The Return of a BitTorrent Legend!

Im very tired but i just saw this article before i was about to power down my computer and thought it important enough to post. I might edit this post to include more info in the morning but for now here is a little snippit for the original article. Visit TorrentFreak for the full story! The anti-piracy organisations must have thought they had buried this site for good back in 2004 but its not going to be a very good week for them when it goes live again for the first time in 2 and a half years especially with the TPB crew involved.

‘The legendary BitTorrent site Suprnova.org will be back in action soon. Sloncek, the former owner of suprnova.org decided to donate the domain to The Pirate Bay lads, who will relaunch the site in a few days, staying true to its original design. The return of a Legend.’

P.S. When will the madness stop?

I would expect this to be an industry sting operation if it weren’t being hosted by TPB. If it is indeed hosted there, it’s probably legit.

I don’t do torrents anymore, but Suprnova was the shit.

  13. August 3rd, 2007 | 02:10

They got pwnd by riaa/mpaa and I will not trust them, they could be working for the enemy.

So what will the difference be between Suprnova and TPB besides the name ?
The site is not back. The name is…
The people who were involved in the past will probably stay out.

I sold my house and car, divorced my wife, put my children up for adoption, killed my cat and dog, took my parent’s pension and life savings, shot two men, lived in a garbage can… to be with supernova.

Just as supernova told me when it walked away: “I will be late, don’t stay up and wait for me”

    Bad torrents for life,
we fly together we die together.

  21. August 3rd, 2007 | 03:25

It “was” the best site for tracking torrents if your into that kinda thing. But what made it the shit was the community that backed it. It will be the community that makes or breaks it this time too b/c word is that it will be index only. IMHO the only way that this works is b/c TPB is at the wheel. Good luck guys!

@40thousandREMs(13) that is one of the more ignorant things I’ve heard lately. First off MPAA/RiAA didn’t have anything to do with the seizure of the suprnova servers in Slovenia. That was all the work of RetSpan (French equivalent). Second “Sloncek” (not sure what his real name is) was never charged and case was dropped years ago. So he doesn’t have the motive to be a narc.

fuck bittorrent, ftp and usenet. if u like swimming with sharks, ddl rulez the roost.

P.S who remembers the day when everyone sold off their mother to slavery to buy Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) to optimise and resume downloads from your 56K modem…speaking of which, why do they still put them into laptops?

  29. mctrafik
    August 3rd, 2007 | 06:27

surpnova had everything, and it was hard to find anything…

if the rumors were correct, 8% of world’s traffic at some point was from torrents that were found on suprnova. :) Isn’t that nice?

Well.. that was rediculous back then. I’d rather stick to a few websites that care about every torrent they put up. It would be nice to see MPAA attack a big fry for once, again.

Although I h8 to see TPB being so cocky about what they do.. Eventually something bad will happen to them, and it will be a very sad day…

  30. Lynx
    August 3rd, 2007 | 06:44

@the rage you would be surprised how may times I have used the 56k modem in my laptop because a lot of people don’t have dsl or cable so it still comes in handy if you need driver or small program because there is always a phone line. I started using torrents in 2004 so I will be interested in seeing this site.

  31. Amano Jyaku
    August 3rd, 2007 | 07:08

I loved Supernova. It was the first torrent site I went to find something. Everything was broke up into convenient categories, including Asians films, sci-fi and anime.
I saw so many Shaw Bros. films because of them. Now that the site will be hosted in Switzerland along side Pirate Bay, there will be no stopping it.

Bring on the content and the easy to use nav. system again. All hail the king.

Like someone said previously, this is the site that everyone copied “nova” from, including Mininova. The rookies are ignorant of this fact.

Suprnova was the very first torrent site i used in 2002 and i used to use shadows experimental as my torrent prog.. i got my very first anti-virus from there (norton lol) and because i used to use Kazaa before torrent it cleaned over 250 viruses and couldnt remove another 300 lmao.

To everybody who think it’s a scam…do some basic lookup on the domain and you’ll see that it’s the real deal.

    Domain ID:D96700160-LROR

    Name Server:NS2.SUPRNOVA.ORG
    Name Server:NS3.SUPRNOVA.ORG

The name servers maps to the same as thepiratebay.org uses NS{0-3}.THEPIRATEBAY.ORG. If that doesn’t do it, maybe this will

    NS0.SUPRNOVA.ORG has address 83.140.176.159

    % Information related to ‘83.140.176.128 – 83.140.176.255′

This is the work of the TPB crew, the reason for the domain parking page is quite simple. The news leaked prematurely.

Suprnova made torrents so public that people without computers were talking about it. Suprnova helped ruin the torrent scene and don’t you forget it.

But since it got us here, I couldn’t think of a better team to run it :)

“The rookies are ignorant of this fact.”

Actually the rookies are ignorant of the damage the suprnova explosion caused and most forget how bad suprnova really was, it was a great wealth of torrents don’t get me wrong, but you wanna talk about fake, bad and infected torrents? suprnova takes the cake.

TPB is the only group that I can see making suprnova work.

if you don’t want to download fakes, DO NOT DOWNLOAD FROM ISOHUNT, people can’t leave comments so you can’t be warned!!!

mininova is okay…but it kinda sucks

torrentspy is a bit better…but i guess they log traffic now

pirate bay is good…but it kinda sucks

DEMONOID is by far the most organized and trustworthy, beats suprnva down!!!1

  54. Tric

I hate the pirate bay, they’re so damn political. I mean, who cares about whether it should be legal or no? I’m here to download, not listen to people whining about laws. Thus I use mininova, which is lots bigger than TPB and has less downtime.

Anyways. Time will tell if the ‘new’ supr will be any good.

http://www.demonoid.com owns rlslog.net and Mininova. Too many torrents on Mininova require registration, and NewTorrents.info is way, way too slow. Plus I got spyware from a bunch of fake torrents here last month.

Demonoid is private, fast, secure and there’s no fuckwits like there is here.
