Sean, VirtualDub is a video editor designed for AVI files. AVI files are a container of separate component streams, usually one video and one or more audio. The process above will cut the complete file into 3 parts, before (1), during (2), and after (3). During the process part 2 will be subject to a delay in the audio stream of (minus)-7000 milliseconds or (minus) -7 seconds syncing the video and audio, and loosing the audio for which there is no video. The last step rejoins the 3 parts, loosing only a short section where there was video without any correct audio.

You can download VirtualDub (Google) unzip and use the above fix in less than 20 minutes. You will need 3 Gig of Hard Disc space.

This has been tested and it works.

SPOILER ALERT
The problem is the video and sound are from different edits and there is a scene (parking the car on the way to the store) that there is audio for but no video. Likewise in the store there will be video without audio. The missing audio, with some work, can be found in the PPV release, but is not included in the above fix.

Update on sync-fix as described above.
Create first part as 0 – 19482 frames using the Direct Stream Copy for the video and Full Processing Mode for the audio using compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps (CBR) save as XXXX CD1.avi.
Create the second part as 19483 – 20442 using the Direct Stream Copy for the video and Full Processing Mode for the audio using compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps and add audio delay by going to “Audio” “Interleaving…” and “Audio Skew Correction”. Add the delay (minus) -7000 ms, save as XXXX CD2.avi.
Create the third and last part as 20620 – 157875 frames (to the end) using the Direct Stream Copy for the video and Full Processing Mode for the audio using compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps (CBR) save as XXXX CD3.avi. Remember to set the audio delay back to “0″.
NOTE: some frames will not be used as there is 7 seconds of video not used in this version at the first cut.
Append XXXX CD2.avi to XXXX CD1.avi but do not add XXXX CD3.avi as this will be done automatically by VirtualDub. Use the Direct Stream Copy for the video and for the audio, and save as XXXXfixed.avi.
