There Will Be Blood TELECINE XViD-PUKKA

First telecine of 2008 and it couldn’t be any better with the release of the very popular movie There Will Be Blood by PUKKA. Unfortunately the quality isn’t as good as I had hoped it would have been but it is still very watchable. The sound is fine too not bad but not great. The movie has been highly rated at IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes so its defiantly worth watching enjoy.

Update: [NUKE] [ XVID ] [ There.Will.Be.Blood.TELECINE.XViD-PUKKA ][ glitch.on.CD1.at.11m40s_and.on.CD2.at.24m58s.and.goes.400ms.off.sync_i12.tinypic.com.6wnsco2.jpg ]

A sprawling epic about family, greed, corruption, and the pursuit of the American dream. Set in the booming West coast oil fields at the turn of the 20th century, “There Will Be Blood” follows the rise of rugged prospector Daniel Plainview (Day-Lewis) who becomes an independent oilman after hitting it rich with the strike of a lifetime. Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film is inspired by Upton Sinclair’s novel “Oil!”

This release should be NUKED. I have seen this movie in theaters, and I can tell you with certainty that this release is missing footage; in fact, there are two scenes that are cut short during the first 15 minutes of the release. i.e. between 11:39 and 11:40, the movie jumps from one scene right into the middle of another (even without seeing the original, you can tell that the transition between the two scenes in this release seems a little abrupt).

  22. January 12th, 2008 | 11:04

    @ J.P. Guinness

i just looked at the times u mentioned and i do agree something is mucked up there just wait for a nuke i guess

ps i havent seen it in the movies so i dont know what is missing

  23. tobaloke
    January 12th, 2008 | 11:04

mind filling us in on how much of the scene(s) are missing, and what exactly we might have missed?

    out of sync disc 2

  25. January 12th, 2008 | 11:13

yarp systemsdead i think its out of sync i just skimed through looking for it

  26. J.P. Guinness
    January 12th, 2008 | 11:24

Ok, well without spoiling too much, I can tell that the beginning (a minute or more) of the following scene that all of us have seen in the trailer is missing: Daniel Day-Lewis is well-dressed and addressing a group of locals saying, “ladies and gentlemen, when I say I’m an oil man, you will agree, I’m a family man. This is my son and partner H.W. Plainview”. All of the aforementioned dialogue from the trailer is missing. In addition,…

    SPOILERS (kind of):

within the first five minutes, there is a scene where Day-Lewis is digging his first oil well. The full theatrical movie shows the entire, arduous oil-drilling process. This Pukka release leaves some of it out, and the video abruptly cuts to a later part in the scene much like as I described in my first comment.

All of this is within the first 15 minutes. I’ll continue watching and let you all know if something more vital to the plot line is missing. However, I believe that these shortcomings do affect the overall quality of the this release. It just doesn’t transition well when one seen abruptly cuts to another; it’s more like watching a workprint or a broken movie reel.

Hope this is better than no country for old men.

Was i one of the few that thought it was trying way too hard???

Daniel Day Lewis is a top actor who really plays his roles good so am waiting on this one for atleast a complete release.

I would imagine that a screener might start floating about if its up for awards like no country???

    January 12th, 2008 | 13:15

OK, there is another missing scene on the second CD at exactly 54:28 .

    ***Spoiler Warning****

The scene that is missing is pretty critical to understanding the relationship between Daniel Day-Lewis and the actor that plays his son. It is the scene where his son marries the blonde girl. Later we find out that his son’s marriage is the first time that his son decides to take a different path in life, which ultimately ends with his son leaving his father’s business and moving to Mexico with his wife.

    ***END SPOILER***

again, this missing scene causes a very abrupt disturbance in the flow of the movie.

  36. J.P. Guinness
    January 12th, 2008 | 13:19

@ tito: Set the audio time shift to -335ms shortly after first noticing the sync problem on CD2. That should fix it.

  37. J.P. Guinness
    January 12th, 2008 | 13:23

Ok, another big screw-up at 55:24 on CD2. I’m starting to think this was a workprint that was telecined. the events in the end are re-ordered and taken out of chronology.

  38. January 12th, 2008 | 13:33

its missing heaps the nfo stats that is 2hrs and 22 mins while RT says it should be 2 hrs and 38 mins

  39. J.P. Guinness
    January 12th, 2008 | 13:41

That’s it!! This release cut-off the very last lines of the movie. I 100% guarantee it. Will someone who saw the theatrical release confirm this for everyone so we can get this nuked? The very last two words of the film are THE BEST and, at the same time, the funniest, spoken words in the film.

Do not watch this. If you don’t believe me, just go on imdb message board for There Will Be Blood and the users there will confirm the real ending.

  47. mitch
    January 12th, 2008 | 16:41

I liked no country alot and at least the bald release of that film was excellent quality. Pukka has the screener and maybe other do to, but nobody at all knows how to crack “cinea protection” read the nfo.

This could be the end of all screeners, this season we haven’t had alot compared to last year and previous :-(

  49. Joey55
    January 12th, 2008 | 16:50

#47 - Pukka always has that bit about Cinea Protection in their NFOs - even in the DVD Screener releases they put out.

That doesn’t mean they have a screener for this that has Cinea Protection.

  50. spudwas
    January 12th, 2008 | 17:14

Oh well……so close! Yet the wait for a true screener is like waiting for Santa to arrive and it’s only Dec 3rd! Pukka’s release is like opening the biggest Xmas present under the Xmas tree and finding out it’s clothes!…….sorry for the Xmas metaphors.

my thoughts on the film. Worth seeing, just because of DDL, i mean seriously, i liked him before but man he’s at a whole other level. I’ve watch a lot of films, and have never seen a better performance then this. I would be agast if he doesnt win an oscar. The story hbowever is a strange onem its not really a typical film, and you’re not sure where its going, for wheatever weaknesses it has, DDL performance makes up for it…

  55. Omar
    January 12th, 2008 | 19:05

SORRY those whom don’t know what the last two comments were about . The screeners that have been coming out were using the Cinea system which you need a seprate custom player and code in which to play the material. Thus making it difficult for groups to rip. There may have been 2 or 3 times as many screeners on the market if this peice of equipment weren’t in use.

  60. glorybear
    January 12th, 2008 | 21:41

@seethis-of course they sent out screeners of this film! you think every academy voting member goes to the cinema to watch all the candidate films?

any company who didnt send out screeners would be giving the kiss of death to their movie!just cos one hasnt appeared yet doesnt mean they havent sent any out-just means no group has got hold of one yet.

what about all the academy voters who live outside america? how you think they are gonna see “there will be blood” when it isnt released outside the united states yet?

  61. riquelme
