Timbaland-Presents Shock Value-2007-SAW

This is a little older album but I somehow managed to miss it in the waves of these new movies, so I’m covering it now because I think this one deserves some attention. I’m not much into hip hop, but Timbaland – Presents Shock Value from fairly unknown producer Timbaland represents a small exception in this rule. Although he released few albums already, he mainly cooperated with some other more popular R&B and hip hop artists. Shock Value comes as a big surprise for me, because it offers slightly different style of music than we are used to and it’s not bad at all. I’m pretty sure you already heard single Give It To Me with Nelly Furtado…

producer/artist Timbaland has lined up an array of superstar guests for his new album, “Shock Value.” Due March 27 via Mosley Music Group/Blackground/Interscope, the project will be introduced later this week by first single “Give It to Me,” featuring Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. The album is said to be “sequenced like a movie” and encompasses a wide range of genres. “He ventures into the alternative world and the real pop world,” Timbaland right-hand-man Nate “Danja” Hills previously told Billboard.com. “He has so many different sounds from hip-hop, to pop, to rock on this album. And he pulls every single one of them off perfectly.

Beyond Furtado and Timberlake, guests on “Shock Value” include Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, the Hives, Elton John, Fall Out Boy, M.I.A, She Wants Revenge and Kerri Hilson, who is signed to Mosley Music Group.Timbaland has not released an album under his own name since 2003’s “Under Construction II,” a collaboration with longtime partner Magoo. He is presently on tour with Timberlake and debuting snippets from “Shock Value” during his mini-set each night.

Timothy Z. Mosley (born March 10, 1971), better known as Timbaland, is an American musical composer and R&B record producer and rapper whose style influenced both genres even helping to blur the distinction between R&B and hip-hop, as well as pop and dance music. With partner Magoo, he is a member of hip-hop group Timbaland & Magoo.

OK…Timabland didnt make many solo albums, but he produced almost every hip hop album that ever went platinum – hes a prudocer, not an artist!
i like his album even though he does steal a lot. have to think about that one because he makes good music but the whole stealing thing pisses me off…(does that mean if i download/steal this album, its ok because all the tracks are stolen anyways?)

  11. April 10th, 2007 | 18:50

Timbaland, music from thieves to “thieves”…
This one actually DESERVES to be shared on the net for free… I just hate plagiarism, it’s wrong period! I mean come on… if ya can’t make your own goddamn tunes, do something else like mop the floors or something, jeez!

Jesus a lot of you don’t even know the full story behind the Nelly “Do It” thing and because there was a cock up in the recording labels sample clearance sector, Timbaland is now a theif. Go learn the whole story and how samples get cleared in the professional world before being narrow minded enough to make your own judgement. There are hundreds of unreleased tracks that Timbaland won’t let anyone hear because he’s used samples which could not be cleared, he doesn’t want to steal music.

However, about this album, it’s definately the best album of the year so far. He’s a pioneer in his music, and it is evident in this album. Fav tracks are Come Around, Way I Are, Bounce, Oh Timbaland, Kill Yourself, Boardmeeting, Miscommunication, Time, Apologize & One and Only. I own the retail copy of this album.

    1st, He is a producer
2nd, If he was “fairly unknown” he couldn’t make half a million for his beats
3rd, “Although he released few albums already”
No, This is his first album

First off… I agree with you all on the “fairly unknown producer” thing. This guy has produced some of the best tracks out over the years.

Ever think about how using samples of old tracks actually kinda resurrects the original songs? I mean, most of the younger generation couldn’t tell you anything about the original, and may go have a listen to it (better yet buy the album) … People have been sampling for years. It will never stop. I guess we have to look @ the upside of it all. It’s paying homage to the original artists and their once daily listend to song is again listened to daily, just in a new context.

that’s just my two cents on this whole thing.

    “from fairly unknown producer Timbaland”

Timbaland has been considered similar to producers such as Brian Eno, Phil Spector or Norman Whitfield in that he helped to redefine the sound of an entire genre of music with an immediately recognizable production style.[1][2] The songs he produces feature unusual arrangements, sounds, and instrumentation, tied together by a trademark sense of space and rhythm. Like Spector and Whitfield, Timbaland’s production sometimes overshadows the credited performer and becomes the actual “star” of the song. With songwriters Steve “Static” Garrett and childhood friend Missy Elliott, Timbaland has helped to create some of the most successful songs in modern pop music and urban music, including singles for Elliott, Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Ludacris, Nelly Furtado and The Pussycat Dolls.

I admit to being happily naive as to what you kids listen to these days. I prfere musical instruments when listening to music. Singers should be just called singers although I do realize there is a lot of digital tinkering involved in this new stuff, I fail to see the music. I assume this guy is like a Rick Rubin type producer. I always check his stuff out when I see it. But whatever, I’m old and happily “out of the loop”.

My question is: did this guy actually name himself by mispelling a shoe brand? Honestly I don’t know if that’s the point here. Why is this cool? Or if I ask why am I already uncool?

Timbaland is a thief. You people defending him are funny. “He’s paying homage!” Like rap fans ever heard the original chiptune and would recognize it as an homage.

If it was something as simple as a screw-up with the legal department that should have cleared the sample, the chiptune composer wouldn’t have to be raising money for a lawsuit. Fucking morons.

Hopefully no one buys anything from this stealing piece of shit. It’s not about sampling, his money or any other unimportant detail; it’s about stealing the whole song from demoscene which didn’t make any money of it.

He was named by Jodeci of the DeVante Swing while he was learning how to produce and find his signature sound. Although he goes by an array of names like Timbo and Mr Mosely, Timbaland is still his predominant alias.

lol @ all these haters who just want any excuse to bring hate on the rap/urban community. I got plenty of things I can say but I won’t stoop to their level :D .

man people are still on that “stealing” one track on one album even though he has made countless tracks….

overall the album is pretty decent what i would sorta expect from timbaland.

but the whole demoscene thing it was an uncleared sample no matter how much of the loop he used it is still a sample and he MTV and Interscope never cleared it it has happened to people before nothing new.
