My TV Pack for you today is the spin-off series of “The X-Files”, “The Lone Gunmen”. The show was first broadcast in March 2001 and, despite positive reviews, its ratings dropped. The program was cancelled after twelve episodes. The last episode was broadcast in June 2001 and ended on a cliffhanger which was partially resolved in a ninth-season episode of The X-Files entitled “Jump the Shark”. This PACK was released by classic group MEDiEVAL, enjoy!

Unlike The X-Files, whose storylines dealt mainly with supernatural creatures and government alien conspiracies, episodes of The Lone Gunmen generally featured more “plausible” plots, such as government sponsored terrorism, the creeping government-induced police state surveillance society, cheating husbands, corporate crime, arms-dealers, and escaped Nazis. The show had a light atmosphere and focused heavily on physical comedy. The trio were often aided (and sometimes hindered) by a mysterious thief named Yves Adele Harlow.

    THAT is spooky!

    You can find clips with interviews of the cast where they discuss that really strange order from the top.

    There is no episode 14.

    remote_plane is correct, at least in part of North America.

    The episode in question aired on March 4, 2001 and was the pilot episode – or episode 1.

    Can’t confirm the date but it did air on my local GlobalTV affiliate in Montreal that spring. It played on a Sunday night (which March 4 2001 was), the same night X-Files was regularly shown on the channel.

    Huge X-Files geek, I waited for the premiere for weeks and saw it with my own two eyes when it aired. After 911 no one except the two friends who watched it with me believed that I had until I could dig up a copy on-line a couple months later – I’ll grant you that was tougher than I thought, but mostly because there were only a few thousand of us using BitTorrent in those days and Suprnova hadn’t even set up by then IIRC :)

    Maybe it was suppressed from re-runs but definitely aired on TV. Cite sources for these interviews if you want anyone to take you seriously. BTW, I am one of those “inside job” guys so your tale would play into my beliefs – but unfortunately I like to stick to facts.

    It was a charming little series that tried hard to harness the X-Files’ cult following but it lacked the gravitas Mulder and Scully brought to that universe. Thx for the post, though. It’s great to watch again.
