Releaselog

The rlslog IRC Channel has Arrived!

Well hello there, i guess yor here because your interested in the rlslog IRC channel. Great! Now if you know what IRC is and you just want all the important info and such then you just need part one, if you are unfamiliar with IRC then you can go straight to part two.

Server: irc.austirc.net
Ports: 6667 (6697 for SSL)
Channel: #rlslog
Hotlink: irc://irc.austirc.net:6667/rlslog

The rlslog IRC chat room is well just that a chat room where you can come and talk about whatever you wish. It’s a friendly place where you can talk with other rlslog members in real time, its a great to use if you need to find help on almost any subject, as well as to meet new peers. It is entirely free, secure and fun to boot!

Its more than just talk though, the rlslog chat room has “bots” which can perform a variety of tasks on command. The best thing our bots can do though is announce when a new article has been published on rlslog. This can means that you will always be up to date on The Scenes hottest releases!

You can also use the IRC for joining a PRE channel, which is located on the same network as our channel. Pleae note we are not affiliated with that channel at all.

To join all you need to do is grab yourself an IRC client (we suggest mIRC or XChat) then connect to the AustIRC network. Here are the servers and there location:

irc.austirc.net - for any server
au.austirc.net - for any server located in Australia
us.austirc.net - for any server located in United States
eu.austirc.net - for any server located in Europe
ssl.austirc.net - for a SSL enabled serverGenerally you want to pick the one closest to you. But you can pick any, they will all work no matter where you are. After you are connected to LinkNet all you need to is join our channel which is #rlslog. you can type ‘/join #rlslog’ or use the GUI methods offered by mIRC or XChat. Then your in, you can chat with others or even just idle. Most of the rlslog staff are there and are more then willing to talk or answer questions. The rest of the people in the channel at the moment are a friendly bunch as well. Hope to talk to you soon.

ofcourse you are allowed to discuss releases before we post them, that’s the meaning of the channel! you can also point us to new releases, in case we didn’t notice them already.

“the torrent for Mirc on newtorrents has a virus. The authpatch.exe is corrupt.”

No it’s isn’t, it’s a false positive because of the nature of the crack, it’s very clean, the crack works and so does the program, they implemented online checks with this version of irc, which is new, and that’s what authpatch.exe is dealing with.

no virus, not corrupted, fully tested to be clean and functional

    Off-topic: SceneRatings: Site Closed

Due to lack of staff, and therefore lack of posts, SceneRatings is now closed. We may open up again with some other less time consuming concept, so check back with us whenever you feel like.

If you have any ideas for this site, and want to be a part of the team, please feel free to e-mail me at: admin [at] sceneratings.com (remove spaces and convert [at] to @)

If you are looking for a similar site, you can go to: http://www.rlslog.net

I know there’s a lot of copycat sites out there but none of them are nearly as good as Releaselog. Hopefully all of them will meet this fate. But, at least they linked to you guys which is good news.

    About the IRC channel:
Hopefully this will clean up the comments on the website a little.

“ofcourse you are allowed to discuss releases before we post them, that’s the meaning of the channel! you can also point us to new releases, in case we didn’t notice them already.”

How should we go about doing this, considering one of the rules is no linking to copyright material? Or do I misunderstand what copyright material is?

And is it kosher if instead of linking to a torrent site, if we drop a comment in for some random release and then say in irc “check out comment 34 for B-Movie”?

  27. September 9th, 2007 | 20:45

    @Ian

You can give us the release name, and then we will find it ourselfs.

I would go to this network, but it doesn’t have host prefix, which totally defeats the purpose of being anonymous online, a us government official could sit in there and gather ips/hosts without even having to do anything, so until then, maybe i’ll stop by, but not until there’s host security, some people are paranoid :)

using Opera is not necessarily enough.

In Opera’s general settings one has to switch off javascript (and other active content too) for all sites, then allow them for those sites that specifically need JS/PlugIns/Java/gif,svg/audio once you encounter problems.
This way surfing is much less annoying.

    @jvb:

    Q. Why isn’t the Windows version free?
    A. It’s free to try for the first 30 days! Building XChat for Windows is a difficult process, it requires quite some skill and expertise to accomplish. It takes time, and is by no means automated. This version also has some value added features only for Windows, such as opening irc:// URLs from your web browser in an existing instance of xchat, spell checking and graphical emoticons.

    Q. What about the LGPL libraries you link with?
    A. The source code is here if you wish to download it. The bugs I’ve fixed have already been submitted to the relevant bugzillas with patches. The readme.html file has further details. This file is not useful for the average user, if in doubt, you don’t need this :)

Yes, it has to do with the software being commercial for windows platforms. Also, if you check the history of the program, like I did, you’ll see that in many cases the windows version came out before the corresponding POSIX (unix/linux/freebsd) version. Wonder why?

xChat is NOT free. There is no complete source for the win32 binaries, and the linux version is unstable when run in an emulator (like cygwin or xlinux). Also, let’s not start the ever-ongoing elitist crap about operating systems, ok?

  47. Anon-e-Moose

    To clarify my previous statement:

There ARE some source code files available for d/l but those are only ‘difference’ files, only updates to previous code. they only go back to a certain release version, and there is no core source anywhere to be found. At first I thought these were ‘difference files’ that are merged with POSIX source, to reflect the needed changes in order for the program to work under win32, but they are not.

Props on the new IRC channel. Really looking forward to it. I have one question and it may be my main problem….

1.)Is it possible to use the features available on IRC if I am using a MAC OS X platform?

    Im running:

MAC PRO with MAC OS TIGER
Two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon “Woodcrest” processors
    …enough RAM
    and
    Firefox Web Browser

I just bought this….so plzzzz tell me this will operate along side with IRC…or how I can get it too.

    -Thanks!!

It’s ok, no offense was taken from your previous posts…

I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy of the author(s) of xChat. Also, the solution you’re proposing is “gray area” at best, illegal at worst; even if you do get the original win32 code, you need to sift trough it, pick out and remove the parts of code that contain routines regarding registering and restrictions for an unregistered product as well as remove all the registration checks.

The patchwork solution mentioned on silverex.org, as I see it, uses POSIX-intended code libraries but compiles them for win32… Nice abuse, I’ll say :) but it’s borderline stealing…

Would be nice if u guys made some change to your coloring, this Website is great in posting new releases but the CSS added to it is just aweful
Use some radiant background and hovering effect
Would be nice but i know if your site become to famous, they might ban it for copyright things.
