Guys from DoNE released another sweet dvdrip: This is England! The poster of this movie characterizes it quite well: this is mainly about football, racism, hooligans. Although it doesn’t have to suit the taste of everyone, this drama offers a fairly touching (but not that realistic) story which was appreciated by reviewers as well. The release comes with English subtitles on 1 CD in usual quality.
Roland Rat, Margaret Thatcher; Rubik’s Cubes, the Royal Wedding; aerobics, skinheads… It’s 1983, and the schools are breaking up for summer. Shaun is 12 and a bit of a loner, growing up with his mum in a grim coastal town, his dad killed fighting in the Falklands War. On his way home from school where he’s been tormented all day for wearing flares, he runs into a group of skinheads, who against expectations turn out to be friendly and take him under their wing. Soon Shaun discovers parties, girls and snappy dressing, and finds some role models in Woody, Milky and the rest of the gang.
But when an older, overtly racist skinhead returns home from prison, the easy camaraderie of the group is broken, and Shaun is drawn into much more uncomfortable territory. Based largely on his own experience as a youngster, this is Shane Meadows’ most mature and fully realised film. Handling the complexities of masculinity, violence and race with sensitivity and a lightness of touch, it’s hard to imagine a film that would better capture the mood of the time, or that could have any greater an understanding of the allure of being part of a gang.

Amazing film with a quality plot and soundtrack. And it was filmed about 10 miles from where I live! Definitely recommend this film.

@3 - This was filmed in Grimsby in Lincolnshire. The kid they got to play Shaun is just a local lad and isn’t an actor.
@16 This film is based around the life of the writer and growing up in 80s UK - it doens’t spread a positive message about rascism, it just shows that the skinheads from the 80s were split into two groups - those who were the racists and those who were generally just trying to get along in a culture that didn’t assist them. (Thatcher was a right pain in the arse!)
@everyone - and yeah this has nothing to do with football or football hooligans, if you want that then download “Scum”. The soundtrack is amazing if you like roots reggae, oi and ska. (Or just grew up in the 80s like me!)

This is a cool site & respect, Firstly This film is very realistic, im very critical of films when it comes to realism and this was done to a high standard, This is not mainly to do
with football hooligans at all, in fact there are only seconds
of clips of them kicking a ball which they remove from some young asian children.
This is another british classic along with man Dancin, i recommend you to see this

No football/soccer anywhere in this film. Saw it like half an hour ago and its a total modern classic. I loved it.
Allright, finaly got arround to see this one. Impressiv.
Great cast, well written and directed, damn fine soundtrack of course, and a story that should make you think, but not in a preachy kind of way at all.
Really, a good one to check out. 9 out of 10.,
btw, the subtitle states what song is playing, allways love that. So if you like the music and need some names, check that out.
