The Simpsons Movie DVDSCR XViD-mVs
maVensupplier already had a shot at releasing the The Simpsons Movie with a TS a couple of weeks ago but it got nuked and propered. This afternoon they are trying again and have come back strong with a very early DVDSCR! “I will not illegally download this movie” heh
Mr. X: A nice early surprise from group mVs, a group famous for its screeners and R5s. Judging from the sample, the video is clear and crisp with perfect coloring, no darkness or blurring like the TS. The audio is also impressive, much more so than the TS from PUKKA. This is the next best thing you download besides the R5, if in fact the rest of the video does not have any B/W scenes or copyright messages. I’ve gone through about half of the movie and so far there are no black and white scenes or copyright/owner messages. The only blip I can really recognize are the black ovals in the top right corner that show up for about 1/3 second. These little blips and blotches are manually placed in all films shown in the theaters anyways, I guess they do that to make it look authentic, but they’re all planted obviously. There is also a small, transparent FOXINT message that shows up occasionally for a few seconds throughout the film. This is a gem!

to subscribe to usenet servers you need to pay (usualy 5e-7e per month for european usenet providers or $10-$15, $20 for giganews for US usenet providers…
choosing usenet provider is to you, depend of your will to spend more or less money or what ppl say about usenet provider that you look for… all comercial usenet servers carry all binaries, and share same data through usenet… diferent is only stability of servers, reputation, speed, price plans, and retention (how days server keeps binaries before deleted it to free space for new ones)

no B&W scenes. Only has a small fox watermark at like 9 mins and something. Hardly takes away from this great early copy.

Those “blips” are marks for theater operater to change tape. It is in every movie showed in theater (maybe not where projectors are digital.)

what sort of markings are you refering to, i have heard this b4 but to no avail, it would cost a fortune to mark each film relating to each cinema, no-one really knows. Pearsonaly i dont think so because it would have no effect xcept sacking the manager of that particular cinema, but we all know they r on a back hander when it comes to recording cams , e.g . rent a cinema for a private birthday nudge nudge wink wink ….. Seeing how the release has the black spots indicating when two reels are joined together, I would assume this is a nicely done telecine, possibly from an R5 or the likes.

Region 5 DVD’s (R5) are digital. Telecine is using a machine to transfer analogue frames to a digital/electronic media. So good old film reels with frame by frame copying… (all older film and movies that are not shot on digital media, are using the telecine technique to transfer to dvd)
The DVDR is the best one to get, the xvid (700mb) version pixelates and has some ghosthing. But almost perfect release, only thing that can top it is a R1/R2 with 5.1 audio

In addition to what splico said, the marks are in the video because for the transfer from film to a digital media the film has to be “photographed”. Afterwards you use all kinds of filters and post production to improve the image, reduce noice and remove the burn marks in the upper right corner. As in most DVD Screeners and R5s, this post-cleaning is not yet done, thats why DVD Screeners and R5s are often, but not always, inferior in their quality to final DVDRips and thats also why the marks are still there.

how come the screen is small for the first few minutes
doh… that is how the film is made…. the transition from tv size to widescreen is a part of the movie, and a way of changing the look of the animation since the tv series are shown in 4:3 and this movie is in 221:100. Hope this answers your question, and yes it was like that in the movie theaters too.

Russian R5 would be without any watermarks.

I generaly like Simpsons. This movie is more boring then most boring episodes. I just can’t believe producers didn’t come up with anything better, assuming they have 2 decades of experience.
The later Simpsons seasons on TV are quite boring for some time now, but the movie was really refreshing, enjoyed it from start to end.

They are called “cue marks” and are used for projectionists, allowing them to know when one part of the movie reel switches over to the next.

If they ever started using cue marks as a way to tag each copy of the movies, I suspect they would use something slightly more cleaver. Perhaps shaping the cue marks slightly or something like that, that way they could still be used for their original purpose as well.

