Jimbo- I’m over it.

So I watched some Final gear. I thought it was alright. Actually a nice change after seeing so much of TG. But they seem to be filling the same niche. They did manage to get a guy with sillier hair than May and Hammond combined, which was an accomplishment, although I agreed with his opinions. I’m surprised those two shows are both able to co-exist for so long. Obviously due to the strong “petrol-head” population.

Top Gear is really good at what it does and it’s fun, but even the people I see in their crowd certainly tinker with their cars, don’t they? I still contend there’s room for a show that gets a bit more into cars’ modding potential without assuming everybody has a complete full service shop in their garage. I mean I changed out a fuel pump last weekend and am considering a better cold air intake but I’m not going to be able to change out my rear end or do frame off restorations. The american “power block” shows all go way too far in that direction. I’m curious to see how badly the US Top Gear screws up. I can’t imagine Top Gear with car company sponsorship. How will that work?

rrpostal, first of all, I have to say:

In priciple I agree with most of what you said, and then… I wake up into a world of reality… — meaning – 1st of all you’ve got that show you’re talking about … it’s called Fifth Gear…!!! – hello haven’t you heared of it?! – the old guy was once the host of TG but when they went on the direction of making excellent T.V. viewing with less geek talk but still with geeks! and more funny… interesting tests which are unconventional … (who cares how good is the new Toyota Corrola or Camry?! but how do they add up against they rival in a lets say falling of an airplain and crashing on the ground… and then testing which one is better is much more interesting than just testing cars again and again and again in the same way… – thats T.V.

All thar said and done.

TopGear is Probably the best show on T.V. worldwide..:)
