I'm writing this as I'm listening to this album for the first time. It's been 5 tracks now and i can't even describe their sound yet. I think they have evolved into some sort of garage/punk rock/post punk/something else freakin rocking act. I just finished listening the sixth track 'A Stroll Through Hive Manor Corridors' what?? I'm not kidding. That's the face i made. What?? and I turned up the volume and looked for the song's name. How can, not do, but how can they dare to change their sound so drastically?? Oh yeah, I forgot, because they don't care what we think and Pelle is really crazy. Really. Although to some they might sound more 'accesible' now, what they are really doing is getting a post punk and experimental dance/pop sound and attitude. Oh but their artistic and musical performing skills are still evident, don't get me wrong. Heavy, riffy guitars, danceable bass and steady simple yet sometimes spastic drums. What can I say about vocals/lyrics? Well, he knows what he's doing and he does it so well. I was lucky to see them in san diego the first time they came to the US, I believe around 99 or 2000... man, it was some of the best 15 min of my life! they were opening that night and they came and without notice or any intro or any word!, they started rocking out real hard, fast punk and garage rock and THE attitude of course. They definetely took us all by surprise. Everybody in the audience (including myself) was like looking at each other with a face that was silently asking: where did these come from?? who are they? what are they f*cking doing?? The album is still going. I have so many things to say about this new sound. I better stop. Get it! (but know their history, get their other albums) oh yeah, the hives have done it again!
