I dont usually post Bluray rips but i just got home and i know this is being posted very late after pre (about 8 hours) but i had to post this as its one of my faveourite movies of all time.
Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for the murders of his wife and her lover in the late 1940s. However, only Andy knows that he didn’t commit the crimes. Sent to Shawshank Prison to do hard time, Andy–a taciturn banker in the outside world–has to learn to get by in the brutal, cutthroat confines of prison life. His quiet strength slowly earns the respect of his fellow inmates–most notably, Red (Morgan Freeman)–and even much of the prison staff. But Andy’s seemingly stoic acceptance of his unjust imprisonment hides a fierce determination for freedom.

Favourite movie of all time, hundreds of thousands of votes is a good indication of it’s popularity. It is a testament to how good the godfather and shawshank redemption are that they are both still top after having screened so long ago.

Not a fan of Godfather at ALL and Batman is just OK. I love this movie and i watched it many times. No 1 for sure. IMDB is right 100%.

Agreed. TDK is overrated and over hyped. The Shawshank Redemption has more votes and it’s average is still higher than TDK. Dark Knight fanboys relax already. There are much better movies out compared to TDK, get over it.

Under any circumstation popcorn movie like Batman , Ironman , Hulk , Superman , Bond ,Bourne , Independece Day, and other crap special effects fiesta shouldn’t be in top 50 movies . And fortunattely they can’t climb in those tops too high.
A movie who deserve to be there is a movie who don’t use cliche-s , deja vues , and a movie who touch directly your feelings.
But 12-14 years old can’t understand this yet.
this is one of the greatest movies of all time. followed by godfather I and II and then dark knight too….The reason why dark knight works is bcoz of excellent performance by the cast especially Late Heath Ledger…and the story takes all the little gr8 pieces from the gr8 comics of batman…sons of batman is seen, the proving a point from the killing joke, things from the dark knight returns comic from alan moore is also present..So you can say that dark knight has lot of history, and it is the knowledge from it, that makes this movie work……….Shawshank redemption is great becoz it gives us lesson in hope.
I can all assure you that “The Dark Knight” will be forgotten in 2 years max!
The Shawshank Redemption is from the god forgotten year of 1994 and yet it own IMDB.
FFS TDK is a total crap. No i dont mean in comparison, its just crap. I saw it month ago and i cant remember much from it, just that batman was chasing joker, and never killed him when he had a chance, and Joker had no motivation at all, just to be bad and chaotic(some chalange for writter)

The Dark Knight is a good movie no doubt, but better than The Godfather? Better than Raging Bull? Not a chance. There are many movies that are better than Dark Knight. Good film, but also the most overhyped.

The dark knight is best because of the director, he is the master of story telling and directing. The story is extremely deep and epic with an amazing cast, Bale = best actor ever, Ledger = alright actor but this is gotta be the best performance ever. Aaron Eckart = Mediocre mostly but this movie brought out his amazing abilities. Every actor in this movie gave it 100% basically.

Don’t worry, TDk is still over hyped, it was a great movie you can’t deny that but again, not for the top 10. Shawsank is a well earned number one and also Godfather trailing.

are you serious that Christian bale is the best actor ever because that is just laughable. He can play a total of 3 characters from all the movies he has been in. I like the guy but he by far is not the best ever. I love this movie it is one of my favorites and the cast of Robbins and freeman and everyone else is just amazing, the story it tells is amazing.

I’ve tried to watch this at least 3 times when its been on TV but I’ve always fallen asleep. I think this movie is completely boring but it seems most people never get tired of cliched prison stuff. It has always puzzled me why this is so ranked so high on imdb.

Shawshank is an incredible movie. If you like movies to be fast action and not that much dialog, or toilet humor, then this isn’t your movie. The acting was excellent, the story was incredible, and I couldn’t believe it was a Stephen King movie when I first saw it. King is an incredible story teller. If you don’t like this movie it’s okay. You should realize that this many people thinking this movie is great, and you don’t, it’s probably you that doesn’t understand it.

Gr8 Movie, Whoever watched this film knows why this film is gr8. It’s boring from the beginning as some may say, but the people who watched the film know that the slow pace of this film has a gr8 impact at the end. People who found this film boring would be persons with very little patience. Probably people who gave up on lot of things.
The film is an elongated lesson that teaches that hope of succeeding can make a person keep on trying, which in turn may make the what he was hoping for a reality……….
