It’s DiAMOND-friday and this time they bring us a very decent family adventure flick. What might disappoint you is that, yet again, they’ve chosen to pack their release on 1 CD. It’s not too bad, since the movie only runs 96 minutes long, but it’s just MP3 audio… Either way, great release.

Synopsis: When the three Grace children — troubled Jared; his bookish twin, Simon; and their sister, Mallory, a fencing jock — move to the ancient Spiderwick mansion, they are at first none-too-enchanted by the rundown Victorian … until they discover a Brownie, an enchanted creature, living in the walls. They soon find a book — Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You — that will open their eyes to the invisible, odd, and sometimes dangerous world of dragons and boggarts, phookas and fairies, sprites and goblins that is all around them. When they cross paths with Mulgarath, an ogre, they realize quickly that he will stop at nothing to get his hands on the Field Guide. Based on the bestselling series of books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black.

    DiAMOND are terrible recently. Most people in this day and age have good surround sound systems where MP3 stereo audio just isn’t good enough.

    google works wonders for simple questions like that. but nzb files are for newsgroups. You open the NZB file with a newsreader, and then it will download each part. When it is done, it puts all the parts together and creates the file. NZB’s are popular because they download very fast.

    Gah, Diamond and there stupid 1 cd rule again. Absolutely rubbish!

    The worst part is the daft scene rules which stop another group releasing it in two cd quality.

    Honestly, the scene is completely rubbish these days with rules which have needed updating for the last few years!

    Thank god with still have the p2p sources, which for the record, are completely destroying the scene lately.

    Forgot to add, most 90 minute movies are 1 CD rip, this one is 96 minutes that’s probably why diamond went with 1 CD instead of 2CD. The later would be overkill.

    Wow! Nice release for a Friday. The scene has certainly picked up over the last 2 or 3 days. I was really looking forward to this. I saw it in the cinema and it was very good and rather refreshing to see. I would advise downloading this, if this is your genre mind ;)

    And I agree with above posters about the ridiculous “scene” rules regarding fitting a movie onto a cd. I have never met anyone, EVER, that needs to put a movie onto a cd!
    Why are we stuck with this antiquated notion?
    I say, just have a rule where there is a standard bit rate for the smallest possible file which still allows very good viewing. Who cares what the overall size comes out to be! Like I’m gonna complain about a 900MB file versus 700MB! It’s just 3 extra minutes of downloading!
    Once I watch the whole thing I delete it! No need to save space, I’ve got a 500GB drive!

    @55:

    You go to newzleech or wherever and download the NZB file (like the one I linked to above).

    Then you open that with a newsread program (I use GrabIt, it’s free and easy to use for beginners: I just started using NZBs two weeks ago and it’s easy).

    The newsreader needs to connect with a server, in most cases a news server of your ISP.

    Then it starts downloading at fast and steady speeds! (My ISP server provides me with 300KB/s, try getting that when a torrent is just released when you only have 1 or a few seeders and hundreds of leechers, you’d be lucky to get 20KB/s!)

    You are downloading in RAR format in most cases, so after downloading: unpack and enjoy!

    So in essence it’s comparable to using torrents:

    Torrent:
    - download .torrent file
    - open with torrent program, e.g. utorrent
    - download rar files
    - extract and enjoy

    NZB:
    - download .nzb file
    - open with newsreader, e.g. GrabIt
    - download rar files
    - extract and enjoy

    The only difference is:

    Torrent: depends on how many seeders there are and their available bandwith

    NZB: always the same constant download speed, but after a few days the news servers ‘refresh’ and the content is removed, so you have to download it quickly after release.

    #55 – all you need to know is a NZB file contains information on a particular group of files in a particular group. This info tells your news client where to find them when it’s logged onto your newsserver. NZB stands for NewZBin from http://www.newzbin.com a pay service that has (and invented)these NZB files, although usually you don’t need to pay to use the NZB files you find elsewhere.

    Your right for one thing… Most of us hava a decent surround sound system… but also an HD tv.. So, why download a 2cd’s, when you can download HD-Rip…

    DiAMOND 4ever. For a “crap” movie like this, a lcd monitor with headphones works just fine.

    I hate bitroad and all these other sites that require you to download a tool to use their service. Rapidshare takes all day or several days to download. Flyupload lately won’t even let me download half the time. Megashares is almost as bad as rapidshare in that IF and WHEN I can get it to work right, it only does 200mb, and that’s IF it works right, most times just getting the link into a downloader program like getright uses up my first 200mb, and I have to wait the timelimit and get nothing for it.

    Just use adrive. It only takes a couple hours, one link, never fails (like VIP-files always bails part way through the download). I know you guys post links from other uploaders, but pass it along to those guys who upload to USE ADRIVE PLEASE.

    If you have trouble using flyupload, it’s probably something on your end that’s causing the problem rather than the site. Eatlime, however, is a piece of crap, and Adrive is pretty slow most of the time. But then again it could just be your connection.

    It doesn’t take all day to download from rapidshare. I average 900k throughput from them.

    Of course I was willing to spend 15 cents a day to get the speed. Torrents make my voip work horribly and I can get this show in around 10 mins instead of 2 hours it would have taken through the torrent since I am on comcast.

    Oh, and even though I already grabbed the movie yesterday in about 15 minutes using the free filefactory links, I decided to test the speeds of the sites in question.

    Adrive = ~ 110KB/s 1h 45m
    Bitroad = ~ 150KB/s 1h 15m

    For someone who are just a leecher to the scene world, u guys complain alot. It’s just enough that DIAMOND release it without something in return and you guys complaining just because there’s no AC3 5.1 surround sound in it. Why don’t you rip it your own and enjoy the surround sound system. I, for one wants 5.1 surround but you dont see me complaining. Grow up!
