The L Word S05E01 HDTV XviD-0TV

I thought I would try out this show because of ‘lesbian action’. But then when I found out there was no plot, I got bored and just skipped through. Now I won’t be watching the show anymore. It’s just not so great, from watching this episode.

LGB Tease: Shane derails plans to move in with Paige, then suffers the consequences; Jenny returns from vacation with a billionaire movie financier in tow; Phyllis has doubts about her romance with Joyce.

ya know, my gf loves this show. i download it for her, but don’t mind watching the sex secenes at all. mr. x is right, it is dead boring, basically a soap opera with mostly female characters. but hey, if my gf wants to watch chicks getting it on, i am here for her!

same situation as kloudykat. i pay for showtime just so the girl can watch her L Word. i don’t really mind the show, and i usually pay attention. it’s more interesting if you’ve been following since the beginning. probably won’t download though… already saw it, and it’s a see-once-delete-once kind of show.

I quite like the show… It’s a pity you won’t further comment on it. ;)

Seriously, if you haven’t watched it from the beginning then you can’t get the full value out of it. I actually enjoy the show as a male and think it would be worth it to catch up on it.

And what shows don’t people see once and delete.

Eh, I thought it was okay at the beginning (IIRC the first episode of the first season leaked waaaaaay back in the day and I watched it then) but as the seasons have gone on and the interesting characters have either left or just mysteriously vanished between seasons it’s become kindof pointless. But yes, a thousand times moreso if you’re first watching the opening of the *fifth* season!

Only a complete dullard would say that the show has “no plot.” It’s a serial show. It has plot. It just happens to be a plot that doesn’t interest you.

I’m not a fan of the show or anything, but to say that it has no plot is just plain fecking stupid. Then again, that’s really par for the course with Mr. X.

i discovered the show two weeks ago and watched all 4 seasons. i think the show has some very interesting points about gender and social roles. on the other side there are this telenovela soap opera elements that i dont like. also the writing has some big flaws. leisha hailey as alice is a great charakter in the show despite the sometimes bad writing. one great point of the show is that it shows that even lesbians reproduce role behavior and their ralationships arent better or worse than those of the oposite sex.

This program is so funny.I listened to a radio announcer here in new Zealand say to a guy”If you want to spice up your life go watch this on prime tv”He said ok but im not really into the lesbian thing but ill give it a try”lol!

hey B, some of us keep the keepers! i have my mythtv archives ;-) complete simpsons and south park plus some other adult swim sets :-D :-D used to have complete family guy, but the humor is too tacky to stay funny…and hdd space is at a premium in my house lately :-(

i like keeping the toons around because they aren’t in a sequential story line, and there are so many that there’s always something that feels ‘fresh’.

    @ace – very well said.

    ouch
i always thought mr x was a consummate ironist. now i see he is someone who probably thinks an ironist sets fires.

never mind his comments on this episode. the fact that he hasn’t seen all four previous series is proof that he knows nothing about what is going on in television.

i’m not sure that ‘plot’ is an aesthetic imperative either.

this is a seminal [no pun intended] work

I agree with dumpydooby. Obviously it has a plot. I’ve tried to like Mr. X, but then he always makes some worthless comment about one of his postings. No offense, but it’s my opinion.

Going back to “The L Word”, I’ve watched this show since the beginning. It’s not as good as it once was, but it’s still worth watching every week. It’s funny and intelligent. After a while all shows turn into a type of soap opera to keep itself from dying, but I think this show still has some great storylines left. The writers are decent, and most of the actors are wonderful.

agree with hobomobo. i’m keeping the whole simpsons series (yes, every single episode, ~41GB) and i usually watch at least one episode a day… must have seen all of them at least twice but hey, it’s the fun not the suspense (that the right word? don’t know ^^ i mean when its exciting) that keeps me watching them.
but the one’s with a countinuing storyline i usually delete after the season is finished (e.g. prison break), there’s no reason to watch them ever again if you already know what will happen.

won’t watch this ^^ sounds not really interesting, i guess any man who started watching this did so because he hoped for some “action”, but there obviously isn’t any.

I love this show and have been watching from season one. Good story lines and acting. As far as the sex goes, there is plenty of it, but remember this is Showtime not Playboy.

You knew who he meant though right?
The Persian, or Iranian, girl was Carmen. And yes, she was smokin’ hot.
