Toshiba recalls more explosive batteries

If you own a Toshiba laptop with Sony batteries and this machine has symptoms of overheating, you should probably do something about it. Toshiba Corp. has recalled more defective laptop batteries, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said last week, the latest move in a long-running problem with lithium-ion batteries made by Sony Corp. According to a warning from the CPSC, batteries in some of Toshiba’s Satellite A100, Satellite A105 and Tecra A7 notebooks built between January and April 2006 pose a fire hazard from overheating. Approximately 1,400 portable computers are affected by the recall, said the CPSC.

better change than sorry :)

The batteries due for call back are a subset of a recall issued by Toshiba less than four weeks ago that wasn’t publicized by the CSPC. Then, the Japanese computer maker listed 17 different laptop lines as potentially equipped with defective batteries. An update to the Toshiba support document a day after the initial July 17 alert added the three systems called out by the CPSC last Thursday. The agency gave no explanation for the weeks-long delay between Toshiba’s admission and the CPSC recall warning. “Consumers should stop using the recalled batteries and contact Toshiba to receive a free replacement battery,” the agency urged. Toshiba has posted a Windows utility that sniffs out recalled batteries; it can be downloaded from the BatteryCheck link.

That’s why Dell and Toshiba suck for laptops. HP is better.

Blobsters…There’s no other way to say it. You’re an idiot.

Lenovo/IBM, Dell, Toshiba, HP/Compaq, etc all use batteries that were recalled. (HP issued as recall last year).

    Here you go jackass.

By your way of defining “suck” for a notebook brand, that means they ALL suck. LOL!

Every time I hear about exploding laptop batteries, Sony’s name is on it. Why do these OEM companies keep going to them for their batteries?!

    @ tumbler2

Must you be such and incompetent twit? I was referring to the laptop brands, not just the laptop batteries they choose to use. It isn’t HP’s fault that Sony is crap. If they made their own battery it would be UN-fucking-STOPPABLE! SO…for your future knowledge…never respond to my messages unless your prepared to be pwned.

    Dear Blobsters
Re your comments: if it looks like a stupid remark and it can’t be misread it probably is a stupid remark – I ubderstand your loyalty to HP but you certainly implied that the REASON all the others suck was because of their choice of batteries (which as correctly observed by others) is shared by HP.
Feel free to nuke me, ‘we’ are right and you’re an a*******e

Well, probably being the only person here with expierence on about 13,000 HP laptops, no sorry moron, HP are fucking crap and it has nothing to do with the battery.

But I’m sure your experience watching porn on your 1 laptop says otherwise.

I own 2 dells, 1 toshiba, and 2 HPs, they ALL SUCK.

Luckily none of my batteries are recalled.
