Top Gun 1986 HDDVD VC1 720p 5.1 WMV-BamHD

You commenters seem to really like these old HDRiPS, so here is another one. And again it’s from a great movie; Top Gun this time. I don’t think this movie needs any intro or something: if you have any bandwith left, I’d grab it! :) (altough it’s VERY large: 8+ GB!)

Maverick is a hot pilot. When he encounters a pair of MiGs over the Persian Gulf, his wingman is clearly outflown and freaks. On almost no fuel, Maverick is able to talk him back down to the Carrier. When his wingman turns in his wings, Maverick is moved up in the standings and sent to the Top Gun Naval Flying School. There he fights the attitudes of the other pilots and an old story of his father’s death in combat that killed others due to his father’s error. Maverick struggles to be the best pilot, stepping on the toes of his other students and in a different way to Charlie, a civilian instructor to whom he is strongly attracted.

    Never heard of this VC1 codec, nor of WMA Pro 5.1… are they any good?

    Hey I want “Days of thunder” in HD ! Please :)

    Yeah, VC1 is the new standard for HDDVD’s (I think BluRay has finally started using it as they did not when BluRay was first released), and they look incredible. It’s unfortunate how big the files are, as unless you are a member of a private site, don’t waste your time, as 8 GB for a flick is crazy crazy off a public site. But man, I bet Top Gun is killer in HD!!

    Isn’t this a dupe?

    thuja: No, it is not a dupe since the WMV-HD scene (for XBOX360)is seperate from the HD-x264 scene, in rules and in dupes.

    They should stick to the proper HD releases (x264). And ff not, they should split up the HD cateogry.

    VLC works perfectly here.
    First it only played background music, no voices of the actors, but then… I
    Right clicked, chose audio device and played with the different options…. Voilá, it played really good.
    It´s a pitty I can´t watch such great realeases on my set DVD player, though!

    Hi guys, please help me sort this out! What are these hd rips for? I mean i unrar them and the make .mkv file? Read up on .mkv and cant really find an easy way of getting them on disk. Is there an easy way? or will i have to get an expensive graphics card to play from pc to hd tv? Any help appreciated, cheers, tr

    @torrentruler

    You don’t need to put them on disk to watch them, play them with a media player. And if you want to play them on your HDTV, then you have to play them through your PC anyway since converting them to DVD will downrez the video to only DVD quality.

    So just connect your PC to your HDTV and play with any media player.

    @lee welton

    Thanks so much for that comment, What a great idea. Im surprised I never thought of in essence making a laptop
    a hddvd/bluray player.
    One question – What cable should we use?

    Randomidea, if you graphic card has it, then the best is to use HDMI or at least DVI.

    My laptop unfortunately has only vga out, or s-video.
    Vga should transfer the hi-def video right? (I hope).
    Then to connect to the Samsung 42″ plasma I might hope to find a “vga in” or a dvi type, and get a vga–>dvi cable,
    oi, getting confused,

    AVOID this release. It’s a bad encode, there are frequent glitches / artefacts especially in high motion scenes, looks like individual frames that are pink or otherwise corrupt. Confirmed playing from DVDR on a 360 as well as on mplayer/linux. Waste of a DVD9!
