Tom Petty – Highway Companion (Special Edition) (2007)

Group EON brings us a new rock album “Highway Companion” from Tom Petty.  Tom Petty is famous for his classical style rock, i haven’t listened to any of his any music so i wouldn’t really know but for those who do you lot may like this album. The album dropped last year roughly the same time as now but with this release it has a few additional tracks (special edition) so for those special fans, here’s your chance to get the additional tracks!

Highway Companion is the third solo album by American musician Tom Petty, first released in late July 2006 (see 2006 in music), and charting at #4 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album was produced by former Traveling Wilburys bandmate Jeff Lynne, who also produced Petty’s highly-acclaimed first solo album, Full Moon Fever. Petty released the album through Rick Rubin’s American Recordings label and Warner Bros. Records, where Petty has had a record contract since his second solo album, Wildflowers (which was produced by Rubin). The tracks “Saving Grace” and “Big Weekend” were released 4 July 2006 on the iTunes Music Store.

A streaming version of the album was available on numerous websites before its release. The iTunes release of the album contained extras: a live version of “Saving Grace”, the video for “Saving Grace” and an interactive media booklet.

Highlights of COMPANION include the hard-edged “Saving  Grace,” the gentle “Square One,” and the twangy “Big Weekend,” which wonderfully showcase the rock, folk, and alt-country sides of this dynamic artist, respectively. As on past joint projects, Lynne’s more ornate inclinations are perfectly tempered by Petty’s no-frills approach, allowing the latter’s distinctively plaintive vocals to rise over the surprisingly straightforward arrangements. Arguably Petty’s best album since ’94’s revered WILDFLOWERS, HIGHWAY COMPANION is an assured set of songs by one of America’s finest rock artists.

Well I have only one of his albums and its from the 80’s, I will try this. My favorite song from the album is the one about the dead party girl? walks down to the ocean and releases her body. Something like that.

Why does this album have such a low rating and cRap artists get 4 stars? Are you guys on a combination of crack and weed?

Saving Grace is actually a pretty cool song, even though the intro sounds like an exact ripoff of a ZZ Top song
