Top 10 Movie Releases of 2007

The last few days have been somehow lazy in terms of new movie releases with few exceptions so I decided to compile this “Best Of” post. The list below summarizes Top 10 Movie Releases of 2007. Of course we are talking only about scene releases. You should be really sure you watched all of those movies, because they are simply worth your time. I have been choosing only from dvdrips of course (1012 dvdrip actually), because there’s no reason to provide you a crappy cam when you can watch the same film with a way better image and audio.

1. Transformers 2007 DVDRip XviD-FLAiTE

An eagerly awaited movie inspired by super popular comics hit the cinemas and became an instant hit. It was pretty much same with this release, which appeared unusually fast after the movie premiere. FLAiTE beated every other group by long weeks and they deserve to be at the first place in this chart.

2. The Bourne Ultimatum DVDRip XviD-MDP

Jason Bourne returned in the third part of this famous action thriller. The movie has a lot to offer, both critics and fans appreciated the real filming enfironment and original shaking action camera. This release from group MDP featured a really clear image and superb 5.1 channel audio.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End DVDRip XviD-SPiRAL

Captain Jack Sparrow, Black Pearl and another third sequel to one of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters. 168 minutes on 2 CDs could be an uneasily long footage for many movies, but Pirates of the Caribbean worked like a charm and once again pleased thousands of fans. This release was propered numerous times but these were mostly scene-related nukes not affecting the viewer’s experience.

4. Shrek The Third 2007 DVDRip XviD-FLAiTE

The fourth place also belongs to FLAiTE. They surprised everyone yet again by this super early dvdrip of Shrek the Third, which wasn’t certainly as good as the original but provided the audience with loads of giggles, beautiful animated graphic and all-star voice cast.

5. Ratatouille PROPER DVDRip XViD-MDP

If almost everyone knew that Shrek 3 will be pretty good, Ratatouille had to be a big surprise for everyone. Actually one of the best animated movies ever, created by noone else than Pixar Studio. The proper of SPiRAL’s first dvdrip was extremely popular and it’s no wonder with its astonishing image quality and crystal clear AC3 sound.

6. Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix 2007 DVDRip XviD-FLAiTE

Surprise, FLAiTE again! This time with a copy of newest Harry Potter – darker, more violent and certainly also more adult than the previous parts. The final battle scene had to put everyone on his knees, and it didn’t really matter if you read the book or not.

7. Knocked Up UNRATED DVDRip XviD-DiAMOND

It wouldn’t be fair to omit DiAMOND in this list – one of the most respected groups in the scene works many years as a provider of only the best movies. And comedy Knocked Up surely was one of the highlights in the 2007 comedies. Once again, we could enjoy a really fine image quality and 6 channel audio.

8. Live Free or Die Hard UNRATED DVDRip XviD-SAPHiRE

Many people thought Bruce Willis went nuts when he decided to film another Die Hard sequel but it worked. It actually worked pretty fine and there’s no other movie which could show you so massive explosions, neverending gunfights and the best CGI tricks of these days. Unrated version from group SAPHiRE featured a whole extra bunch of dirty talk together with flawless quality.

9. Stardust DVDRip XviD-DiAMOND

DiAMOND deserves at least one more position at the end of this TOP 10: their release of Stardust was one of the most downloaded releases in December and that’s even more surprising achievement considering it’s basically a modern fairy-tale. Classic high quality release from the group which doesn’t know the word “nuked”.

10. I Am Legend REPACK DVDSCR XviD-iMBT

And finally a rather new release: dvd screener of I Am Legend. This movie doesn’t deserve its position by story qualities or an outstanding acting (although it was pretty good), but rather by a super early leak of the dvd screener, which resulted into numerous copies flowing on the internet till this very day.

Okay Martin, you’re entitled to your own opinions and perspective and all, but I find your comments regarding Ratatouille absolutely dumbfounding.

Ratatouille is from Pixar, a studio whose films have averaged ~94% on RottenTomatoes (and it would be 97%, if it weren’t for Cars getting a mediocre score of 76%). Pixar is widely considered to be one of the most consistently high-quality creative companies in the world, and seriously, practically everything they touch turns to gold. I highly, highly doubt that many people were surprised by Ratatouille’s superior quality as an animated film. It most certainly was not “a big surprise for everyone.”

Shrek the Third, on the other hand, is generally seen as a shark-jumping, needless sequel, with a low 42% on RottenTomatoes.

Replace the R+ rated Knocked Up with some kind of a PG-13 title… Enchanted, let’s say… and you’ll get the exact copy of my 13-year-old nephew’s perspective on what the top 10 movies of 2007 would be. It’s true, so, no offense…

Transformers had Megan Fox. She deserves an Oscar for looking so damn hot.

w00t The Bourne Ultimatum is, IMO, the best movie of 2007 easily. All the action, how it completed the trilogy so well, the drama between Landy and Vosen… You dont really see any movies where fully trained assassins go after each other and dont use some crazy James Bond gadgets that we know are crap. Realistic, great storyline, Bourne FTW :D

LOL someone said Death Sentence was best movie of 2007. I put it as my worst movie of 2007. Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead is the best movie of 2007.

  42. Jon
    January 5th, 2008 | 21:03

I don’t agree with the Pirates movie. The 2nd and 3rd were clearly horrible movies and just a cash pot for Disney.

