The Hives - The Black And White Album (2007)
Although it’s a few days late its still worth posting, The Hives’ new album “The Black and White Album”. I don’t know much about this band but i remember listening to one of their songs from the Timbaland album which i really liked. I’ll be definitely getting this album. The album is being released tomorow to buy or download. Enjoy people!
The Black and White Album is the title of the fourth full-length album by Swedish garage rock revivalists The Hives. The album’s release dates are October 15, 2007 in the United Kingdom and November 13, 2007 in the United States. The album was originally slated for release on October 9 in the United Kingdom, however this date was postponed until the October 15, for unknown reasons, as was the original US release of October 9, 2007.
The first single off the album, “Tick Tick Boom,” appears on the Madden ‘08 soundtrack. Clips from this song apeared in a Nike commercial shortly before the single’s release date, August 14 for the US and September 24 in the UK.
The band said they’ve recorded 20 to 30 songs (including seven recorded with producer Pharrell Williams) for this album and are currently choosing the best. Other tracks have been produced by Jacknife Lee and Dennis Herring. Sessions were held with Timbaland, with whom the band produced the song Throw It On Me, but took place too late for any of the resultant tracks to make the record. They hope to use these songs as b-sides.

I have heard of tick tick boom before in other action movies. I always wanted to hear that again. Does anyone have a torrent link to that or youtube video link? I really just have an urge to watch that.
Cool its the guys from the timberland song, that song was great. Ill give this album a try.
The Hives kick ass. Friday also saw the “offical release” of Puscifer’s EP.. which is nothin really but a 4 songs you could get off various soundtracks but there’s also torrents floating around for the “Cuntry Boner” single that includes a bonus track and the “Queen B” single and video are both out there too.
I get hives after listening to this filth.

That’s okay. This one passed me by, thanks a ton. there is not alot of new rock that gets me excited, but the Hives know how do do it right.

I saw them warming up for The Rolling Stones and at the end of the concert the singer said “Thank you all for coming to see us tonight and please don’t go home because there’s another band playing after us”. Amazing
Incomplete, find another copy - track 3 is missing.
These guys are OK, but for good Swedish rock, can’t beat the best oldies…Refused.

I’m writing this as I’m listening to this album for the first time. It’s been 5 tracks now and i can’t even describe their sound yet.
I think they have evolved into some sort of garage/punk rock/post punk/something else freakin rocking act. I just finished listening the sixth track ‘A Stroll Through Hive Manor Corridors’

I’m not kidding. That’s the face i made. What?? and I turned up the volume and looked for the song’s name.
How can, not do, but how can they dare to change their sound so drastically?? Oh yeah, I forgot, because they don’t care what we think and Pelle is really crazy. Really.
Although to some they might sound more ‘accesible’ now, what they are really doing is getting a post punk and experimental dance/pop sound and attitude. Oh but their artistic and musical performing skills are still evident, don’t get me wrong. Heavy, riffy guitars, danceable bass and steady simple yet sometimes spastic drums. What can I say about vocals/lyrics? Well, he knows what he’s doing and he does it so well.
I was lucky to see them in san diego the first time they
came to the US, I believe around 99 or 2000… man, it was some of the best 15 min of my life! they were opening that night and they came and without notice or any intro or any word!, they started rocking out real hard, fast punk and garage rock and THE attitude of course. They definetely took us all by surprise. Everybody in the audience (including myself) was like looking at each other with a face that was silently asking: where did these come from?? who are they? what are they f*cking doing??
The album is still going. I have so many things to say about this new sound. I better stop.
