Woop woop! Here’s Devise with the R5 for The Last House On The Left. Heard quite some good things about this movie, so I’ll certainly catch this one. Video and audio quality should be good. Audio should be a lot better than like we had with Night @ Museum. Enjoy!(Added 2 mirrors for vid sample since HF is instable)

Masters of horror Wes Craven and Sean Cunningham revisit their landmark film that launched Craven’s directing career and influenced decades of horror films to follow: “The Last House on the Left.” Bringing one of the most notorious thrillers of all time to a new generation, they produce the story that explores how far two ordinary people will go to exact revenge on the sociopaths who harmed their child.

The night she arrives at the remote Collingwood lakehouse, Mari (Sara Paxton) and her friend are kidnapped by a prison escapee and his crew. Terrified and left for dead, Mari’s only hope is to make it back to parents John and Emma (Tony Goldwyn and Monica Potter). Unfortunately, her attackers unknowingly seek shelter at the one place she could be safe.     How to re-sync the affected portion.
    1. Import the decompressed “.avi” file into “VirtualDub” and copy the three sections into separate files (First before, Second the out of sync section, third the remainder). Use the Direct Stream Copy for the video and for the audio, unless you received dire warnings when importing the original file then Full Processing Mode for the audio using audio compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps CBR, (the next highest bitrate to the original ABR/VBR).
    2. Save the first and third parts as XXXX CD1.avi and XXXX CD3.avi respectively as detailed above.
    3. Add audio delay/advance to the second part by using “Audio” “Interleaving…” and “Audio Skew Correction”. Add the delay as instructed by trial and error until synced (use the preview option at the screen bottom) then when correct save as above as XXXX CD2.avi in the same location as parts one and three.
    4. Import part one, as above, but save as AVI Direst Stream Copy for both Audio and Video. VirtualDub will add the second and third parts automatically. Save as XXXX.avi. If the joining does not work then use the option “File” “Append AVI segment…” then save as XXXX.avi.

    Should take less than 20 minutes.

    Update on sync-fix as described above.
    Create first part as 0 – 19482 frames using the Direct Stream Copy for the video and Full Processing Mode for the audio using compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps (CBR) save as XXXX CD1.avi.
    Create the second part as 19483 – 20442 using the Direct Stream Copy for the video and Full Processing Mode for the audio using compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps and add audio delay by going to “Audio” “Interleaving…” and “Audio Skew Correction”. Add the delay (minus) -7000 ms, save as XXXX CD2.avi.
    Create the third and last part as 20620 – 157875 frames (to the end) using the Direct Stream Copy for the video and Full Processing Mode for the audio using compression MP3 at 48,000 Hz Constant Bit Rate at 160 kbps (CBR) save as XXXX CD3.avi. Remember to set the audio delay back to “0″.
    NOTE: some frames will not be used as there is 7 seconds of video not used in this version at the first cut.
    Append XXXX CD2.avi to XXXX CD1.avi but do not add XXXX CD3.avi as this will be done automatically by VirtualDub. Use the Direct Stream Copy for the video and for the audio, and save as XXXXfixed.avi.

    Sean, VirtualDub is a video editor designed for AVI files. AVI files are a container of separate component streams, usually one video and one or more audio. The process above will cut the complete file into 3 parts, before (1), during (2), and after (3). During the process part 2 will be subject to a delay in the audio stream of (minus)-7000 milliseconds or (minus) -7 seconds syncing the video and audio, and loosing the audio for which there is no video. The last step rejoins the 3 parts, loosing only a short section where there was video without any correct audio.

    You can download VirtualDub (Google) unzip and use the above fix in less than 20 minutes. You will need 3 Gig of Hard Disc space.

    This has been tested and it works.

    SPOILER ALERT
    The problem is the video and sound are from different edits and there is a scene (parking the car on the way to the store) that there is audio for but no video. Likewise in the store there will be video without audio. The missing audio, with some work, can be found in the PPV release, but is not included in the above fix.