The rest were all good movies. I recommend Stardust to everyone. It might have been fairy tale like but the acting was good as were the special effects. Overall it was an entertaining movie for 2007.

in terms of quality, spiderman 3 was the best.
The worst film there has to be shrek 3, pirates 3 and harry potter, even spiderman 3 wasn’t great but it was better than those 3.

Knocked up was plain stupid, just a copy of various film we seen before and still people seem to love it ? even superbad was just as good.

Warners goes blu ray and I AM LEGEND will be coming to blu ray, YES WOOT: http://youtube.com/watch?v=z3yAbAo6dVg

very nice post, i have to tell that i agree with the most of the movies. but I would surely take out Shrek. and put superbad in the list… plus some other small changes. 2007 was a good year… im curious about the oscars !!!

My List in no real particular order other than Country is defiantly my pick for top movie in 2007.

    No Country For Old Men
    Bourne Ultimatum
    Noise
    28 Weeks Later
    Death at a Funeral
    Ratatouille
    I am Legend
    Transformers
    Death Proof
    Charlie Wilsons War

I am surprised no one mention 28 Weeks Later but I guess it’s all about taste.

  56. Jay

Nice post, although I have to disagree with all the teenager-blockbusters in your list. But I’m from Europe and 29 :) Your site is still my favorite to find quality releases, keep up the good work!

interesting list, its probably closer to my worsed 10 films.

    this is my top ten.

    no country for old men
    Atonement
    control
    american gangster
    3:10 to yuma
    this is england
    eastern promises
    The Bourne Ultimatum
    superbad
before the devil knows your dead

  62. conan
    January 5th, 2008 | 23:35

Transformers is a horrible movie. A piece of trash.

  63. B
    January 5th, 2008 | 23:52

I agree with most of the list and i do accept it as top 10 for 2007
If I had compiled the list then surely harry potter and shrek 3 would not be there. reason for that are my children who watched Ratatouille multiple times, but left while watching shrek 3

AS for people arguing about Knocked up and/or super bad then there is a simple solution if u are 15 to 25 yrs old single, then super bad is better film or u. if u are 30 or above or have a family then chances are u liked knocked up more than super bad.

for people who do object at Transformers being at No 1, if they have an alternative title in mind.

I would just say that movies are about having fun and entertainment, each person has its own definition of it. it will be better if ppl put their own lists forward instead of criticizing others.

  64. Oren
    January 6th, 2008 | 00:05

if i understand it correctly – this list is about QUALITY RELEASES,
    NOT quality MOVIES.
in that case, everyone’s personal opinions about films’ quality is moot. we should be talking about quality audio/video, time-to-market and the such.
    Transformers, FLAiTE – #1?
this release had AWFUL video!!! so much, that i had to d/l a non scene release to watch it. it was REALLY BLURRY!
    Bourne was FANTASTIC
    so was Ratatuille.

  65. Oren
    January 6th, 2008 | 00:12

oh, and American Gangster “DVDSCR” had HORRID Video. the Dynamic Range was less than 50%! that made the picture EXTREMELY dark, and basically means that about 50% of the color and brightness range was missing.
DVDSCR my ass. at best, it was a bad analog capture of a VHS source.
even after passing the entire 2cd film thru a Contrast and Levels filter (having a Quad Core is nice!) it looked so bad i decided to delete it.
it’s not “just a bit dark, turn the brightness up and it will be fine” , half the color range is MISSING.

  66. Oren
    January 6th, 2008 | 00:15

also, 300 Neptune “DVDSCR” – Blurry as hell. VHS source FOR SURE. it was released very fast, i’ll give you that.
but as far as quality is concerned – i waited to see this movie as a REAL DVD RIP, surely it deserved at least that?

  67. Mr.Monocle the Chimp
    January 6th, 2008 | 00:27

Oren are you smoking crack? American Gangster looked fine on my 22in w. All the colours were fine, I use digital vibrance at 10%.

    @henderson:
Hi, I’m a film student. I’ve seen damn near every kind of film on the planet, I’d say.

No matter how deep it’s fans try and make it out to be, SAW is nothing but shallow, worthless cinematic filth. You’re just applying depth and aesthetics to a film where there simply is none, and no matter what I do, you’ll always think this, because you’re a SAW fan, and SAW fans are just like that, I guess.

  69. BlueBow
    January 6th, 2008 | 03:58

    1. Didn’t see it.
    2. Didn’t see it.
    3. Saw it in the theater, good, but a little too long for my tastes.
    4. A guy made me and my friend watch it with him. It was kind of funny.
    5. Didn’t see it.
    6. Saw it in the theater, I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I really liked it.
    7. Downloaded it, thought it was pretty funny.
    8. Didn’t see it.
    9. Downloading right now! ;)
    10. Downloaded it, didn’t like the ending.

    So:

    Downloaded: 30%
    Theater: 20%
    Ignored: 40%
    Other: 10%

I’ve no complains about your list, as my favorite movies of the year aren’t liable to end up on many other lists, I think. It’s a big subjective thing.

  70. leishman161
    January 6th, 2008 | 08:03

    Downloaded: 100 %
    Theater: 80 %
    Ignored: 10 %

You can please some people some of the time but never everybody all of the time. Good list but my favorite movie this year was 3 10 to Yuma.
