The Universe S01E09 WS DSR XviD-SYS

Our sun is one of billions of stars in the milky-way galaxy. And our galaxy is one of hundreds of billions, maybe a trillion, in the known universe. From the hubble-space telescope comes a view of the universe that was. A magnificent trip through the mists of history, and back nearly all the way to the big bang. Each smudge, each clump, each blob of light, a billion stars there, a trillion stars there. If you want to know our place in the Universe, take a look up, and far, far away to the realm of alien galaxies.

Alien Galaxies: To know our place in the universe take a look far, far away to the realm of Alien Galaxies. Our galaxy is one of hundreds of billions in the universe. The Milky Way consists of more than a billion stars, our sun being only one of them. Take a view of the universe through the Hubble Space telescope and go back almost all the way to the Big Bang. Cutting-edge computer graphics are used to bring the universe down to earth to show what life would be like on other planets, and to imagine what life forms might evolve in alien atmospheres.

    I would assume you have to be a bit tough skinned to do this as posters tend to pile on and nit-pick. That being said, doesn’t the third post in a row on the same series render the first two somewhat moot?

    Thanks everyone for continuing to post this stuff at all. I check in daily. It’s mainly because NTI itself is so hard to glean any information from and it has some good things on it. So this is a useful site. I have to assume that it’s put together by non-english-speaking young people, though. Because if it isn’t…well…let’s just leave it at that.

    I have watched the 3 first ep of this show, and it’s quite nice.. Tough, the old “hyperspace” with sam o’niel is better.. these are differently informative…

    Great job

    @FishScalez

    The only “TV” I watch, I download - so yeah, I did manage to miss all those reruns. And my positive remarks were only intended to contrast all the ignorant pricks who feel the need to criticize

  26. August 3rd, 2007 | 17:53

    The only gripe I have about this series is that although well intentioned, the release group’s decision to make it “widescreen” cut off parts of the screen important in some episodes where text and parts of images are. Not a really big problem, but I grumbled when I first noticed. hehe ^_^

    This is one of the first History Channel shows that hasn’t been dumbed down. I’ve always considered the History Channel to be the dumbed-down version of Discovery, TLC ect. It probably gets higher ratings though, by correctly assuming the mainstream can’t handle anything that requires even the tiniest amount of brainpower. 1/4 of Americans think the sun revolves around the earth, and the percentage that denies evolution is even higher, I think a lot higher. But this is a good space show, as good as PBS.

    typical american dumb documentary based a lot around fear and cheap effects, didn’t like it too much
