The Headbang Academy - Lesson II

Hello Fans, I guess i don’t have to write an introduction for this post. Just in case you currently don’t know what this is all about, you can read up here on Lesson I. Anyways I have thought of many things how to even improve this sampler and maybe you will get some extra surprises in the (near) future :) btw. well known editor ReeGed joins us in the teachers lounge.

A BIG thanks to Antje14 from the comments, for recovering this article!

Hello class. Nice to see no one is absent. This week we have some more black/death’ish material for you but since we teach you I guess you will just have to live with that *grin*.

Okay the first song isn’t really a typical Dimmu Borgir track, but it will create some atmosphere. Second up is At The Gates one of the gods of Melodic Death Metal enough said imho. Next in line is The Faceless, Progressive Death Metal straight out of the US and A ;). #4 is some Thrash/Death Metal played by The Senseless that track comes from their one and only Album. We take a 180° turn concerning the vocals because now we get some Gothic‘ish tunes from ‘em Farmer Boys. Now comes the band I started my RLSLOG career with. Arsis a Technical Melodic Death Metal band. Phew time for the big break.

Okay, we will begin with some lighter tunes again. This Motörhead like band Chrome Division plays Heavy Metal, Rock’n’Roll. The following band Crematory is absolutely new to me but I really like their playing so I’ll look forward to hear some more of that Gothic Death Metal (early), Goth/Industrial. Now we come to another band which was featured on this site before, yep I am talking about the Swamplords Kalmah ;) as you can read in the post its Melodic Death/Speed/Thrash Metal. Slowly we start to come to the end again but we still have 3 tracks to go, so attention please!
On position 10 there is Watain, grim swedish Black Metal. We stay in the Black/Power Metal rails but this band really gives it a twist. Stormlord is atm. one of my fav. bands, especially this track is pretty intens )
Last but not least we come to Van Canto. You’ll probably have never heard of them, since their style is not very common. FYI its A Cappella Epic Power Metal. Sounds interesting? Yes it does. Be sure to also attend their gig @ Wacken 2008. I will (if I still get a ticket somewhere ffs!)!

So, see you all next week students.

Class dismissed. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Thanks for the Headbang Academy Lessons! They are quite sick, I already listen to a good amount of metal but this really broadens my horizons!

You should put some more metalcore (don’t bash me if you hate it!) like Killswitch and co.
