The Tripper LiMiTED DVDRip XviD-BeStDivX

BeStDivX released limited DVDrip of new horror movie “The Tripper”. It have 7.2/10 IMDB score, based on 342 votes, so probably is worth to download & watching.

PLOT: A bunch of hippies descend on a small woodsy town for a concert, little realizing the terror that awaits them: an axe-wielding Ronald Reagan running amok in a one-man war against drugs. The sheriff (Thomas Jane) tries to control the madness but a corrupt mayor and a greedy promoter (Paul Reubens) insist the free-love festival must go on no matter how high the body count. It’s a scrappy little low-budget horror indie given some star clout thanks to David Arquette (the sheriff in the SCREAM films) in his directorial debut. Jason Mewes (aka Jay of Jay & Silent Bob fame) is one of the more acid-happy hippies. Lukas Haas plays a doe-eyed folk-singer type who tries to stay relatively sober since his uptight new girlfriend (Jaime King) is already recovering from some previous trauma. The music is punchy (Fishbone play at the concert) and the dialogue spot-on. There’s also some nifty psychedelic special effects and, of course, plenty of gore for those inclined. Arquette makes fine use of the gorgeous old-growth forests of Northern California, and gets the drug culture references just right. Free blunt wrappers and Reagan stickers were handed out to patrons during the film’s theatrical run, linking this to the old gimmick films of William Castle, crossed with a dash of Cheech & Chong. You may never look at Reagan the same way again, but for those in the proper mood, this will make a perfect 4:20 AM cult horror-druggie-comedy film to visit again and again.

“The rambling story attempts to turn the genre on its head, but it ends up giving in to every slasher cliché (Arquette himself plays a backwoods redneck). The acting ranges from abysmal to barely adequate.”

Boo: Let us not forget that you are an ignorant git, and that rottentomatoes.com is also not the end-all-be-all movie review source.

You’re absolutely right, Hikaricore. An ignorant git I am, I’d rather listen to your gut-based opinion than to the consensus of professional movie critics summed up on those “not the end-all-be-all” sites like metacritic.com and rottentomatoes.com. Please accept my apology for this movie is the best thing that happened to humanity since the advent of retarded teenagers to what is presently known as the Internet.

yes, yes, continue to eagerly slurp up these SHITTY movies – and then complain when Britney Spears is winning the Oscar two years down the road.

and don’t even try deleting my comment. Hollywood churns out pure, complete horse shit. And everyone always raves about it. Well I’m sick of you know-nothings watching these awful movies. If you had half of a brain, you’d stop supporting the teenager-oriented crap that porks itself onto the local cinema every Friday. Fuck you all. Thanks.

    @ sam,
what you don’t seem to grasp is that some people just want to watch a ’shitty’ no-brainer movie now and again. Fair enough if you want to watch “Schindler’s List” or Kurosawa films every time, but I quite like a trash movie at times.

I remember watching a film in the early 90’s called ‘The Vagrant’ with Bill Paxton in it. Now this ain’t an intellectual classic, but I have very fond memories of watching this film (while stoned and half-cut).

BTW, if anyone knows where to get a hold of a (non-VHS) copy of ‘The Vagrant’, I’d kiss your teatowel holder. :)

Yeah I remember watching the Vagrant when it was on sky movies when I was younger a great film.

Try not to listen to the haters too much on this one. The Tripper has been receiving generally positive feedback from it’s screenings at film festivals. Not as scientific as Meta critic and Rotten Tomatoes but if it’s good enough to get accepted to some notable film festivals it can’t be all sludge.

Now if only a screener for Hatchet would present itself.

rottentomatoes quotes professional journalists and critics (especially the Cream of The Crop section)
IMDB rating system refers to largely uneducated and tasteless mob, half of which is semi-retarded teenagers who bump up the scores by rating everything they even remotely like in tens.

At least hibby is honest when he says that “some people just want to watch a ’shitty’ no-brainer movie now and again.” Most of you watch crap, know that it is crap, and still argue that it’s the best damn movie ever made.
