if some rips a ripped movie and releases it, the more rips the better

Think about it people, the people at Trading Standards are doing this on purpose. I’ll bet ya a million bucks. Look at all the attention they are getting from it. Nobody could be that dumb, they knew what they were doing when they posted it. Some people crave attention whether it be good or bad. Just something to think about. Lastly, I would like to say Thank you to all the people at Rlslog for all of your hard work. Don’t sweat these guys, they are just trying to get under your skin. Keep up the good work.
