That you didn’t know about the US Olympic boycott (or, apparently the subsequent Soviet response) is unsurprising, but speaks volumes about your understanding — or, more accurately, lack thereof — of the history and reasons for the current state of affairs in the Middle East. That you think the Soviet Afghan invasion and the US invasion of Iraq are direct analogues says decidedly unkind things, both about your level, or lack thereof, of native intelligence and your understanding of Soviet history and the delicate Soviet/US dynamic of the time. That you think slinging the term “a bunch of pussies” around to be some sort of trenchant historical analysis pretty much cements things in a mile thick layer of concrete idiocy.

That aside, while the term ’steroid’ has come to be used in general parlance to mean any Androgen (Dyhydrotestosterone, Testosterone, Dehydroepiandrosterone, et al) or Androgen analog, this is primarily due to the fact that in most jurisdictions Androgens are scheduled substances (ie, legally essentially treated as narcotics) whereas Progestins (Progesterone) and Estrogens (17b-Estradiol, Estrone, et al) are not. However the reality is that all human sex hormones are steroidal by definition, and while there are non-steroidal sex hormone analogs (Diethylstilbestrol being perhaps the most (in)famous), in general the use of the term ’steroid’ is almost invariably redundant, incorrect, or both.

So, change ‘andronic’ to ‘androgens’, drop the rest of the sentence (if you wish to call it such), add a capital letter or two and a period at the end, and you’re actually approaching a coherent statement of the blindingly obvious.

That you’re surprised by the fact that pumping a woman full of enough androgens will give her male characteristics (albeit not a “full blown sex change” by any definition of which I’m aware) says as many volumes about your lack of basic science education as your being surprised by the US Olympic boycott says about your history education.

Honestly, it makes one feel for the Canadian taxpayer. To put it depressingly mildly, it would seem that they aren’t getting their money’s worth from their educational system.

That, or the tinfoil is blocking a lot more than just evil governmental mind control rays.

what, the US boycotted the 1980 Olympics for the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan ? why don’t other nations protest the US invasion of Iraq. Sounds to me like they’re a bunch of pussies for boycotting the Olympics.

FYI, there’s currently a big scandal over how the same thing was going on out of Freiberg University in West Germany starting in the early 1950s. Not good stuff.
