The Homepage lies, good Sir. This is a standalone version, which means that you only need this copy in order to play this game. Can you not read, good man?

    1. It’s standalone.
    2. It’s from Jowood. => There WILL be lots of bugs. => They will promise “patches”, lots of “patches” that fix alllll the bugs. => There will be no “patch” that fixes the bugs, but you won’t be able to use old savegames EVERYTIME a “patch” is released.

Since this is the third version of the guild 2 this game should be reasonably bugless – after all they have had enough bloody time by now. Still, its best not to be certain with jowood – a company which deserves crit. on bugs but high praise on general game quality.

    Remember:

Clever gamers can occasionally find solutions and ways around bugs.

Wow! I actually just yesterday returned from a 9 day trip to italy, spent some hours in venice, it was the coolest thing ever – drank some heavenly keg-wine, got a discount from a salesman (gave too much money back), ate some expensive food and preformed in a very old church.

Gotta grab this then, I guess..

The Game totally is one of the best business simulations.
Love to played the first one. but after a while it just keeps crashing. no patch for that.
i had so much fun with it and i was soooo disappointed.
thats why i wont play this game. will have a lot of fun and then because of some bugs i wont be able to play it anymore and will cry.
too bad jowood doesnt take some more time to develope games.
or just take the old games and fix them.
if they would release a perfect version of the first game…i would buy it again.

i wouldnt recommend getting this…get the standard Guild 2 instead….like all the guild games this has almost no pathfinding at all..doesnt even have the interior of the new buildings in the game and u probably will get killed by someone during the first 15 minutes..It was a huge letdown…JoWood sucks…yet again JoWood tries to sell us a beta.

The only things that look like ‘venice’ in the game are SOME of the houses. A few nice additions since Pirates of the somethingsomething, but I got most of these with a patch to the Pirates expansion. Not too many maps in Venice and some old bugs haven’t been cleaned out. There are a couple of new bugs like interior collision/pathfinding and missing names (might be only in the english version). The AI hasn’t gotten any smarter. Making money is a bit harder, as the marketing is slower (comparison of the files proves it too).
When the Pirates expansion introduced water and stuff… Venice doesnt really give you anything that big, just a few nicks here and there.

The first Guild 2 was released at a time where it was literally (and Im not exaggerating in the slightest bit) IMPOSSIBLE to play for more than, say, five minutes before the game crashed. A game that requires a patch just to play for more than five minutes is pathetic.

Once you get it up and running, though, it is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the game (as long as I didnt focus on my guy getting stuck, women talking with the same man voice that my character had, and making it damn near impossible to destroy an enemy’s building without 50 OP guards shoving a sword up your arse). As a side note, I found it rather entertaining that there was no negative effect of plowing your wife every chance you got. In some games, I had a good 50 children running around town…

Wow guild 2 venice. Another buggy game by Jowood. They will never learn that games need to be tested. Jowood has got some pretty fine ideas and games. If you see that logo that means that the game is good but it's unplayable. Guild 2 and Gothic 2-3 is awesome. I really would like to finaly play this game. I really haven't played it yet. Sadly guild 2 was just a decoration to your desktop.
