Top Gear S11E06 WS PDTV XviD-RiVER

Here is new version of this TV show released a few ago by RiVER. Enjoy this new episode!

Top Gear is the best car show in Britain and is currently presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, with special appearances from the tame racing driver, The Stig.
The boys talk about anything from new cars to their engines, but don’t be fooled, this is not another boring technical car programme. The boys have races and do crazy things with cars (anything from driving them into swimming pools to setting them on fire). Oh and there is always an earnest attempt to kill Richard Hammond every series…

  35. der
    July 28th, 2008 | 00:01

There are only 6 episodes in the average British TV series (not season). It keeps things fresh and many shows go on for 20+ years. That’s just the way we do things.

  36. Zed
    July 28th, 2008 | 00:01

So what actually happens in this episode?

  37. Matt in Chicago
    July 28th, 2008 | 00:12

  38. MelC
    July 28th, 2008 | 00:13

whilst der is right and 6 episodes is a typical uk series, most uk shows do not go on for 20+ years. With the exception of soaps (including the likes of taggart as well as coronation st) it’s virtually unheard of.

Most UK shows last a series or two – it’s the merkins who drag stuff on forever (simpsons is particularly bad; the sopranos dragged on 2 series too long, etc).

locksniff: 22 episodes of high quality entertainment? lol. more like 8 episodes of hq entertainment, 4 OK episodes and then 10 filler eps.

One of the best US shows of last year was Breaking Bad, with 7 episodes.

With so much TV to watch, why on earth make one season/series last so long. It just gets boring.

  41. jonnyBoy
    July 28th, 2008 | 00:21

Bleh at the short season… still a good show.

  42. buxton
    July 28th, 2008 | 00:22

@ locksniff, think carefully about the target audience here. It’s a BRITISH motoring show, for a BRITISH audience, estimated at an audience of..well, the population of BRITAIN.

What’s the size of America again? How many people LIVE in america? Surely you’re comparing apples to an (over-sized) orange.

Olympics are the reason for the shorter than usual series of Top Gear. US and Australian versions will have to fill the void in the coming months, but the UK series will always be best.

American cable networks are also making 13, 1xHour Episodes these days, only network TV pumps out 22 episodes, which could explain the amount of crap they offer.

    I’ll give you two:

    Arrested Development

Granted.. 99% of American TV is crap, but I think that goes for most every country. I couldn’t sit through a single episode of “Torchwood”..

  55. jonnyBoy
    July 28th, 2008 | 02:41

    @59, jeff-

    What about House?
‘Tis a good show- I like it ;)
    ——–
or COPS? That’s been on for a long time, it’s kind of got an agenda, but people still like it… maybe it’s the fact that you can always see something new in an episode.
    ——–
I still think South Park is the best non-network comedy.

  56. sim888
    July 28th, 2008 | 03:03

Agreed, on average i personally find UK tv better than US tv..especially when it comes to comedy. It’s all personal taste though.
Will be interesting to see the US and OZ versions of Top Gear. I doubt either will be as good as the UK, I think the US will be entertaining, and the Ozzie one will feel a bit ‘cheap’. I can’t see us getting the big name cars, and i can almost guarantee the budget will pale to that of the UK / US versions, hence the ‘cheap’ feel – we won’t be going to the North Pole, Africa etc!

@40 – The Wire is a great example of well put together US show, and, the seasons weren’t the ‘full’ 22 eps like other show’s. Nip/Tuck is great, but you have watch it from the start to ‘get it’.

enough typing from me.. thanks for the heads up on EP06 R.Log, and thanks for the RS links guys!

This episodes summary for you guys:

Richard Hammond Reviews the Gumpert Apollo
I won’t spoil it, but it ranks very high up on the timed lap wall.

Jay Kay returns as the star in a reasonably priced car.
Also won’t spoil it, but he ranks very high.

Germans and the Brits go at it in a competition including: double decker racing, an obstacle course, a in Mini Coopers, and a race pitting a Porche touring car, and a Vantage touring car.

12 episodes a year at 1 hour each (NO COMMERCIAL BREAKS!!!)

Compare that to American shows that run for say 13-22 episodes at 40mins each (with commercial breaks taken out) which is equivalent to between 9hrs and 14hrs of actual wacthable content.

Doesnt sound so bad when you do the maths, does it.

Most of the best American TV and Movies are made by (directed) or star Brits.

House is a prime example as the main star is British and The Dark Knight was a British director ;-)

Behind every great American theres usually a Brit in control.
