Description: Torchlight is an action role-playing-game for the PC made by the creators of Diablo, Fate, and the never-released Mythos among other games. Set in the mining town of Torchlight, players will adventure to uncover the mysteries of the Ember mines. It offers a fully featured character leveling system, randomized dungeons, hordes of monsters, and gobs of great loot. The adventure is set in the mining settlement of Torchlight, a boomtown founded on the discovery of rich veins of Ember – a rare and mysterious ore with the power to enchant or corrupt all that it contacts. This corruptive power may have dire consequences however, and players set out into the nearby mountains and depths below to discover the full extent of Ember’s influence on the civilizations that have come before.

Players will choose from among three character classes, and venture from the safety of the town of Torchlight into randomly generated dungeon levels, with a huge variety of creepy monsters, endless variations of loot to find, and quests to complete. The endless randomization ensures a long-lived gameplay experience.

Key Features:

  • Randomization – Our level layouts are randomly created, so each adventure is unique. Monsters, treasures, puzzles, and items are also different each time you embark on an adventure.
  • Easy, approachable interface – Torchlight is designed to be easy to play right from the beginning. The intuitive interface gives players easy access to a rich and varied world.
  • Retirement System – Once characters are sufficiently leveled up, they can “retire” and bestow specific benefits and perks to new characters.
  • Pets – Players will choose a pet to accompany them. Pets can level up along with the player, and will help in battle, carry items, and perform a variety of helpful services.
  • Character Classes – Players will create and customize a character and choose an animal companion. Through cosmetic choices, skill path decisions, and the treasures they acquire, each character will be custom-tailored and different.
  • Fishing – Players can take a break from the high-energy pace of adventuring to visit one of the fishing holes and relax and see what they can catch. Fish have interesting benefits for the player and pet, and other rewards can also be discovered
  • Editor – Runic Games is embracing our modding community by providing an editor so our players can create and design their own content.

    I just quit after three hours straight, saw your comment, loaded the game up and continued where I left off so saving is working fine and it doesn’t “time out after 2 hours”.

    This game is very good, it doesn’t have to be 2 DVD’s in size to entertain you. Games like this remind us all that the main purpose of them is to entertain you by triggering your fantasy.

    It’s a terrifically fun, polished game with random dungeons for replay value and and surprisingly decent graphics. Brings me back to my old addictive Diablo days :D If you’re a fan, don’t miss out on this gem!

    This game is so amazing I just bought it on Steam. They earned their $20.

    Anyway, they arent going to be building multiplayer into this. What they plan on doing is use sales of this to make a Free2Play Torchlight MMO in the future.

    Next week see’s the release of the game editor to make mods and maps and such.

    I don’t get the hype for this game as it is plain boring… Compared to what we had with diablo. I remember those 100 hours looking for an amulet of the Zodiac, but having Fate coming destroy the diablo effect is bad. No bosses like the butcher… Game to easy, too short, not dark enough, it looks like the game for children… WOW. I never liked Fate and never will, this is too much fate not enough diablo. With those stupid fishes you need to give a pet… please, really boring. it’s not because you have Strenght, DEX, Int and Vitality. With some skill system of Diablo 2 that it must automatically be a great game like Diablo, as it is really far to be as good. Especially with adaptive difficulty!

    Fail… skidrow writes “no protection” in thier nfo… course there isn’t… it’s a DEMO.
    Retail has one of 3 things: direct from developers has 10+ activation limit, retail disc which probably doesn’t exist yet is likely going to be securom disc check (from their forums) & Steam version uses Steam. $10 says 1st “crack” is the steam version of the exe…

    This does not have protection because this is the leaked PRESS RELEASE version. The Steam version (the real release) was released a few days later (27th) and had a number of bugs fixed since the press release. Expect a quick patch to version 1.1 anyway as these devs are on top of it and actually the 17 bucks this game costs.

    @blur: You can google to download daemon tool lite. It’s a program to mount the .bin file into a virtual CD/DVD Drive. After that, just run normally as you install game with a CD/DVD.

    Socrates:

    Use WinRAR to extract files in “parts” i.e. part1, part2 etc. WinRAR will extract all the files in order.

    The .bin file you get, you “mount” using Daemon Tools. Install the program and mount the .bin file. It’ll then appear as if you’re installing the game – install the game into a dir and then replace the crack per instructions in the forum/post.

    Hope you got it to work.
