In ancient times, mysterious artifacts referred to as Remnants were discovered all over the world. People used these objects for their awesome powers — a choice that eventually began to cause a rift in the world’s balance. Equality was replaced by those who ruled and those who were ruled over. Yet another Final Fantasy wannabe ripoff Japanese garbage game. Sure helps when the control system is designed for consoles and the developers dont even bother porting it properly.. Man I hate people.
This isn't a bad game at all. it's worth the DL if you like Japanese Rpgs. way better thatn the console version.

I love FF series and almost all the games from squaresoft…'scuse me square-enix, but this game is total and utter crap, overused lame story, poor gameplay, crap combat system, poor graphics and poor performance…

This is quite a big download.. so my question is – is it worth it?
this probably doesn't have the lag that the Xbox 360 version did. that made it unplayable.
why some ppl complain about this game is cos they either hate J-rpgs, couldnt find the console to keybord option in the game, dont like any of the square enix games or dont have the Patience to really look for some research for WHY square released this game to pc to actully give em a reason to buy the game. yes this game is a test for if square wants to make anymore ports to pc. which i think is a shame since i would have loved to see FF13 come to pc >_<
This is actually made by same firm that made FF. It's a bit reptitive, but not so bad overall, it has interestind fighting system.

I love this game. Great story line and graphics. Console version sucks but they fixed all the problems in he pc version. Must own for any final fantasy fans. I have the other one that was posted here a few months back and it works fine.
theKage You can grab the 6GB ver off Piratebay with rencoded videos, basically 4GB less space thx to that, and you won't notice very much in video quality loss to be fair. Specially if size matters the loss of quality is not equal it.

To the two people asking about the difference between this.. and the RLD "homemade" one there is none.. relatively speaking. reloaded released there's only a day or two after public retail release (on Steam IIRC). All they did was take the game and integrate it into their "own" installer. As the game had no "protection" per se.. it IS the FULL game and works perfectly.. no "cracks", patches or overwrites were needed. The downside? No automatic shortcuts were generated and no registry entries adding support in Add/Remove for uninstall.. that's all. I've been using the RLD version (though I've barely played it) and it works just fine.
Now along comes lame PROPHET 2 or 3 months later.. calling theirs "proper". Actually.. judging from their NFO:
"2- Run the installer from the PROPHET dir"
.. if THEIR installer is on the DVD located in a PROPHET dir.. then technically speaking.. it's been altered too.. and they're full of it. I'd bet (sarcasm here) that Square-Enix DID NOT put the main install executable in a PROPHET dir for the actual retail release!
If this title has No protection on the retail side.. then the only true genuine "proper" would be a clone of the retail discs/disc. My guess is that the retail game is a DVD9 in size; and both groups have split it into two DVD5s for convenience/burning purposes.. so if one wants to split hairs.. NEITHER of them is a real proper.. which would also explain why both groups had to resort to their OWN installers.
let me clear some stuff:
1. this game is PUBLISHED by Square-Enix, not made by them, at least not made by the same guys who made FFs, it's another team working under SE's name
2. jRPGs is like any other genre of games, you either like it or you don't, there is nothing like western RPGs are better than japanese ones or vice-versa, it's a matter of taste, get used to it
3. the guys you made it used Unreal Engine 3 for the first time and they suck at it…
4. the game sucks, be it console or pc version, bad gameplay, crappy story, laughable animations and graphics have problems even on good pcs (i have a nice rig and i get tons of textures popping up)
there's not real reason to waste 9GB on this, either this release or RELOADED… it's just a waste, i love FFs and this game sucks.. seriously, you have been warned…

It was developed by an internal team at Square-Enix. Sure, it's not the exact same individuals who, for instance, are working on FFXIII, or who made KH2, but it was still direct Square-Enix employees. Thus, it was developed by Square-Enix.
I'm pretty sure we all understand that at a company as large as S-E, there can be a DOZENS of separate teams, all working on separate projects (some working on games, some working on engines and tech projects, etc).
I do not believe it is true that people believe that S-E is nothing more than the company that makes FF and KH. I think most people understand that it is a large company, with hundreds of employees and many separate teams (who shift membership frequently), all working on different projects. For that matter, the team that makes one FF game, might be different than the team that makes another FF game, so even that is not a given.
Oh, and I won't even mention how you're leaving out Dragon Quest, their most popular franchise in Japan…

To all those that don't know what this game is, it's the latest game in squares `SAGA' series. They've been making these almost as long as FF and if you have played any of the older ones this will be very familiar to you. It plays kinda like a cross between FF tactics and Vagrant Story, so if you like battles more than storylines then give it a shot.

Umm did you know about 3 Xenosagas for PS2? They're prequels for Xenogears, though they fall pale in comparison with the original PS1 game. You should also search out for Star Ocean: Second Story for PS1, it was and still is pretty amazing jrpg from Enix.

This game is NOTHING like Final Fantasy, period. The looks may be similar but that's about it. It has got good and bad reviews, imo this one is one of the worst square (enix) games, but still it beats saga frontiers (which iisn't much anyways)
On the other side if you want this game get PC version as it's by far performance and bugwise the best one of this game out there.
