Scene group CiTRiN have released a Sci-Fi Horro film called “The Thaw” starring Val Kilmer, looks pretty good for a lower budget film judging from the trailer. The story follows a team of researchers in the Arctic who are attacked by a mysterious parasite. Is it just me or does this sound very similar to the classic 1982 Sci-Fi/Horror film “The Thing” to anyone else? :P

At a remote Arctic research station, four ecology students discover the real horror of global warming is not the melting ice, but what’s frozen within it. A prehistoric parasite is released from the carcass of a Woolly Mammoth upon the unsuspecting students who are forced to quarantine and make necessary sacrifices, or risk infecting the rest of the world.

    @5, maybe the reason not to give this low budget release a chance is because Kilmer's best was in "the Doors" and as Doc Holiday with Kevin Kostner as Wyatt Earp. In short he is well past his prime and should have retired long ago and saved himself from the "straight to the dollar rental bin" movies he now plays in.

    @28 if your going to make fun of an actor get the movie right he played with Kurt Russel who was Wyatt Earp the Kevin Kostner version of Tombstone not only sucked it wasn't svsn closed to the facts about the town of Tombstone or Wyatt Earp in the 1890's Kilmer isn't finished he also kicked but in heat upstaged by De Nero and Pachino he needs a new Agent

Facts are facts. his best is far and again behind him, but then again with your taste in actors you would still buy tickets to see Joan Rivers or the sleezebag Michael J.
