I am not normally a fan of British Television… especially when it comes to Dramas. But I love this show. It is very gritty and raw and had me watching since episode one. If your a fan of hired guns and conspiracies with out the dragged out story lines of other dramas. Give The Fixer a Try. As crime ravages Britain with daily news of shootings, gangs out of control and rumours of corruption within the establishment and the police seemingly losing the battle, who can bring order?
Lenny is targeting the kingpin of judicial corruption, Richard Blakeney, to expose his network of bent policemen and corrupt judges.

pretty lame show and most stuff from the UK has a really short run of episodes.
@1. Tamzin Outhwaite has confirmed that series 2 is sure to come. So do not fret (yet).
@5. I somewhat agree. The Office is paradoxically, an example and counterexample. I would say that the Office has done a wonderful job skewing away from its sarcastic brother up until the end of Season 3. Season 4 is where you are right. It definitely skewed from British-influenced subtle humor to pompous American comedy. Personally, as an American, I think that it is sad what the Office has done to itself. We do have to realize that Coupling was influenced by F*R*I*E*N*D*S and on Jesus knows why NBC decided to influence off of influence and create that awful US remake. Personally, I think it is all about style. It is easy to see why such mindless action, such as 24 (one of my favorite shows), is frowned upon the Brits who watch their equivalent of counter-terrorism, Spooks (it is an intelligent show, but I cannot keep focus without something exploding).
To the rest of the audience, US, UK (or… Canadian?) THE FIXER is a brilliant show. It does not have the flash and sparkle of 24 but it does have intelligence, with, and a tad bit of action. I highly suggest this show to even the 24 lovers out there.
This show is good; if you haven’t watched give it a go. Kiefer Dunderland makes 24 unwatchable for me. Keen Eddie was good.

We do have all your American stuff here, so it’s not like we’re not into the action that you have 24/7, but we can enjoy more sophisticated and ‘intelligent’ TV, something I haven’t really see come out of America lately.

which British accent did you mean? there is at least 4 from the main four actors. And yes the main BIGGEST problem with British series is the short run. Thank god there will be a 2nd series, though we will have to wait a year for it. I like the British Office, but strangely enough I prefer the American version. By the way warrior your are talking the proverbial BüllS*it, It is a high quality programme with a a good main story line with a few good sub-plots.

British drama is not what it used to be before.It could kick american drama’s ass any day before the 2000’s…the 90’s and the 80’s were golden periods for BBC’s dramas…

Have to admit, British TV does seem to be falling apart. The only progs I really watch now are documentaries.
Often I turn on the telly and try to flick down a few channels (assuming I must be watching five) only to find out I am watching BBC1! Quality is really slipping.
I do not however think that the US has better programming, far from it. What they do have is a much greater choice of sh1t, the best and worst of which gets bunged on our screens. I would still trade a million ad supported channels for the BBC. Been to the USA a few times and the commercial breaks are ridiculous, how do you even watch a film when there’s a three minute break every five minutes? I remember watching the classic Predator, took about two and a half hours!! Kept losing interest and got pretty tired but same on every channel.. Guess I could have got a snack every break, hey maybe I am on to something!

I saw the first episode and no the accents aren’t that bad. This show could of been better but it lacks something.. I recommned it anyways.
i watched 2 full episodes and fall asleep halfway through the 3rd…the story is ok, but the accent was very heavy (for me cause i’m not too familiar with the british accent)…will probably watch it when all the subtitles are out…
bleddy americans critisizing our armed forces, they never take into account sheer british grit and let us not forget intelligence. At least we dont keep bombing canadians and other friendlies by accident, with you guys on our team who needs enemies.
