Releaselog

The Headbang Academy is giving its first lesson today.

Hello long haired fans of the Metal music genre. I always wanted to share bands I like with the masses and now I have the opportunity to do so. This sampler was created with the help of Flawz and Jesse from the RLSLOG forums, Darkje and of course myself. Our goal is to give you some new bands to listen to without having the hassle to browse e.g. MySpace for hours and listen to songs in a shitty quality :P . I can just speak for me in this part, but I do prefer scene when it comes to music, although there are also quite a few good “p2p” releases. So, the actual tracks on the sampler might be

  1. Scene RLS
  2. Self-Ripped
  3. P2P

We still added the release name in the nfo though, so you can grab the scene rls then :)

Alright students, we have 12 tracks to work through, so lets get it on.

We will start with a nice CoB’ish sounding band, Made of Hate and move on to the well known Thrashers Testament. After these two “light” songs we get our first Technical Death Metal song called “Spheres of Madness” from our polish friends Decapitated. To calm down a bit, our forth track is some nice Power/Folk Metal from Elvenking, an Italian band I really enjoy. Now it’s time to create some ear damage, so As I Lay Dying, a famous Metalcore band instigates some harder growls, peaking in The Berzerker’s “Betrayal” – some wicked Industrial Death/Grind.

After that chaotic song we move to more Melodic styles of Metal, but Born of Osiris a Progressive Death/Metalcore group, give us their tunes in track 7 first. Now we switch to some Melodic Death/Power Metal as I said and back to Italy, where Raintime awaits. Moving forward to some more gentle sounds so we slow down to the voice of Kevin James LaBrie, the lead singer of the very famous Progressive Metal band Dream Theater. We still stay with a melodic sound now, but we pick um some speed, Hammerfall a Heavy/Power Metal band enlightens us with their anthem Hammerfall. We are almost at the end, just 2 tracks missing. Some oldskool Norwegian Black Metal by Immortal and our finisher Borthers in Arms by a finnish band: Northern Kings. A Heavy Metal group consisting of very famous musicians like Marco Hietala from Nightwish and Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica.

Classes are over. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I caught a great fairly new band in concert last month on tour w/ CLUTCH [who need no introduction]:
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
Although the name may not impress listen to the tunes and you will be harkened back to the good ole days of swampy southern metal.
    Check em out! @ http://www.myspace.com/mayleneandthesonsofdisaster
