In the one hour season finale, A job opening in Corporate has Michael, Jim, and Karen in New York competing against one another. Leaving Dwight in charge of the Scranton branch.

In all seriousness I watched the first couple of episodes of the American version a while back, and I thought it was shit compared to the original (British) version. Since then it has seemed to get loads of awards!. Has it got better, or is it still a pale copy of the original?

I’ll definitely post next week’s CSI, as we now have the miniature killer in captivity but there is an exciting to be continued episode next week.
Both versions are great. Theme and structure are pretty much the same; humor and target demographic are entirely different.

@mrtorche: British office has ended like 4 or 5 years ago (after only 12eps, why do the british always have to end their good sitcoms so soon…), and the us version will enter its 4th season in a few months, so what’s the point to continue criticizing?
Besides, only the first us episodes were using the “british material”, the show has been on its own and doing GREAT for quite some time. And like Nigel said the tone is different and that makes both shows interesting for any comedy fans =)

Yeah it was a shame so few episodes were made, however I think Gervais and Merchant thought they had taken it as far as he could. They do say leave the audience wanting more….
Anyway they did go on and make the excellent Extras!.

I felt the same way. I hated the Office at first. I happened to catch it again one day while waiting for Scrubs to come on and found that it had gotten a lot better. I started watching somewhere around the middle of the second season and fell in love with it. I went back and caught up and now I never miss it!
