The Thing was and still is a great movie. So the SFX are outdated, which I don’t believe though. Like the CGI remake in 2009 is going to make it better right? The storyline was great and well met with the book “Who goes there”. And for me the storyline is more important than any SFX . Movies nowadays are like a giant rollercoaster: the feeling of adrenaline pumpin to your veins…and then the ride ends…and nobody talks about it again.

bam, not all people have seen this movie so what? Remember, most of people in here are 18-22 years old, thus chances are all of those people seen “the Thing” are very slim.

There’s no other film that can match this with regard, not only to some incredible non-cgi special effects, but watching everyone on the research base become paranoid & suspicious about who is going to ‘turn’ next.

Great movie, i saw it from behind the couch when we had a sleepover at a friends house. I got so freaked out my parents had to come get me. Had nightmares for years from the scene with the wolf turning alien

This is corrrect tagging, as your HD TV has a resloution of 1920 x 1080 pixels for 16:9 ratio broadcasts or media. But like many older movies “The Thing” is a 2.35:1 ratio so you’ll get black bars top and bottom of the screen and the actual vertical pixels used for the image area is only 816 pixels, but you get the full width pixels, hence the 1920 x 816. This means the black bars are using up 132 pixels top and botom, a total of 264 pixels.

Yeah it’s a waste but there’s no way round this!

Although John Carpenter ‘famously’ prduced the music to many of his movies, the original score to The Thing was in fact by Morricone. Try and research your comments before trying to correct others!

This movie well worth downloading (or buying!) in HD, looks really nice.
