It begins with no clear warning. It seems to come out of nowhere. In a matter of minutes, episodes of strange, chilling deaths that defy reason and boggle the mind in their shocking destructiveness, erupt in major American cities. What is causing this sudden, total breakdown of human behavior? Is it some kind of new terrorist attack, an experiment gone wrong, a diabolical toxic weapon, an out-of-control virus? Is it being transmitted by air, by water . . . how? For Philadelphia high school science teacher Elliot Moore what matters most is finding a way to escape the mysterious and deadly phenomenon. Though he and his wife Alma are in the midst of a marital crisis, they hit the road, first by train, then by car, with Elliot’s math teacher friend Julian and his 8 year-old daughter Jess, heading for the Pennsylvania farmlands where they hope they’ll be out of reach of the grisly, ever-growing attacks.     The Happening is not a brain-dead action movie or a crude comedy, so it will not appeal to the masses. It is a slow suspense/thriller film that is decent enough. If you like M. Night’s previous films, you should like this one.

    That being said, it isn’t perfect. The dialogue/acting is a little rough at times, and I found the environmentalism heavy handed.

    and to think i actually paid to see this movie. could be that i missed something that actually makes it enjoyable, but it is horrible waste of time & money imho. i think its not even worth the bandwidth it takes to download TS.

    I have found some of the best releases from off topic comments..
    This site is in the top 1000 out of millions of sites…

    The mods do a decent job, but compared to hundreds of thousands of posters searching releases everyday, they are bound to lack behind.

    Movie looks promising , Roper from at the movies gave it thumbs up.. As for quality its not bad for a telesync def watchable and audio is good also.. Some ppl are just spoiled with r5 quality ….

    yeah, this version is missing a lot of scenes. I noticed it when lion tamer goes to let the lion eat his arms, they never showed it before but they show the zookeeper after and both of his arms are eaten off. In this version they don’t show it.

    BEWARE!

    This release is CUT! (Spoiler):

    I have another boot of this, and in the opening scene, we see the girl on the park bench pull a hairpin from her hair, push it into her neck, and a stream of blood runs out. In this release, we cut away just as she places the pin to her neck. I haven’t compared the rest, so I can’t say how else it’s compromised. Maybe it was cut for an overseas market (the subs are Dutch, I think?).

    just finished watching this and its probably worth comparing to “The Fog” as its just dull.
    its not amateurish at all and you dont feel like switching it off halfway through, but you do find yourself hoping its near the end pretty soon.

    All in all the 80’s feel of the washed out colour is pretty fitting for the whole film.

    Checked out the sample… good for a cam, but no good enough for people who usually stick to R5’s or rips. Considering the slamming the film is receiving, I’ll wait for an R5 at least, so I don’t have even more to complain about with respect to this movie! I can definitely wait to be disappointed! :D

    How? The movie spells everything out from the start, is totally predictable and requires no thinking the whole time…and the main characters get their typical happy Hollywood ending. Yawn!

    I agree with most of the posters about the quality of this release. Telesync? Hardly. I’ve seen cams with better quality than this. The picture is terrible and the audio isn’t much better. Pass on this and wait for a better copy to show up. I’m generally forgiving about the quality of new releases but this is simply awful.

    Not bad for a TS.
    Also the movie is not so bad if the date today was 1960 or so. Then was easier to be stupid. One of the worst acting ever seen in movie-history. M Night made sure you dont feel any sympathy for the characters also.
    This movie is good example why “Copyright” is outdated and broken all the time.
    My advice: Just watch the movie and you decide how they steel your money through entertaintment and most of all your time which they can never reimburse to you.

    I actually have to give this film “some” credit.
    At the start of the movie, it really does seem good, and the storyline seems good too, but after about 30mins, it dulls out, and theres no need of watching it, it gets extremely boring, and I can honestly say, from 30mins-1hours, there is no need to watch, just skip forward.

    The video source of this release is the censored German theatrical version.

    According to M. Night Shymalan himself, in an interview with FOCUS magazine, the following bloody parts are missing *SPOILER* :

    - the woman in the opening scene sticking her hairpin into her neck, a lot of blood sputtering out of the wound
    - a lion bites a man’s arm off
    - a man is overrun and thus hacked into pieces by a lawnmower

    There may be even more cuts, these are just the scenes Shymalan mentions in the interview.

    I saw Happening in the cinema (Czech Republic) and… why is this version cutted out? I think that The Happening is first Shyamalan R-rated movie and almost every scene from R-Rated trailer is cut out or highly shortened (needle in the neck, building-workers, beasts in zoo, cutting the wrist…).

    And yeah, I think it´s a good movie. Shyamalan´s worst, but still pretty interesting – I like how he mix B-movie aestethics with art get-there.

    M knight movies generally follow the same pattern. He makes movies he thinks are 7-8-9 ratings only to come up with 5-6. Why? His vision of a great movie isnt shared by the moviegoers in general.
