The Invisibles S01E01 HDTV XviD-BiA

The introduction to this article was written by moderator Joe from the RLSLOG Forums. Please note that this was released yesterday:

This is a new comedy/drama for the BBC, called “The Invisibles”; starring Anthony Head from ‘Little Britain’ & ‘Buffy’ and Warren Clarke from ‘Dalziel and Pascoe’. It will be aired from 1 May – 5 June 2008. Aired on a Thursday, the 1st episode recieved 4.7 million viewers. It’s received a few bad reviews, but who listens to the reviewers? With a great English cast, and an original story-line, this is gold-dust. Best viewed with a cup of tea.

Warren Clarke and Anthony Head are experienced burglars, they’ve just come out of a 20 year stint of ‘taking a break from the life of crime’. The two OAP’s get back into their old ways, and start pulling off burglaries in a quiet Devonshire town.

English humour is the only type of humour thats actually funny without being at all stupid. American humour is the opposite…entirely stupid and not funny.

Watched this but got pretty annoyed after a while. The producers are amateurs, they’ve got this epic barrage of Jazz music about nine times louder than the rest of the sound.

@4 what a stupid and arrogant thing to say. if you said “in my opinion” or “i think” it would be totally different, but you didn’t so what you said is rubbish

    May 2nd, 2008 | 23:36

@11 its either rubbish or true. i vote for the latter.

also The Office is a prime example of English humour verses American humour. The US version of the Office utterly and completely missed the essence that made the orginal UK Office funny.

I really CANNOT wait to see how badly American’s ruin Top Gear!!

lol.. you are lost, i can tell that much. so to try to explain to you why you are fundamentally wrong… it’s pointless. it’s the same as saying chocolate is better than vanilla, period. it’s the exact same thing.

the office US is a great show, one of my favorites. i’ve seen the UK one and I don’t like it. but i’m not going to say which one is better, because the answer is neither. to me, the US one is better and i prefer it/like it more, but i’m not going to say that it’s a better show for everyone. thats just silly

    May 2nd, 2008 | 23:46

I think you’re missing the point. I’m not saying one thing is better than the other.

I’m not saying British humour is better than American humour. I’m saying British humour is funny and American humous is not.

the thing is, you might prefer english humor over american. but that doesn’t mean everyone does. it’s safe to bet that zero people on this planet think the same way as you. just remember that everyone thinks they are right. and in a way, they are, but they can’t expect others to feel the same or think the same. r-e-s-p-e-c-t find out what it means to me

@16 to you!!!! you phrase it poorly. american humor IS funny, just not to you. understand? just how i think american humor is funnier than british. but note how i said “i think” cuz otherwise im trolling.

anyway, to get back on topic, im downloading the show right now and ill post my opinion after i watch it. though considering the initial comments, it doesn’t look extremely promising. we’ll see

No not to me…it just is. fullstop…or period as an American would say.

what country do you live in?

    and for the last time…
    please read these examples.

    “chocolate is better than vanilla”

“i like chocolate better than vanilla” or “i prefer chocolate over vanilla

can you not see the difference?

  21. neezee
    May 2nd, 2008 | 23:58

yes yes I think chocolate is better than vanilla in my opinion. However, British humour funny and American “humour” is not.

    i’m from England

    May 3rd, 2008 | 00:02

well there you go. you are from england. i wonder if that influences your opinion a teeeeny bit (sarcasm). maybe you don’t understand american humor, but that does not make it unfunny in general.

  23. neezee
    May 3rd, 2008 | 00:06

OK i’ve just been teasing lol..i know i shoulda said in my opinion bla bla lol. anyway on a more serious note…

Nah i do understand american humour..whats not to understand. american humour is so obvious and in your face. with british humour its more to do with the characters, scenarios and irony rather than something funny and tangible happening like in american humour. i just prefer humour when its not so obvious and in your face.

however i’m glad to know that british humour isnt entirely lost on the yanks…they found Shaun of the Dead funny so they must understand it a bit.

    May 3rd, 2008 | 00:14

but you have to understand its not a matter of americans being “stupid” its a matter of americans —being in america. when i watch british humor, i understand everything that doesn’t deal with references… or certain words that i am unfamiliar with. both of those things require you to 1. watch lots and lots of british comedy to understand them over time -or- 2. live there.

and since i dont live there, and i havent seen enough of their comedy, i am unable to understand some of the jokes.

i know you didn’t flat out say americans are stupid, but you imply it in a few of your sentences, so i just wanted to address the subject

Can anyone list out some great British comedy series?
I’ve only watched Mind Your Language and Bean.
I’m fan of British comedy, after watching Guy Ritchie’s and Simon Pegg’s movies.

I think American humour is more slapstick than British Humour. It’s full of Farts, people falling over, getting hit in some way or another and in the case of most Teen comedies…Light Drugs. Americans were brought up on comedies like The Three Stooges and thus find slapstick funny. British People were brought up on Comedies with word play and thus prefer the more intelligent type. Neither is better but more down to Heritage.

    PS @30 biff

You really have to watch a series called Spaced. It has most of the cast from Shaun of The Dead and has the same humour. Also sketch shows like Little Britain and of course Peep Show are very good.

I live in Scotland UK, and I hate British TV. The only things I watch here are Doctor Who and Top Gear. The rest I download from USA.

I’m not gonna download this because i expect it to be rubbish.

@31 im going to have to respectfully disagree. to call british comedy more intelligent is quite a bold and untrue statement. and to call american comedy full of fart jokes, people falling over, etc, is quite silly. some comedies contain that content, but so do some british comedies
