The Gospel Comedy All Stars 2006 REPACK DVDRip XviD-EPiSODE
The IMDb page on this film only has the plot outline, so we have no general ideas on how good/bad this comedy routine is yet. The audio quality is a little on the low-side of 112k. The re-pack was issued shortly after their original release, but no nukes were issued and the exact problem was not clear. I have not heard of ‘gospel’ stand-up comedy before, but I’m willing to give it a shot. Black comedians usually are good anyways. Lots of slang/ebonics throughout all the routines, and when the camera pans to the audience their reactions seem to be over-zealous and over-exaggerated. Gospel All Stars is targeted for a very specific audience, so if you’re not black or from The South this is not for you. And there’s nothing racist about that statement.

There is a certain point were something is informative and justified and then racist.
To say that it is a comedy with a bunch of black people and the jokes are far more bias toward black people is not racism. It is just how it is. There are black people, white, asian, middle eastern, etc. etc.
You can’t just say that some text is racism because it shows two races as being different from another. Racism is where you go overboard or harbor hatred for people due to their race.
IS saying that this show is for black people racism? Maybe for ignorant fools.

Not trying to start an argument, but I have to point out that racism is not just “where you go overboard or harbor hatred for people due to their race.”
Racism, strictly speaking, includes: “a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement” (see the dictionary)
There are various types of racism, including:
a) feelings of superiority or outright dehumanisation,
b) personal bias, e.g. “I prefer black jazz to white jazz”
c) “politically correct” racism, e.g. “black comedians are funnier” or “blacks have bigger willies”.
Get the idea.. “racism” just means a belief or bias based on race. If Mr.X has a personal bias based on race, that’s not a big deal. An opinion or two does not make the PERSON a racist. However you could technically say the statement is a racist one based on a personal bias on that particular subject.
i.e. nothing to see here, finish your cornflakes and move along.
uh, that being said.. I do think the statement “if you’re not black or from The South this is not for you.” is taking it too far in terms of telling everyone what to think. I didn’t think that was really necessary, unless it’s meant as joke of course… it’s hard to identify dry humour in text because.. well, it’s dry.
Actually, delete that last comment, it wasn’t “going too far”, I think it was just a normal statement which unfortunately had the effect of casting the whole piece in a different light.
By itself, it would just sound slightly odd.

I watched this and I’m sorry but I really must say….if you’re not black or from the south this probably isn’t for you. It has a very specific type of comedy which most likely wont appeal to anybody who doesn’t fall into the two previously mentioned groups. That’s not being racist, it’s just a fact. British comedy doesn’t do it for most Americans, this wont do it for most Americans. It just requires a certain sense of humor. Half of the black and southern groups are ruled out as well because this is some VERY clean comedy. If you’re into the jokes your preacher tells, you’ll love it. Otherwise I’d skip this one.
The fact that you had to throw in “And there’s nothing racist about that statement” only proves that there actually is a lot that’s racist about that statement.
I was using as more of a “oh my god I said the word “black” so all of the PC hippies are gonna cry” sort of thing.

The extreme miserableness of the PC-minded is evidenced by the fact that this Christmas in Australia (where I live), Santa’s weren’t allowed to say “ho ho ho”. They had to say “ha ha ha”.
Why?
Because “ho’” is slang for “whore”. In America. We don’t say “ho’” here. Except, until recently, in successions of three. Or on Talk Like a Pirate Day, often preceded by “heave” or “land”. Are we saying “look, a land of whores, drop anchor” or “heave that whore outta here”? I don’t think so.
It’s ridiculous. And afaik it’s Ebonics, which is simply not present in Aus. Yet it was banned. The entire population of the planet, black, white and green with pink stripes, looked at us like, WTF?
Anyway.. Ebonics.. I love that word now, I learned something. Its use by Mr.X probably indicates he’s better read than the majority of people who complain about his use of language. That’s ironic, foo’.

why is it every time a film that features a predominately African American cast no matter what the convo here is always about race?…you cant just put a film up and tell us the quality of the vid and audio and leave it as it…the mere fact that race and racism was brought into the discussion alone leaves little doubt where that persons mind is…stuck in Jimcrow….doesnt matter to me anyway….I can tell you this much…with China and is over a billion plus population and fastest growing economy….white folks got their share of things to be concerned about….
