Hey, HALCYON! We haven’t heard much of them in the HD-scene lately but apparently they’re back (with The Rookie). The plot looks a little bit like Coach Carter except with baseball, and I liked Coach Carter so I might be grabbing this one. Reviews are nice and the IMDB-rating is decent too. Let’s have a look :)

When a shoulder injury ended his minor league pitching career twelve years ago, Jim Morris resorted to the next best thing: coaching. But Jim’s team, knowing their coach is a great ball player, makes a deal with him: if they win the district championship, they want Jim to try out for a major-league organization. Going from worst to first, the team makes it to state, and Jim is forced to live up to his end of the deal. While there prove to be a lot of pitches to be thrown before he makes it off the mound, big-league dreams are revived, and there’s no telling where he could go.

    remember i watched some of this… goddamn it was awful.. absolutely hated it… be warned, this is one of those– o e guy against everything and good moral flicks

    Hey Bram, this came a few years before Coach Carter and is much better

    this movie is nothing at all like coach carter. It is not about the students but about the coach who becomes the MLB’s oldest rookie. Movie is a little slow paced but if you like baseball it is a def must see.
