TorrentLeech temporarily offline

Many of you have been wondering what has happened to TorrentLeech, one of the biggest private trackers of the world. Their website is offline since the morning and there haven’t been any announcements or notices about this downtime. The reason for this temporary unavailability of their website is a server upgrade, according to the official IRC channel. Active users of Torrentleech could notice a little slowdown after the Dutch hosting provider Leaseweb kicked them out and the whole tracker had to find a new home - an unknown hosting in Malaysia, a much more secure offshore location.

UPDATE: I talked with one of the Torrentleech’s administrators and he confirmed it’s just a server upgrade, no legal issues or similar problems. The staff is just adding more horsepower for a comfortable usability of thousands of Torrentleech users. The site should be relaunched within few hours.

    they said today / in few hours. from my experience that’s something you can’t really determine as it usually depends on the technicians from the hosting company.

    Actually, there has been an announcement about this. They even said that they’ll be changing datacenter. They just didn’t say when.

    its not that hard to get an invt to a site abcd, just go in a lvl 1 pvt tracker, like midnight-torrents, or arenabg or something….work up a decent ratio, and go in an irc channel of a lvl 2 and show them your ratio and speedtest or something, and ur usually in.

    I am from malaysia. I think is pretty safe there because according to the law of malaysia and the government only catch and fined ppl who download instead of uploading.

    thanks for the information Martin, I also didn’t know why they weren’t online the whole day. I think the only thing I wanted to down is the Good Luck Chuck movie. but I can wait a few hours for that. Uploading full speed though… thanks again and wishing everybody a Happy New Year…

    Even though I have 2 invitations left, they are useless unless TL decides to allow invitations again. With them having downtime already, this could be the perfect time to prune some inactive accts and reopen invites for a bit.

    Part of the reason TL invites are hard to come by, is that if you get banned, so can the person who invited you… Therefore TL members have to be pretty sure that whomever they invite will “do the right thing”.

    Obviously while invitations are closed the point is moot anyway…

    in Malaysia? r u sure? im from malaysia and i know much about malaysian hosting providers… most of them sux greatly… lol.. not even a single mp3 are allowed to be hosted or even any other copyrighted content… and they also kinda limit max con per server.. this is experienced by our local torrent site scene when they r looking for hostings, thats why they prefer to get hostings outside of malaysia… and that is also why im totally confused why TL wanna be host from a company here… lol..

    btw, among the best offshore services here are exabytes.com.my and also shinjiru.com.my :P

    TL is a great site - variety, great download speeds. It doesn’t have everything (like Demonoid did) but it beats every other torrent site I belong to. Disksharing sites are a nice the small apps and ebooks, the newsgroups are terrific for movies, audiobooks, and music. But where you gonna go for the latest and greatest - thats right, torrent sites like TL!

Yes, we’re all missing Demonoid and that fact really sucks :-( And some of us also missing ScT or TL - cause they cant be the part of this pretty community since this trackers are invite only. I’m also missing TL and ScT - I have a 10Mbit upload line - so, this ISNT smth impossible to me in sharing and uploading))

    Torrentleech is nice for the speed yes but most people leech and get on their way i.e. me for example stick to public sites like newtorrents it works all the same but yea would be nice to get invite over there no need to lose sleep over it though.

    this smells like demonoid, same thing happened when they re-located then they got shut down!

    torrentleech let us down, they didn’t even give a proper heads up

    Cant stand these snotty private trackers and their ratio whore users with plenty bad attitude myself.

    Anyway, you dont get any faster downloads if the initial seeder has a slow connection. Let them burn.

    Due to a hardware failure, we had over 24h downtime. The problem has not yet fixed 100% and we managed to find a temporary solution. A small extra downtime should be expected tomorrow in order to solve this problem once and for all. Thank you for your patience.

    site is back on abackup server because we had an issue with the new hardware raid controller.site and tracker has a new IP for the day,so either flash your DNS or simple wait