The quality of this release is very nice. IMO this one is good enough to hold me over until retail dvd. The scene did an excellent job by getting out a release of this quality so soon after theater release.
In contrast, I’m still waiting patiently for a release of this quality for harry potter(0 for 2 so far).
This is most obviously a DVDSCR, I can’t even fathom having to explain why to some of these idiots, it’s not a TC, google TC to go learn and understand why only an idiot would say that.
It’s NOT an R5 , again, search for the scene NFO about R5 and what they are to understand anything with a WATERMARK can’t be an R5, it’s a wide screen, DVDSCR as stated.
Far from DVD quality? Watch the damn release then say that, it’s fantastic! You barely even notice that little watermark, great sound, perfect picture, really I don’t even need the dvdrip, this is perfect.

Anyone else having trouble burning this to DVD?
Everyone’s saying how great the video & audio are for this release, and I’ve no problem with the video, but I’m having to double my audio level to hear it properly. Anyone else getting this? or can it be fixed with a codec or something? any help would be greatly appreciated.
If it was a TC or R5, why is there watermarks? For it to be a TC that would mean they made a cinema-tape with watermarks (which doesn’t make sense since they are quite expensive and small cinemas don’t even have their own one). If it was an R5, then that would mean that the official russian retail dvd will have watermarks (makes as little sense as the TC one).
Guess what; u make a nice TC, get it on torrents.
Some grp steals ur source, watermark during re-code to fake a dvd scr.

I dunno, I was slightly let down after watching the movie. Think I derive a lot more satisfaction from watching any of the episodes from the TV series regardless of season.

@156: Well, next time you post a link make sure it’s not one that requires you to pretend to be the google bot or register (or be in another language than english).
The above arguments was based on the asumtion that mVs were not the kind of group that faked watermarks. If another more unknown group or a group with bad reputation I would probably agree with you. 
this movie(as mentioned above) was first placed on Demonoid by a “woman”named Loubylou…this movie being her first “UP”, incredible!!
mVs then took it and ran with it…..I say thanks Loubylou, not mVS…with respect to mVs

Are those blips there to give ‘movement’ to otherwise static images?
that sample blip there is from a sequence where there is little movement on the screen, perhaps all those blips are there to stop it all looking like it’s ‘frozen’ or lazy animation where only mouths are moving?

These are only the “forced” subtitles that appear twice in the movie. Once when a bird is talking and again when Santa’s Little Helper Barks to Bart.I made them myself using avanced subtitler, and they are transcribed from the movie itself so they are 100% correct.

Fantastic quality. I had problems with the sound untill someone suggested using VLC player. Plays it no problem, convert using winavi then burn with ashampoo.

the movie was kind of weird because it look wide screen [had the black bars at the top and bottom, cuz tv is not widescreen] but it was full screen… well its a good one anyways so have fun, you’ll see wat i mean when u see it

Can someone help me? Everytime I try to download a file from from one of the rapidshare links the size its barely 6 kb? Im using flash get, I know its not the right file? Am I suppose to have the premium account in order to download it? I even tried go to the website and clicking download free and it still doesnt work properly. Any suggestions would be nice
I downloaded twice but I always get a bad video file with a broken AVI Header. All the rar files are good to go (checked both .sfv and with WinRAR), only the final movie file has a problem.
In WMP11 it says I’m missing some codecs (no sound or audio – unplayable) and in VLC it says that the AVI Header is broken, I can play the movie normally but the scroll thing doesn’t work and the movie just stops at 34:40 into to movie and will not continue.

erm, anyone having trouble burning to a dvd? whenever I do it, audio is out of sync. And thats about 5 different burning programs.

The blips and blotches are actually reel change markers. (Some) theatre projecters use them to automatically switch reels. (Each reel of 35mm film is about 20 minutes long so there’s a fair few of them to swap between in your average movie.) For a seamless join (which doesn’t always work – you know how sometimes at the theatre, one scene finishes and another one starts halfway into what somebody is saying – now you know why) the projector recognises the markers and cues up the next reel at the appropriate time. This enables the projectionist to comfortably project more than one movie at a time (on different screens, obviously). Some projectors need you to do this manually – if you have a local non-chain theatre, this may be the case. If you’re really interested, ask to see the manager and see if they’ll give you a tour of the projection booth – they’re usually quite nice about that kind of thing.
The presence of the blips tells us that this telecine was made from a theatre print. (Which is why there is a bit of jitter and film artifacts that you wouldn’t usually see in a pristine retail DVD – this print has been battered about a bit.)
